General Hospital Commentary: Darling, Can’t You Hear Me? S.O.S.

Drew sent out an S.O.S. to Elizabeth. Will Willow get the dirt she needs from Jack before someone figures out how to communicate with Drew? Ethan is back, but what is his agenda — and does it have anything to do with Sidwell? Things are getting soapy in Port Charles and Tamilu is her to dish all about it in an all-new General Hospital Commentary for the week ending April 24, 2026.

Dearest readers, if you look at this title and a song starts playing in your brain, you are my kind of person. I have an internal jukebox that provides the soundtrack to my life. When Drew frantically blinked S.O.S. to Elizabeth, the lilting voices of ABBA appeared in my brain. Side note, last year, this very week, I was in Stockholm visiting the ABBA museum with my dear friend Hakan and my husband who pretends he doesn’t watch General Hospital.

We danced. We sang. And we laughed. Oh, what a happy day!

But back to General Hospital.

Drew was definitely not thinking about ABBA when he blinked S.O.S. He was desperately trying to let Liz know that he was not okay. But Liz has never been good with clues. I remember when Ric had Carly locked in the panic room and there was a button that Liz looked at for days and I SCREAMED at my TV “Push the button!” and she finally did, as seen here

Knowing Me, Knowing You

So, I’m not shocked that Liz didn’t understand Drew needed help from his own family. But I know Liz. She will keep thinking about it and when Willow is resistant to the idea of Drew getting a letter board to communicate, Liz will put two and two together, but it could take a month.

And after you watch the YouTube video, marvel at the fact that Liz is dating the man who held a woman hostage in their home again. Yikes. Question: Do we trust Ric? I am leaning towards yes, but his past is so messy.

No One to Hear My Prayer

Readers, I never thought I’d say this, but Free Drew. My heavens, poor Cameron Matheson comes to work every day, gets strapped into a wheelchair and blinks his eyes into exhaustion, I’d imagine. It’s time for Willow to get caught, although in soap cycle terms, I know we have to wait for the big soaps sweeps ratings season for that revelation.

Since Willow is now blackmailing Jack and making him dig up dirt on Drew, I fear that even after she stops drugging him, Drew won’t be able to tell anyone she shot and drugged him because she will have dirt on him, too. Just like Ric, Alexis, Kristina and Ava. They are all criminals and have to stay quiet.

For the longest time I didn’t see any way back for the character of Drew. Drew’s rapid and complete transition to absolute villain from his endearing beginning in the form of Billy Miller as a heroic Navy seal, was puzzling. I remember Drew as the grieving father of Oscar, lover of Sam’s, devoted dad to Scout who carved her name into the wall while he was held hostage for years. Then. when Cameron Matheson came in, they ruined him after he went to prison for Carly.

But what did they do to Drew in Pentonville that hadn’t been done to him while he was held captive before? I never understood the storyline, but I felt Drew had become a lost cause. But after what he has endured in the past few months, being shot, drugged, paralyzed, held captive in a wheelchair, I find myself rooting for him against his crazy wife Willow.

Finally Facing My Waterloo

I want Drew to come out of this and to go immediately to Michael, Tracy, Monica’s grave, Scout, Alexis, everyone and make amends. I want hero Drew back. Also, I want Drew to watch out for Danny until Jason comes back. I want Drew to realize how far he fell and to climb out of the gutter and back on to solid ground. I know many of you won’t agree with me, and that’s okay. But hey, my Daddy was a pastor, and I grew up believing fiercely in the concept of redemption. It’s never too late to turn around.

The Loser Has to Fall (On General Hospital)

But in the same breath, I will say Willow is either pure evil or insane and maybe both. The one phrase Willow keeps repeating is, “I didn’t have any other choice.” Oh honey, yes, you did! Your choice was to become a better person and be someone your ex and the court could trust with your kids again, and instead you proved them right by becoming even more unstable and dangerous.

Mama Mia!

The worst part of this is that Nina knows and is now going along with Willow. I mean, I have loathed Nina since Nixon Falls and I doubt I will ever change my mind about her. My mother was an angel and she loved me with every fiber of her being, but if I hurt someone, shot someone, drugged someone, anything of the kind, she would not willingly become my accomplice. She would convince me to turn myself in. She would visit me in the slammer or the psych ward. But she would not justify my murderous and insane behavior the way Nina is doing for Willow.  Nina, Nelle, Liesl, Britt and Nina’s mom Madeline were all whackadoodle. Only Nathan escaped unscathed. The jury is still out on Cassius.

Britt has come a long way from the woman who stole Lulu’s embryo and impregnated herself. With Rocco’s confession that he is the one who shot Cullum, I know that Britt will do anything to protect him.

Readers, my father-in-law passed away in Ohio, and we drove back and forth to Florida twice in the past month. We were on the road for days and I know I missed some stuff on General Hospital. When I saw Rocco taking a pillow in fluff behind Cullum’s head, I thought, “Since when is Rocco a candy striper?” What did I miss?

Cassius asked Britt to back off when she offered to help him protect Rocco. Cassius thinks that the way she swept Rocco out of Cullum’s hospital room might be construed as suspicious to the evil WSB director. (Frankly, I am more worried about Cullum seeing Joss in his room with a syringe, but that seems to have been dropped…?)  Cassius seemed stunned that Rocco would confide in Britt after Cassius thought he made it clear that Rocco had to keep quiet. But Rocco’s tender little heart won’t let him, it’s too big a burden for him to carry all alone.

Something Good in Everything I See

Finn Carr is absolutely nailing this storyline. His trauma and guilt are visible with every glance of his tortured eyes. He is such a soulful young actor. I am so thrilled the writers trusted him with this storyline and that he gets the chance to shine in such a heavy plot. I am waiting for the day when Dante discovers that Jason covered for his son. This will eternally change their relationship, I think. How can Dante ever feel anything but gratitude to a man who went to prison covering for his son?

Dominic Zamprogna is one of my favorites, and it’s been hard to watch Dante know that something is off with his so but not being able to put his finger on it. Dante and Lulu are getting on so nicely right now, and I can’t decide if Dante will be furious or grateful to Lulu when it all comes out. My money is on furious.

Across town at General Hospital, Jordan is wrestling with the fact that she has facial disfigurement and worries about children running screaming away from her, but from the glimpse under the Band-Aids that I saw, it didn’t seem that bad to me. But again, maybe I missed something.

Hey readers, do you recall when Ava’s face was severely burned and she was disfigured and Valentin traded her the name of a magical Russian doctor in exchange for her silence? I bet Valentin would give Jordan the doctor’s name, too, for a full pardon. Ha.

Lay Your Love On Me

Curtis got super jealous when he watched Isaiah feel his baby kick and became very territorial when Isaih tried to visit Jordan. Sometimes it feels to me that Curtis likes having two women pining for him and he’s mad that he only has one woman now. Jordan hasn’t had any meaningful relationship since they broke up, and I think Curtis enjoyed that. Maybe I am misreading the situation, but that’s the vibe I’m getting.

I was so thrilled to have Ethan Lovett back on General Hospital. Formerly Nathan Parsons, he now goes by Nathan Dean. Several of you have asked me why he changed his name and I don’t have any idea. I Googled it and got an AI response, but since I have no idea if that’s the truth or something AI made up to entertain itself, I will just leave that answer to Nathan.

It’s not a coincidence Ethan is back in town. I’m certain of it. I think Ethan is in town to take down Sidwell. Ric is right that Ethan has an ulterior motive, but in truth, I believe his motive lines up with Sonny’s. Ethan noted that Sidwell tried to kill his mom, his brother, harm Sasha, and now he knows that Sidwell also insinuated himself into Deception, harming Tracy.

Dancing Queen

So, we all let ourselves get excited that maybe Ethan and Kristina would have another go of it, but the writers immediately shut that down the minute he got to town.  I’m a little bummed because there is a lot of history there and Nathan Dean and Kate Mansi had some sparkly chemistry, but alas. I’m not the queen of the soap world. Maybe Ethan will be a love interest for Britt while Jason is away? I can see them working together to take down Sidwell and Cullum.

I loved the Tracy and Ethan scenes as they reminisced over Luke, and Tracy said she didn’t want to hug renowned con-man Ethan while she was wearing valuable jewelry. Haha. Is there any scene that isn’t made better by Jane Elliot?

Slipping Through My Fingers

Ethan mentioned he just visited with Robert, Holly, Sasha and baby Daisy and it’s somewhat comforting to know that Robert is still alive in soap land. But one thing bugs me. If Sasha left to be safe, why isn’t she back now? Michael is home and healed, he has plenty of money, he could buy Sasha and Daisy their own home with 24-hour security. Why does she still have to be in hiding? Daisy will turn a year old in June. Isn’t it time for them to come home?

Willow has gone so far beyond turning babies around in their crib.

One of my favorite scenes this week was Willow fighting with Jacinda, because Jacinda gave as good as she got. The absolute hypocrisy of Willow’s hatred of Jacinda floors me. Is this the same Willow who was banging her kids’ Uncle Drew on the nursery floor with the nanny cam watching? And now, she’s worried about a sex worker being a bad influence on her children? Please.

Count me as Team Jacinda. I was rooting for Jacinda to goad Willow into slapping her and then filing assault charges But, since Willow is a Congresswoman, she probably would have been pardoned or excused because these days no one in government pays for their crimes.

AngelKillereyes

One more Willow rant… The part where Willow was blackmailing Jack over WSB finding? What a reach. Are we expected to believe that a woman who has been in office for one month has that sort of power? If so, it explains why we are so screwed. Also, she asked Jack to get her evidence against Drew that she needs to blackmail him once they stop drugging him to keep him quiet. Is Jack going to cave in to Willow and allow her to manipulate and bully him?

Readers, I know I shouldn’t, but I feel bad for Jack. Chris McKenna is doing a wonderful job as a man who is tortured day and night over his love for Carly and drowning under the weight of everything that is spiraling. Jack Brennan has no one he can trust. No one!

Cullum is a double agent, his assistant Colette was a double agent, even Carly is a double agent. He literally has no one on his side or even to confide in. Can’t we please get Anna back on General Hospital? Can Jack trust Dante, or someone in the PCPD? I know Jack lying to Carly over recruiting Joss was bad, but now the cat is out of the bag and Joss has made it clear it’s her choice to be there. Jack has tried to protect her, and Jason — and other people dear to Carly. Mind you, I am 100% behind the Carly and Valentin pairing, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have sympathy for Jack.

Jack’s recruit Joss is onto something, but she’s heading in the wrong direction. She thinks it is Nathan who is impersonating Faison to drive Anna mad, but instead it was the tag team of Cullum and Pascal. Valentin is perplexed because the timing didn’t add up. If only he could figure out that Anna was in Port Charles until right before they dumped her off on the French countryside. I know Finola Hughes is off screen per her own wishes, but I still desperately miss Anna Devane who has always been the best person in Port Charles for solving mysteries.

Does Your Mother Know

It was good to see Liesl back on Friday’s episode, and her scenes with Felicia rang true. If Liesl showed up in France, Anna — in her deluded state — will assume it’s part of Faison’s plan and go even deeper into madness. I am anxiously awaiting the day when Liesl discovers Nathan isn’t Nathan — and that it’s Cassius, his twin. Yowza.

Britt and Cassius fighting over Rocco was good. I like that Cassius has this chip on his shoulder about how perfect Nathan was, but he’s becoming more like Nathan every day. He is acting in a heroic fashion, protecting those he loves and trying to be a good man, even if it’s only designed to fool people into thinking he is a good man. To quote another of my favorites (Taylor Swift), “They said, ‘Babe, you gotta fake it till you make it’ and I did.”

Cassius is faking being Nathan, and little by little, I think he will be become more and more like him in every way.

Is ADA Turner going to end up pregnant by Sonny’s potent and magical sperm? Will Michael James Scott (starring on Broadway in Disney’s Aladdin musical as Genie) really come and play at the Savoy on General Hospital — or was that just a tease? Will Felicia miss Luke even more when she has to break into the French clinic without the assistance of Dr. Riet Von Schimmerman? Is Jordan’s plight going to cause Lucy to create a new Deception face cream that erases scars?

Will Jacinda show up at Wiley’s baseball practice and toss a few balls to him just to watch Willow squirm? Will Ric and Alexis realize that they are meant to be and move from squabbling and into sex? Is Cody going to cringe every time he and Molly have sex in fear that he is hurting her? Will I ever stop being mad that Marco never discovered that his dad torched Charlie’s Pub before he died?

A Few More

Will the local “German made SUV” dealer in Port Charles be forced to give up his sales list to find all the suspects who had the same vehicle? Is Tracy going to use the same car detailing service that Jason and Sonny used after dead Dalton was in Laura’s trunk? Will the list of people who want Sidwell gone eclipse the number of people who wanted Drew dead? Right now, Sonny, Lucas, Jason, Ric, Laura, Ezra, Ethan, Tracy, Lucy, Britt, Joss, Holly, Robert, Sasha, and heck probably even Daisy are on the list. Am I missing anyone?

Will Kristina accidentally confess to kidnapping Ric while whining about him to Sonny? Will Emma and Gio continue to get cuter and cuter until we can’t bear their adorableness anymore?

Only tomorrow knows dear readers and I will tune in tomorrow as long as there are tomorrows.

Your thoughts on the Drew situation are spot on. I loved everything you said about him, Willow, Nina, and Jacinda. Well done!
