General Hospital Commentary: Fight Face

Trouble looms as Drew and Ava set Sonny up for Sidwell and Curtis’ attack. Will Sonny be able to clear his name before it’s too late? Danny takes it hard when Charlotte is shipped off to boarding school. Will that really keep him out of trouble? A General Hospital commentary for the week ending October 2, 2026.

Dearest readers, this week was the week of angsty teens, black eyes, fat lips, temper tantrums and more on General Hospital!

But before we get into all of that, I need to start off with a slight rant.

Charlotte’s plot to frame Drew blew up in her face and it got her shipped off to boarding school. However, in real life, Bluesy Burke is headed off to college. The powers that be say she will be back during school breaks, etc. I hope that is true. I really love her in the role of Charlotte. She had great chemistry with Valentin (James Patrick Stuart), Rocco (Finn Carr), Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), Lulu (Alexa Havins) and anyone she shared a scene with.

But, in the past, people have left General Hospital, with the insinuation that they will be back, and then…they never come back. I angered people when I said that this week, but it’s true. People were so mad that I had to block some of the because they were enraged by my suggestion that she might not be back. I hope she is back, but I remember the ghost of characters past.

When See You Later Is Goodbye

William Lipton (Cameron Webber) left for college, and we thought he’d be back, but he chose to pursue movies and other TV series. And that’s fantastic. I am glad he had those opportunities. The same with Nicholas A. Chavez, our beloved Spencer Cassadine. We were told he’d be back after he filmed the Monster series for Netflix, but alas, he did not return. Again, he got other opportunities. And where is Hudson West’s Jake Webber? And where is Aiden Spencer?

General Hospital has a bad habit of saying, “Oh don’t worry, they will be back,” without actually having a contract inked out to back up those promises. I would rather they have said, “Bluesy Burke is heading off to college now, let’s wish her well.” And if she shows up again, we can be happily surprised that she is there versus looking for her every Christmas break only to be disappointed. (End rant.)

Good Intentions, but Bad Instincts

Charlotte had good intentions, but very bad instincts. In a week of wonderful scenes, I think the best scene was Lulu, played by the brilliant Alexa Havins, having a mother/daughter talk with Charlotte and telling Charlotte all of the things that could have gone wrong with Charlotte’s plan to frame Drew, up to and including sexual assault or death. I loved that Lulu added in that when people make fake accusations about sexual assault then the next person that makes a real accusation is doubted or not believed and that Charlotte would be adding to that tragedy. What a beautifully written and executed scene.

Now it all makes sense. When I was getting frustrated with Lulu for being so overbearing and tracking Charlotte, it was leading up to this plotline and I didn’t know it. This was a great reminder for me to be patient with the writing because I don’t always know where the story is headed. I have been watching soaps for so long, I always feel that I can predict the outcome. And I can about 90% of the time. But there is that 10% when the writers surprise me and this was one of those times.

Papa Don’t Preach

The lead up to Charlotte being sent to boarding school was powerful. The scenes that Charlotte had with Valentin who finally had to admit that his petite was out of control and needed to be reined in were heartbreaking. Charlotte has always been the apple of his eye and his affection for her always makes me cry. Even now as I am typing this, my eyes are welling up. Why? I had a dad who thought I hung the moon, too, and I miss him so much. I loved to see Charlotte and Valentin, because Valentin doting on his daughter reminded me of how much my own father adored me.

When my dad passed away and my mom and I were going through his things, I opened his wallet and, in his wallet, he had every single one of my school photos from kindergarten through12th grade, plus a pencil drawing I made of him in 3rd grade. I was 43 when he died, and he still had my childhood photos in his wallet.

So, watching Valentin realize he had to send Charlotte away broke my heart, because I knew it broke his heart. James Patrick Stuart can emote like no one else.

James’ scenes with Anna, the amazing Finola Hughes, were equally moving. Valentin was worried that he had been a bad father, but Anna assured him that he had loved Charlotte well, and he had done the best he could. She noted that all parents mess up their kids to some extent. She certainly did with Robin. Which brings me to this… Robin needs to be recast immediately.

There is no way that Anna would be in this state of mental decline and trauma without her only daughter Robin showing up. We need Robin on screen both for Anna and for Emma. I don’t care who plays her. Kimberly McCullough has been gone for so long that most current viewers wouldn’t recognize her if she was in line next to them at Trader Joe’s.

A Long-lost Scorpio

Robin is Anna and Robert’s only child. But I have started to wonder if maybe Dr. Tristan Roberts (Dean Geyer) is going to be Anna and Robert’s son? There were so many missing years for Anna and Robert, so General Hospital’s writers have ample opportunity to retcon this. Maybe Anna found out she was pregnant while Robert was with Holly, or when she was on some mission and put the baby up for adoption? Dean Geyer is 40, so it is possible that he could be Anna’s son. I don’t know why, I just get an odd vibe when they are in scenes together and he seems to know so much about her.

What do you think?

The two boys in Charlotte’s life, her brother Rocco and BFF Danny were quick to blame one another for Charlotte’s fate until it came to blows. But as Rocco pointed out to Scout, the punch was only thrown after Rocco insinuated that Sam would have sent Danny away, too — if she had been alive. Low blow Rocco!

Both Asher Antonyzyn and Finn Carr are remarkable young actors, and they are the Jason and Dante of the future if they want to be. And I hope they do. Both of them have done wonderful jobs of mirroring their on-screen dad’s energy and I feel like the General Hospital casting director has a golden touch almost every time. I hope that Danny and Rocco can come back together and repair their relationship because I couldn’t bear it for them to be lifelong enemies. I think it will take time, but I’m hopeful.

The Trouble With Scout

You know how I said the General Hospial’s casting director has the golden touch most of the time? Well, I hate to say this, but I am just not crazy about new Scout yet. Scout was this sweet, loving little girl, and when they aged her and recast, they made her too much like her father. It’s like Billy Miller’s Drew vs Cameron Mathison’s version of Drew. They turned Scout into the dark version of the character, and all of the sweetness and light of Scout went away.

I went from rooting for Scout to get to see her grandma and her brother, to rooting for her to get sent off to boarding school too, so I don’t have to see her anymore. I just don’t like the writing for new Scout. There have been a few scenes with Kayden Brenna Tokarski that were truly lovely and promising, but this week the character went into Cujo mode and just screamed all week and I went, “Ew. No.”

I hope the writers don’t intend to turn Scout into a little viper. I have hope for the actress if the writers don’t try to turn her into Drew’s mini me villain princess. Friday’s episode left me hopeful again, her scenes with Rocco were charming, but I hated the way she attacked Danny who has risked everything, time and again, just to be a in a room with her for months.

A Bright Spot

I enjoyed the talk that Rocco and Scout had about Sam. Scout was right Sam would not have sent Danny away, no matter what! I am a hopeful fool who still thinks that maybe Sam can come back to life someday. When I saw Kelly Monaco’s post about sobriety, I wondered if perhaps her drinking may have interfered with the show, and that’s why they let her go. So, now that she is sober, maybe coming back is an option again?

All this is just me speculating and has no basis in reality, so don’t start any rumors. I really miss Sam though and I would love to see Kelly come back and save her kids from Drew.

But now I need to talk about another son. Dante. I wish that Dante believed Sonny.

Sure, Sonny has been a criminal and lied about many things over the years, but this time he is not lying. We know for a fact that Ava and Drew set Sonny up by paying off Sonny’s goon Vito to give the order to Sonny’s other goon Sully to beat up Sidwell in prison. Justine has more faith in Sonny than Dante does and that makes me love Justine more. Sonny is so sincere in his quest to become a better man, but after a lifetime of crime, I can see how a lot of people wouldn’t trust that. But his own son?

A Father’s Love, A Son’s Distrust

Dante asked Sonny if he ordered the hit and asked him to take him into account all of the things they’ve been through, and how they’ve come to this place of trust. Sonny looked Dante dead in the eye, and unflinchingly said “No, I did not order the hit on Sidwell.” But Dante does not believe him.

Not only does Dante doubt Sonny, but Dante outright accused Sonny of lying about quitting the mob. He took it a step further, and he also badmouthed Sonny to Gio then he went to Tracy to tell her that all the things she’d said about Sonny all these years were right. Why Dante felt compelled to involve Tracy is a mystery to me at this point.

More Bad Instincts

General Hospital has a problem right now with people who have terrible instincts and act on hunches as though they are facts. Curtis and Jordan were positive that Isaiah was the other driver in their accident. Isaiah was NOT.  Chase was so sure Michael shot Drew. Michael did NOT. Curtis, Trina and Jordan are convinced that Sonny ordered the hit on Sidwell, having learned absolutely nothing from the accident experience. Sonny did NOT. How are two former law-enforcement people like Curtis and Jordan falling for this frame job? Do they really think Sonny would be that sloppy?

And now Dante, Sonny’s eldest son, has already tried and convicted Sonny in his mind for a crime Sonny absolutely did not commit. Ava and Drew threatened Vito and told him he needs to get out of town and never tell anybody that they were involved. Vito said, “And if I don’t do as I’m told, you’ll make sure I never talk again?“ Ava replied, “No. Sonny will take care of that for us.” Oh, Ava.

Will Sonny end up in jail for something Drew and Ava did? I hope not. I am still patiently waiting for Willow and Drew to pay for their crimes. Yeah, I know, I could be waiting forever.

Across town, Trina spread her unfounded allegations to Josslyn who was more than willing to believe the worst of Sonny. Trina said that over the years she felt like Joss had overexaggerated Sonny’s sins, but Trina now realizes that Joss was right all along. I can hardly wait until Trina discovers that her precious Ava is the reason that Curtis is in General Hospital. If Ava ever gets caught for that, or for drugging Brennan and burying him in the tick infested woods.

I know that Sonny is a mobster. I know that he’s a criminal who has gotten away with a million crimes. Perhaps I should be rooting for Sonny to go down even though he didn’t do this, simply because he’s gotten away with so many other crimes. But I am not. I can’t help myself; I love Sonny. My heart is broken that no one believes him. For a minute, I thought Gio was going to believe in Sonny, but then I heard Gio tell Emma, “He says he didn’t do it, but I don’t think that I believe him.” And my heart sank. Oh no, not you, too Gio. Based on next week’s previews, it seems like Justine is going to doubt Sonny, too.

Dark Days Ahead on General Hospital

This makes me afraid that Sonny will sink back into darkness and that the swig of booze he took during the Friday, October 2nd episode, is just the beginning. I’m afraid he will start throwing bottles at the wall again. That wild look in Maurice Benard’s eyes today and that desperate longing internal monologue, “I’m finally doing the right thing, and no one trust me” shone through his sad eyes. Brilliant work.

If Sonny delves into darkness, maybe this will be the time that Brenda finally comes back. Vanessa Marcil and Maurice Benard have teased this possibility for years. Maybe this is the time to make it happen? Brenda comes home and finds Sonny in a ball on the floor and loves him back to life. I would be so all in on that storyline.

Josslyn’s Double Standards

But let’s go back to Josslyn. Over the years as Carly and Sonny were married, Sonny provided constant protection for Joss, a roof over her head, stood by her mother many times and has been a supportive stepdad to her. She hates Sonny but adores Jason — and Jason is actually the one who pulls the trigger for Sonny. Josslyn has such double standards. In her life, Carly, Michael, Jason, her father Jax, and her Uncle Jerry — who is the devil — have all done terrible things, but her laser focus is on Sonny. I will never understand.

Carly and Jason will probably believe that Sonny didn’t order the hit, but Carly is too involved in her own life to play apologist for Sonny right now. Nina would believe Sonny, but she’s in Steinmauer.

A Bright Spot

Speaking of Carly, she stopped by Lucas’ this week and tried to get to know Joe, but the Port Charles Police Department saved him by calling him into work before Carly could pump him for info. Lucas tried to get a confession out of Carly that she was in love with Valentin, but I am not sure she has even admitted that to herself yet. But she totally is, because how could you not be?

I’m looking forward to the Joe and Lucas pairing because I think they are sweet together and, after Brad and Marco, I am ready for Lucas to actually date a good guy who is worthy of him and doesn’t have a secret criminal agenda. It will be a whole new world for Lucas! Van Hansis is so likable as Lucas, I enjoy every scene he is in.

Over at the Quartermaine mansion, Tracy is pummeling Chase to either cut Brook Lynn loose and divorce her or decide to make his marriage work and forgive her. Tracy pointed out that Chase always gives Willow the benefit of the doubt even when she’s lying, but Brook Lynn makes one mistake and he dumps her. However, Chase was unmoved by her logic. He is hanging in limbo, and I am not convinced that it’s because he is so upset that BLQ kept things from him.

I think that part of it is that Chase never got over Willow. Willow is newly single and living right next door in the gatehouse looking up at Chase with Bambi eyes and comforting him. Without that, I think Chase would be fighting harder to save his family. Am I wrong?

His Cheating Heart

I love Josh Swickard, but Chase has always been a little gullible. Remember Nelle? It bothers me that he is so ready to throw away a marriage to a woman who adores him and break up the family of the baby he just adopted because his wife didn’t tell him about a fender bender. I bet I could walk into any town in the U.S.A. and find at least one woman who had a fender bender that she didn’t confess to. “Oh, there’s a dent in the fender? Weird. I don’t know how that got there.” Haha.

Although, that one time I drove into a ditch to avoid hitting a cat and wrecked our car. I was so nervous to tell my husband and he just hugged me and said, “Next time, kill the cat.” Ha!

The Truth Hurts

Michael and Brook Lynn had a blowout over this very topic, which ended up with Brook Lynn pushing her cousin into the lake. Michael was very callous about his cousin’s marriage, but he wasn’t wrong. If left to his own devices, Chase and Willow will definitely cheat. It’s Willow’s thing. She cheated on Chase with Michael. She cheated on Michael with Drew. Now she will seduce the married Chase back into her bed. She’s already fantasizing about it.

BLQ didn’t want to hear what Michael said, but when she pleaded with Chase for them to get a place of their own, work on their marriage and try to heal their family, Chase said, “No.” It was a little too fast. Brook Lynn pressed him on why he wouldn’t consider it, and he accused BLQ of plotting to take him down by moving out and saying he abandoned Phoebe. She did not deserve that.

A Case of Amnesia

Monet and Willow got into Chase’s head, and it seems like he has completely forgotten the character of the woman he is married to. Brook Lynn is the woman who cared for his niece Violet when Finn was in rehab. The one who stood by Chase while Gregory was dying. The woman who cared so much about a stranger’s orphaned baby that she fought to adopt her. The woman who forgave Chase for trying to frame her cousin Michael for murder and supported Chase when he got demoted at work. She’s been a good wife to him and loved his entire extended family well, and now he thinks she would lie to a judge and frame him to steal custody of their daughter? Ugh.

More Trouble Lurks

But the thing we viewers know that the characters don’t is that Hudson is Phoebe’s real dad. No matter if Chase and Brook Lynn make it or not, there is a low probability that Phoebe will be part of their family for long. When I see Hudson showing up at the Q’s, I wonder if he will take advantage of the marital troubles and make a move on Brook Lynn. I cannot see into the future, but I worry that Hudson will inject himself into the situation just like Willow is doing.

I just know it’s all going to get very messy eventually. Chase will eventually find out that Willow is an attempted murderer. BLQ and Chase will eventually discover Phoebe’s real dad is in their midst. And I am still somewhat convinced that Hudson is Jerry Jack’s son, which, if I guessed right, would make Phoebe Josslyn’s niece.

When Michael isn’t meddling in BLQ’s marriage, he is offering Jordan a chance to be beautiful again by getting her an appointment with his doctor in Baden-Baden, Germany to get her burn scars removed. She was hesitant because of the timing and Curtis being in the hospital.

But, after Jordan’s painful run-in with her (surprise) sister Monet Mitchell (Blythe Howard), I think Jordan will be inclined to take Michael up on that offer.  What a truly wretched sister to see your sister for the first time in ages and mock her over burn scars. I seriously hate Monet already.

Law And Disorder

The thing is, General Hospital has so many lawyers already: Alexis Davis, Ric Lansing, Diane Miller, Martin Grey, Scotty Baldwin. I would rather have Diane Miller or Scotty Baldwin back. But it’s clear the writers have a storyline in mind for Jordan and her sister to unravel some of Jordan’s history. I will be patient and see where this goes.

It’s suspicious to me that Monet made a beeline to Curtis. What are her intentions for getting involved with her sister’s boyfriend? I doubt they are good intentions considering the way those two sisters came at each other. Bad blood is running through the streets of Port Charles.

Wrong Direction

I’m also mad that Trina ran to Gio to tattle on what she thinks Sonny did. Trina used to be one of my favorite characters and now I’m (almost) rooting for her stalker. Every scene she is in is just raging against someone. I liked Trina better as an art student who was in love with Spencer. I think the only way to fix what’s broken in her is for Spencer to come back. I’m not crazy about Kai. I’m not interested in Trina’s new musical career. After telling her parents she didn’t want her whole life being involved in their problems, her whole life is being involved in their problems. I hope someday we get old Trina back.

Some Love for Lulu and Tracy

Another standout scene for me this week was the heart to heart with Lulu and Tracy during Friday’s episode. Jane Elliott is so fantastic that she elevates every scene she is in. But I loved her memory of young Lulu so much. Alexa Havins bears such a resemblance to Julie Marie Berman, I almost think they could use old flashbacks of Lulu and Tracy, and it wouldn’t be too jarring.

Tracy gave Lulu sound advice, and when Lulu went home and saw Rocco and Scout kissing, she didn’t make an issue of it, so perhaps she is going to try and take Tracy’s advice and give Rocco some space.

Will the General Hospital’s makeup people get an Emmy nod for their work for making Sidwell look like he had realistically taken a beating? Will Mac, Felicia, Trina, Jordan, Curtis, Joss, Gio, Dante, Emma, Mac Felicia, and Justine all apologize to Sonny for falsely accusing him when they find out he’s actually innocent? Are Molly and Michael going to become BFF’s now that they discovered they are good at brother/sister talks? Will Justine tell Jordan that Sonny IS one hell of a lay and that she should be so lucky? Will Scout learn to be afraid of her dad after she finds out he buried Brennan — after Outback digs him up?

Only tomorrow knows dear readers and I will tune in tomorrow as long as there are tomorrows.
