Dear readers, I just came back from a cruise, and I was way behind on General Hospital. Even though Wi-Fi at sea was available, I was busy drinking Champagne, floating in turquoise waters, and singing around a baby grand on board with my theatre friends. The people of Port Charles were not my priority. But now I am back again in this sleepy little Florida town, and I’m all caught up on the antics of my favorite soapy nut jobs.
General Hospital’s New Theme
There’s a theme on General Hospital lately, and it can only be surmised as “Cover your ass.”
Drew makes a move, while Ava hangs back
Nina was framed by Drew for Jack’s disappearance. Despite the fact that her supposed BFF Ava has a tick bite from trip to the woods to bury Jack’s body, Ava covered her ass and said nothing as Nina was carted away in handcuffs. At least she didn’t throw her head back, laugh out loud and toss back a shot of whiskey like Tracy Q did, which by the way, was my favorite moment of the week! Always keep your eyes on Jane Elliot. She’s solid gold.
Brook Lynn’s Silence
Brook Lynn knew she was the other driver in Curtis and Jordan’s crash, but she covered her ass because she didn’t want it to affect her adoption as she had been drinking and driving that night. For the record, I can’t express how much I dislike everyone dumping on BLQ, because for the 8 millionth time *she *did *not *cause *the *accident. It was not a hit-and-run. She swerved out of the way of a reckless driver. Ugh.
Trina’s Double Standards
Trina, who is being extremely judgmental of BLQ for not speaking up about her car being involved in Curtis’ accident, is the exact same person who kept quiet about an attempted murder to cover her ass. She and Kai didn’t come forward when they realized that Willow shot Drew because then they would have to explain why they broke into Drew’s house.
Scout’s Secret
Scout covered her ass by letting Drew think she snuck out to see Danny, while instead she was out kissing Rocco.
Justine’s Lover
Justine is covering her ass by hiding her relationship with Sonny so she can have a successful law enforcement career while banging a lifelong (But currently reformed) mobster.
Lucy’s Lies
Lucy covered her ass by blowing BLQ’s secret because she lied to the cops about Willow. And she doesn’t even seem a little bit sorry.
Anna’s Breakdown
And finally, there’s Anna. Anna has half the town covering her ass for luring Britt into the woods to murder Britt. I know Britt can be self-involved sometimes, but this time I am on her side! Even though Anna was not in her right mind, it doesn’t mean Britt needs to just let it slide!
Forgiveness
If someone tried to kill you, or someone you loved, would you not tell the cops and just let it go because they had mental instability? Of course not! Someone on X (formerly Twitter) said that Britt should forgive Anna because Britt wants people to forgive Britt for stealing an embryo. I pointed out that was 15 years ago, and Britt was almost murdered just the day before. Maybe in 15 years Britt will be over Anna trying to shoot her in the head.
Over the years, the WSB drove Anna mad, drove Dante mad, drove Valentin mad, and soon they will drive Joss mad. I’m with Carly. It’s not a good career choice. And since Joss’ entire reason for getting into the WSB was to bring Sonny down and now he and Jason have gone legit, what now? Will Joss stay in the WSB anyway because she likes kicking people’s asses? (I asked Dan how many times I could say “ass” and he didn’t answer.)

Who am I missing? There is so much to unpack in each one of these plotlines, but next I just want to talk about characters I am frustrated with.
Trina Paints Curtis the Victim
Okay, Trina, your dad and Jordan almost ran BLQ off the road while Curtis and Jordan were making out. While driving a vehicle on a curvy road. So, how is it BLQ’s fault your dad is in jail? Portia and Isaiah told Curtis a million times that Isaiah was with a patient that night. Curtis refused to believe it because he was jealous of Isaiah touching Portia’s belly and saying Isaiah would be a better father than Curtis, so Curtis decked Isaiah. None of that is BLQ’s fault. This is a cautionary tale to all. If you have a hunch about something, but no facts, maybe your hunch is wrong! Curtis did this to himself. He got locked in on the idea that Isaiah was at fault, and nothing could dissuade Curtis of that notion.
I used to love Trina, but her hypocrisy right now is infuriating. The reason Drew was trapped in a locked-in state for months is directly related to the fact that Trina and Kai sat on evidence in Drew’s shooting, which allowed Willow to get away with it! Willow would have been convicted and in prison and she never would have had the opportunity to jab Drew in the neck with paralytics, which led to Jack being jabbed by Willow’s nut job mother! So, using Trina’s logic, she is responsible for more ruined lives than Brooke Lynn.
Double, Double Toil and Trouble
My friend and fellow General Hospital columnist Liz Masters had the funniest tweet this week. She shared a screenshot of Liesl, Britt, Nina and Willow having drinks at Metro Court’s garden restaurant and said, “All that’s missing here is a big bubbling cauldron.” And I laughed and laughed. But it was spot on! Everyone sitting at that table is capable of dastardly things! And let’s not forget poor departed Nelle and Nina’s mom Madeline! The only normal person in this family was Nathan. He was like the Marilyn Munster of the family.
Emma On The Warpath
I understand that Emma wants to support her grandma. I love her fierce loyalty to Anna. But Emma’s attacks on Josslyn and Britt for telling the authorities that Anna almost murdered someone is nuts. If Carly tried to shoot someone in the woods, Emma would make a beeline to the PCPD to turn Carly in — even if Joss begged Emma not to. And Emma is still calling Britt “the Britch” for things Britt did 16 years ago. I am glad that Felicia pointed out to Emma that this time, Anna was the one in the wrong. Love your grandma. Support your grandma. But don’t become a Nina and cover for Anna’s crimes.
Dumb and Divorced
This man is the dumbest cop to ever be on the Port Charles Police Department. Willow is guilty of 20 crimes, but Chase thinks she is an angel. Chase is certain Michael shot Drew. (Michael didn’t.) Chase was certain that Tracy pushed Willow into the lake. (Tracy didn’t.) Chase is ready to leave his wife and break up his marriage over BLQ’s lies of omission but cannot see through Willow’s flat out lies and manipulations.
Willow cheated on Chase with Michael when they thought he was dying. She also cheated on Michael with Drew after Michael nursed her through cancer. Willow shot and drugged her husband, Drew. And she framed Nina to ensure her cooperation by tricking Nina into injecting Drew with the paralytic and kept the syringe with Nina’s fingerprints on it! Jack was right when he warned Nina that Willow would throw Nina under the bus in a heartbeat to protect herself.
But Chase is still 100% certain that Willow is an innocent victim. The day I am most anticipating right now is the day he finds out Willow’s crimes. But will that ever happen?
Overdue Justice
Earlier this summer, the day I was most anticipating was Drew waking up from his locked in syndrome and taking Nina and Willow down, but that fizzled out. I despise anticlimactic writing. The big build up, the weeks of Drew wiggling one finger, while we rubbed our hands together and said, “Oh boy! The big payoff is coming!” And then Drew comes out of the lake Nina pushed him into and… no payoff. Instead, Willow says, “I have dirt on you, so you can’t turn me in” Sigh.
An Odd Turn
I feel for Anna, but I have watched Anna on General Hospital for 40 years and it’s an odd turn that now all of her past trauma is catching up with her in her 60’s. Yes, Cullum gaslit Anna into thinking Faison was alive, but after months in a psychiatric hospital and going back home and being reassured Faison is still dead, it just seemed strange Anna would have months of imaginary conversations with Peter. This week she even admitted that while she was talking to him, she was somewhat aware that he wasn’t real.
If any mental health professionals are out there, please let me know, is this a real thing? Can past trauma finally hit you decades later?
And Then an Anti-Hero Comes Along
One thing I loved this week was when Valentin was offering to whisk Anna away and she refused. I loved that she noticed how centered and happy Valentin is with Carly. And I love that Anna wants what is best for Valentin and won’t allow him to sacrifice his hard-won happy life by trying to protect her. I feel so blessed in my life because I am also still friends with my exes and I have experienced that “I want the absolute best for you,” graciousness and have offered it in return. If you have lived a decent number of years, you have probably been in a relationship or two that didn’t work out for a variety of reasons, but you still know that person is remarkable and you want them to thrive in life.
That’s why I love the Jason and Carly friendship, the Anna and Valentin friendship, the Liz and Lucky friendship — it’s a beautiful testament of the way they value one another.
New Kids On The Block
Readers, is it just me, or are you getting a little dizzy over the introduction of so many new characters?
In the past few months, we have added Det. Joe Fitzpatrick, Serena Baldwin, new Scout, Tristan Roberts (ex-WSB and new resident Doctor) Hudson from JJE (or is he?) Agent Baines (in place of our beloved Jack) Dr. Nichols, (Anna’s new shrink) and now I hear we have one more new character joining shortly, a new lawyer who will work for Miller and Davis.
Some Familiar Faces
As for me, I’d rather have Scotty Baldwin and Diane Miller back, and I’d rather have kept Jack Brennan. I like having a new infusion of characters sometimes, but when we lose fan favorites and then get eight new characters, I always wonder why. But maybe there are reasons I don’t understand.
Of the new batch, I like Serena, but not with Michael. I am not crazy about the writers aging Scout, but I really enjoyed the scene with Drew helping Scout with her homework and was momentarily hopeful he might become a better man again.
We know Hudson isn’t who he seems, so I will reserve my judgment until the reveal. Tristan Roberts seems promising as a love match for Britt. I was already a Jonathan Bennett fan from Hallmark — and I like his vibe with Lucas. Agent Baines seems like a “By the book” kind of guy, but at present we don’t know if he’s a good guy or another Cullum. However, if any or all of them disappeared tomorrow, I would shed no tears. I am not emotionally invested in them.
One of the Good Ones
Readers, do you ever look up one day and say, “Wow, I have not fully appreciated how much I love this character?” For me, that character right now is Dante. I have always enjoyed Dominic Zamprogna’s work, but lately, Dante is one of my favorites. When he was being mean to Gio, not so much, but lately I like every scene he is in. Dante has been the voice of reason and harmony lately and I just wanted to say how much I appreciate his work. I am still rooting for him and Liz to date and for Ric to go back to Alexis.
The catalyst for that may happen sooner than later, because when Molly saw Liz posing Dante on the yoga mat during Friday, September 18th, episode, I get the feeling that Molly will make a beeline to Ric and tell him there is trouble in paradise. However, I am torn, because I have been wanting Liz and Jason to have a real go at it for all these years, but perhaps it’s been too long and too many burned bridges for that to happen.
Sweet Sweethearts
I’ve also enjoyed scenes with Molly and Cody. It’s nice to have one sweet couple who are in love and supportive of each other with no drama every now and then. Kristen Vaganos and Josh Bell are adorable together.
Wild Child Drama
And today, I enjoyed the Lulu and Valentin scenes. I think there is potential for the two of them to become good co-parents to their wild child Charlotte. That is if Charlotte doesn’t end up in jail for her latest bad decision. When Valentin asked if Lulu thought Danny was a bad influence on Charlotte, Lulu rightly suggested that maybe Charlotte was the bad influence on Danny. I liked the scenes where Danny tried to reason with Charlotte and tell her that her plan could hurt her worse than it did Drew. She didn’t listen, but he tried.
Since next week’s previews show Danny with Cody in the stables, who is at Drew’s car door that Charlotte is telling to go away? Scout? If so, why would Scout be entering the driver’s side? Willow? If so, I doubt Charlotte would be speaking to Willow like that. It will be interesting to see what happens come Monday.
Bad Scandal
I’m not thrilled that General Hospital’s writers have written a plot where a teenage girl is trying to entrap an older man. I am sure that may happen sometimes, but far more often, the older man is preying on the younger woman. I don’t want them to write Charlotte as an evil skank. Sure, she wants to help Danny see Scout, but this isn’t the way. I predict Lulu rescinds her deal with Valentin and goes to court to get Charlotte back and locks Charlotte in the attic if she sees semi-nude photos of Charlotte in Drew’s car. Who bought Charlotte the skimpy lingerie, anyway?
Heartbreak Bar
Jason informed Carly that he and Britt broke up. She said she was sorry and Jason countered with “You don’t even like her.” Carly said, “I don’t like her, but I know you loved her.” She knows Jason is broken hearted. To be honest, that chemistry the Jason and Britt had prior to Steve Burton’s extended leave didn’t return when he came back. They had a very strong “pals” vibe, but I didn’t see the passion that I saw when they first got together.
Maybe Steve is so in love with his new wife that he can’t even fake being hot for someone else. And frankly, I think his new wife is adorable and I love her cooking videos, so I get it. I wonder what the next chapter will bring to Jason since his mob days are behind him. I hope the writers actually have a plan.
The Trouble With Ava
Now I need to discuss Ava. I am such a fan of Maura West! Any scene she is in is better because she is there. As I mentioned earlier, Ava gladly let Nina be arrested rather than Ava taking the fall. But, when Ava burst into Drew’s house demanding answers, Ava genuinely looked shocked when Drew told her everything he had endured at the hands of Willow and Nina.
An Inconvenient Truth
Drew told Ava about Nina pushing him in his wheelchair into the lake. Ava said, “And then what? The magical healing powers of the Quartermaine lake made you not be paralyzed anymore?” And he told her that Willow and Nina had been drugging him for months, and that he had never had a stroke. Ava looked stunned. She suddenly realized her BFF had been keeping a lot of secrets from her. So, what will Ava do next? Will she do anything to help Nina, or will she be disgusted by her and fully commit to Team Drew?
Don’t hate me for saying this, but I can see Ava and Drew hooking up. They do have some scheming villain chemistry in their scenes together.
Ava was skeptical of Drew’s story. He reminded her of what Nina had done to her in the past. Drew asked Ava if she doesn’t believe Nina is capable of trying to kill him. Ava pointed out, “Drew, anyone who has ever met you is capable of trying to kill you.” Ha.
What Will Happen Tomorrow, Dear Readers?
Will Jason’s broken heart lead him back to Liz? Will Outback dig up Jack in the Quartermaine’s nature preserve? Can Chase conquer his low sperm count and impregnate Willow before he finds out she’s a criminal? Will Hudson claim Phoebe as his own when BLQ and Chase file for divorce? Will BLQ get her stocks back from Lucy, and if she doesn’t will Tracy make it her mission to destroy Lucy?
Is Justine going to cave and go to Sonny’s island to stare at his dimples by the sea — as many, many women have done before? And who will post that “one wrong picture” that will destroy Justine’s career? Will Jordan persuade Brook Lynn to use the Quartermaine influence to get Curtis’ sentence reduced? Or will Jordan ask for the magic scar removal surgery instead and let Curtis rot in jail? Will Lois come back from Bensonhurst when she hears about BLQ’s predicament?

How can Jason and Britt be “over”. They never were! Reminds me of soaps in the old days when something was always in the way of our favorite hopeful couples getting together. Remember Larry Wolek and Meridith from OLTL?
Jason is my favorite but I have to side with Britt this time. he’s not being fair to her.
The WSB wanted Josslyn to take the CEO postion of JJE and pretend that she is “on leave” from the WSB but she keeps going around town identifying as a WSB agent and doing agent stuff.
When Baines was on the phone screaming for a warrant I thought it was for Anna, not Nina. As usual, the WSB does not have any strong evidence against Nina, but so what, they’re the WSB.
Brennan was a large man. When they find his body will it occur to them that Nina could not have moved the body by herself or bury him? What was the cause of death? Maybe he didn’t drown.
Baines is going to extradite Nina. To where? Does the WSB have it’s own country now? WSB Land? When Justine said that even the federal government could not intervene with the WSB that was just insane. This is just plain dumb!
I’d like to know when Jordan and Curtis are going to apologize to Brook Lynn for almost killing her. Jordan says that she aknowledges her role in the accident. Jordan honey, you and Curtis played the only roles in that accident!
Of course, we can’t have a week go by without Curtis lamenting how he and Jordan were “left to die” on the side of the road. Well, Curtis did not have a scratch on him. When the paramedics arrived, Curtis did not mention that they had almost hit another car and forced it off the road and maybe that “other driver’ might need help. No, he was perfectly content to leave the other driver on the side of the road to die.

Random thoughts from the past few weeks and this excellent Tamilu column:
– I finally figured out what is bugging me so much about the casting choice for Serena: She in no way looks or behaves like (a) she has spent her life spending her time, money, and passion on whale/nature consevancy, from mannerisms to glamazon, high-maintenance hair, makesup, and wardrobe choice, or (b) she also in no way looks like or embodies someone who is the biological offspring of Dominique and Scotty, or a sibling to Cody. When they revealed Cody as Dominique’s son, his blue eyes, face, and also general demeanor made it completely plausible. Not this Serena, from physical traits to overall “vibe”, it is not a fit
– I too, want Jack to be found to be alive, but gotta say, the actor they cast as Baines is killing it, and has that special something that makes him your focus whenever he is on-screen. Would love it if we could keep them both! And so happy we finally found someone Joss actually listens to, lol.
– My greatest hope at this point is that Ava will find some way to bring Drew (and Willow?) down and save Nina (can’t believe I’m saying that, actually, Nina has grated on my nerves for a couple of years now,) while using her newfound knowledge to somehow smack Nina upside the head and make her stop enabling her daughter. No no no no no no no! to Ava and Drew going ‘there’, ugh. Sooooo tired of the focus on Drew in this show, and this Drew-Sonny ‘war’ is STOOPID and yet another storyline it looks like they will double down on and drag out forever. Yawn. My FF button is wearing out!

I agree with you Tamilu about the older Scout. I’m not crazy about it either. Did they have to age her just to get a potential girl friend for Rocco? Couldn’t they just introduce someone new? Whenever a girl and boy get together on this show, I feel like I need a geneology chart to see if they’re related somehow.
Drew keeping Scout away from Danny, Alexis and Molly had more impact when Scout was a child. Now that they’ve made her 16 years old it is not as effective. There’s all sorts of ways that they can communicate now. Danny can see Scout in school now that they’re about a year apart. Drew can’t stop that. Scout will be able to do what ever she wants in a year or two and Drew won’t be able to do anything about it.
Scouts’ aging has me wondering about the other currently invisible children. How old is Avery going to be the next time that we see her, or the previously aged Aiden?
I am also on Britt’s side when it comes to Anna trying to kill her. Just because Britt has made her own mistakes that she wants people to forgive her for, it doesn’t mean she has to forgive somebody for their crimes against her. It can be considered hypocritical and that’s fine, but it’s someone’s choice whether or not they want to forgive somebody. Unfortunately for Britt and Anna, they would have to live with that person’s choices.
Emma had also mentioned to Felicia in the hospital that she doesn’t think it’s fair of Britt to want Anna to pay for attempting to kill her since Britt never paid for any of her crimes. While Britt may not have paid for all of her crimes, she turned herself in and was sent to prison for aiding and abetting her father Faison after she went on the run with him. Her release was actually arranged by Anna for helping turn in her own mother. The way people love to rewrite or pick and choose certain parts of history that suit their standpoint is astounding to me.
Jason can claim all he wants that he didn’t believe that Anna was really going to shoot Britt. However, he wouldn’t have tracked Anna to that location and felt he had to talk her down, if he didn’t think there was something to talk her down from. We also saw that when Anna went to shoot, he jumped to cover Britt. He didn’t know that Anna was going to shoot above her head. He thought that she was going to shoot Britt. He can be mad at Britt all he wants for not telling him when she realized that Anna was being held captive by Cullum. Britt thought that she had Huntington’s and that she would die if Colin didn’t provide her with the medication. Anna is a police commissioner and was a WSB agent, so Britt could have thought that Anna would have a better shot at saving herself than Britt would have had at saving her own life if she tried to help.
Britt has no reason to believe that she’s not still in danger just because Anna claims that she realizes what she did was wrong and that she’s going to go seek therapy. Anna was in a psychiatric facility and then decided that she needed to fake being well to get out. How does Britt know she won’t do something like that again? If it’s taken before a judge and the judge rules that she needs to go to a psychiatric facility, Britt would at least feel safer because it’s court ordered and Anna would likely be more closely monitored.
Anna herself is fine with Josslyn reporting her to the WSB, and even told Dante that if something bad is reported about her to the cops that he should believe it. Clearly, Anna feels that she should face consequences, so people like Jason and Valentin trying to prevent those consequences from touching her is clearly not wanted.
It’s literally the day after that Anna tried to kill Britt and bury her in he woods and everyone expects Britt to be in a forgiving mood. I can’t imagine that anyone would be feeling forgiveness that quickly.
