General Hospital Commentary: And she was…

General Hospital Commentary: And she was…

It was an exciting week in Port Charles as Lucas joined forces with Sonny and Laura, and Jack sent Nina to pass along a message to Valentin. Is there a future for Cassius with the WSB — and Josslyn? Let’s discuss that and more in an all-new General Hospital Commentary for the week ending June 5, 2026.

Dear readers, back in the 80’s was this band called Talking Heads, and they had this song called “And She Was.” This week on General Hospital, Nina snarled, “I hope she was worth it!” to Valentin, and he passionately responded, “She was.” My giant jukebox brain started spinning this tune in in my brain. That line and its delivery made me swoon.

I could spend this entire column rhapsodizing about “Varly.” Valentin and Carly have taken us by storm. Watching the internet feed blow up every time they glance at one another, I hope the powers that be realize they’ve struck gold with these two and don’t immediately break them up.

And, if you have read my columns for any length of time, you will know that I am not Nina’s biggest fan (all the while loving Cynthia Watros!) but right now I also see some sparks with Nina and Jack. Although it is a little creepy how Nina and Carly have shared so many lovers. When Carly snuggled up to Valentin in front of Nina it made me giddy. Can we just have an entire Carly and Valentin episode once he’s truly pardoned and free man? I love them together, but I also love how much Nina hates them together.

I ask you my friends, should I give Nina points for not injecting Jack again? Maybe. It is risky to her and to Willow, because Jack could blab about their crimes at any point in time, but Nina feels guilty for crippling Jack in the first place. This show is so silly sometimes.

I would think that some new hot detective like Joe Fitzpatrick trying to make a name for himself would ask the same questions Carly asked Nina, “Why did two healthy men have strokes at Willow’s house?” and start digging around. But hey, Dante is the Police Commissioner and no longer working the streets, Chase is hanging out at the pool with Willow, and Joe just got started. The PCPD needs some new recruits. Maybe Cam should come home and go to the police academy? We need more than one working cop.

An Innocent Afternoon Delight

Back to Willow. Chase said to BLQ, “Hey, it was all an accident, Willow just stopped by to look for a toy.” Okay, sure, but then why was she in her bikini and in the lake at her ex-husband’s house? I mean, she did disrobe at some point. She didn’t come to the house in her swimsuit, right? Also, if I am with a guy and we are both in our bathing suits, and I sidle over to him and put my hand on his shoulder… it’s not innocent. (Cue Dan calling me a hussy!) Sure, Tracy jumped to conclusions, but was she totally off base after what she witnessed?

However, I saw an interview with Katelyn MacMullen, and she swears that Willow’s motivations are pure. She said that Willow truly is not trying to seduce Chase. She is offering him this job because she knows he got fired helping her. Remember Willow knows she actually did shoot Drew. I am so excited for the day when Chase sees the light and discovers that Willow lied to him during the entire trial. But right now, BLQ is lying to him, too. Which secret will come out first?

The weird thing about Willow right now is that she’s a terrible person doing dastardly things, but she is also trying to be a good congressperson and actually help the people in her district. I mean, far be it from me to say, but I wish half of our congresspeople right now were assholes at home but were still trying to do a good job at running our country, instead of just being assholes all the time.

Phoebe’s Daddy

Readers, please don’t hate me, but I see a potential scenario forming. First, we were right when we suspected that Ethan was Phoebe’s daddy. That’s a baby Spencer. That’s Luke’s granddaughter!

So, let’s suppose that Chase and BLQ adopt Phoebe. Then their marriage implodes. Then Ethan starts hanging around the Q mansion to visit Tracy (and to spy on Phoebe) and he and BLQ start spending more time together. I can see a potential BLQ and Ethan pairing because I don’t think it’s going to be as easy to let Phoebe go as he thinks it is. Imagine when Tracy finds out that the baby living in her household is Luke’s granddaughter! Heaven help anyone who comes near Phoebe for the rest of time.

Brook Lynn’s Secret

If Chase finds out Brook Lynn is withholding info from him on Curtis and Jordan’s accident, he will lose it.  Despite the fact that she did not cause the accident, did not do any damage to either of them, despite that Jordan and Curtis caused their own accident, and that BLQ didn’t even know there was an accident until after the fact.

But Willow is an attempted murderer, not once but continually because every time she injects Drew, she has no idea if that drug will impact him like when she first jabbed him in the neck!

What The Future Holds

I feel like this storyline is going to have a very long arc. Chase and BLQ will break up, he will get together with Willow, then he will find out Willow is guilty, and someday, far off in the future, he and Brook Lynn may reconcile.

Heck, I can even see Willow and Drew reconciling. I can hear you right now saying “No way! That will never happen!” But if you are a longtime General Hospital viewer, watching Liz dating Ric again after all the truly messed up things he did, you know that soaps can rewrite or ignore the past.

For instance, Ethan saying he grew up in an orphanage instead of actual General Hospital history, which is that he was adopted by the Lovetts who raised him until they died when he was 15 and then he struck out on his own.

Another example of history changing, and this might be my favorite, concerns Josslyn. Josslyn has been playing at Wyndemere since she and Spencer were kids, and yet she tried to escape through the front door! She is now a trained spy, but as a kid, she spent lots of times on the grounds at Wyndemere and probably knows 30 ways out of that castle. Does anyone remember Spencer’s birthday party when he was burned in a fire? Anyone remember the Chupacabra storyline with the kids all at the Cassadine stables where Heather Webber convinced the kids there was a monster hiding in the tack room?

I went on YouTube searching for videos of Spencer’s birthday party where he was burned and it said, “This video has been removed due to violating YouTube’s standards.” So, apparently, they don’t want videos of kids on fire. I get it. But I did find this gem of all the kids at Kelly’s diner when they were little. Enjoy the video and just trust me, this is not Josslyn’s first trip to Wyndemere, she has been visiting there her entire life.

Also, a montage of Spencer as a kid with glimpses of other General Hospital kids.

Agent Jacks’ Great Escape

But Josslyn making all the power go out on Spoon Island by taking out a light bulb and rearranging the wires? Hey electricians in the crowd – is that even possible? And then she gets out and goes to the front door? I howled. When I went to tweet about it, I saw Liz beat me to the punch.

I know Ava told Valentin that the tunnels were supposedly sealed off, but isn’t there a back door, or 12 side doors? I mean this is a castle. Last year, I went to Europe and toured lots of castle type buildings and there were a plethora of paths and entrances in every single one.

Busted By Sidwell

But alas, Josslyn was met at the front door by an armed Sidwell, and after Cassius stopped Jenz from killing her, Josslyn is back in basement jail. On the upside, soon she will have a roommate as Cullum kidnapped Liesl at the end of Friday’s episode, and next week’s previews show an unconscious Dr. O. in the room with Josslyn.

My dear readers, Kathleen Gati is one of my favorites. Dr. Liesl Obrecht is a fantastic character. Before being kidnapped, she caught on to Willow and Nina’s schemes, saw Drew blinking S.O.S. and warned Nina that her daughter Willow was a viper, not a victim. Liesl told Nina that Willow would turn on her, but I didn’t hear Nina offer up that Willow already did turn on her by making her inject Drew and blackmailing her. Nina refuses to see that she spawned a second Nelle.

Speaking of being blackmailed, Lucas saved Sonny and Laura from blackmail if…IF Pascal was telling the truth and there are no extra copies or digital copies of the photos of Dalton’s body. And if Sidwell doesn’t have backup plans to continue to control them. Also, if Lucas hasn’t just been busted after his second break-in of Jenz’s safe, etc. I don’t think we can pop the Champagne and celebrate just yet.

But I hope it’s soon because this has all dragged on far too long.

Cassius’ Next Move

I am looking forward to next week. Imagine when Cassius is forced into being his mother’s captor! I mean, Pascal is gone, who else is going to feed and water the hostages? Jack is in the hospital, so Ross Cullum will have to show up at the WSB office at some point, right?

Imagine if Joss has to tell Liesl that Nathan isn’t Nathan — and that Liesl’s other son kidnapped Joss and has been holding her for weeks! Imagine if Liesl and Joss team up to escape or to ruin Sidwell and Cullum’s project! That all sounds so exciting for me.

May-December Romance

I know there is a lot of differences of opinions on the Josslynn and Cassius dynamic. I know Eden McCoy is twenty years younger than Ryan Paevey. But seriously, so what? Remember Ava and Morgan? Nikolas and Catherine Bell? Sonny and Emily? It’s not that General Hospital has never had couples with massive age differences before. I still like their banter. I mean, make it like Bruce Willis and Cybil Shepherd in Moonlighting, and keep that sexual tension sizzling for a year. Just keep them onscreen together. They have that thing that makes it hard to look away.

Pascal’s Getaway

Okay my fellow soap lovers, tell me on a scale from 1-10 how loud you laughed when Pascal was desperately trying to get away. First, everyone knows you have to take a launch to get on or off of Spoon Island. I have questions. Where was that parking lot? How did Pascal get there? How did Sonny know where to find his car? Where was Pascal going to drive other than to the launch where Sidwell’s boat would be waiting for him? I will say our show was interrupted that day, so maybe I missed how Pascal got off the island? If so, please fill me in. All I knew was Pascal escaped, and then suddenly he was in the car.

But all of my questions aside, the scene where Pascal was trying to start his car and Sonny leaned over, fist full of wires saying, “Need a lift?” had me howling! I know I shouldn’t love Sonny when he behaves like a thug, but heaven help me, I do.

Laura Puts Her Foot Down

Sonny wants to end Sidwell, take him on a little trip to the Pine Barrens, and be done with him, but Laura told Sonny she can’t look the other way while Sonny murders someone. She wants to do things on the up-and-up, turn Sidwell in for murdering Dalton, and have him convicted legally. But Laura knows that it won’t be easy to take Sidwell down.

Lucas is the surprise here. He’s willingly working with Sonny, breaking into people’s safes, and anything else to get justice for Marco because his guilt is so steady and strong. If Lucas hadn’t asked Marco to get a vial of Britt’s meds, Marco might still be alive, so Lucas feels compelled to take down Sidwell and his gang of villains to make Marco’s sacrifice worthwhile.

Time To Say Goodbye

I love Carlo Rota. He’s been a mesmerizing villain on General Hospital, but sadly, his time has come to an end. As with all villains, they have to lose at some point and our heroes have to win, even when our heroes are as flawed as Sonny and Britt. Pascal may be the first to go, but Cullum and Sidwell have to go, too. If Laura gets her way and Sidwell gets arrested versus murdered, that means a few years down the road, Sidwell can come back to town to play another day, but I will be shocked if that happens. I think all three: Pascal, Cullum and Sidwell will die. I mean, Jason is coming back soon, and he won’t be taking any chances.

But Jack? He’s no villain. He’s a good guy who made some errors in judgment. I would love him to stick around and take over the WSB again once he recovers. First, he has to free Valentin and drop all the pending charges against him so Valentin can keep canoodling with Carly. I insist. Second, Jack has to make amends with Joss and Carly, which I believe he will. Third, when Anna gets back to Port Charles, I can see Jack being instrumental in her recovery by showing her that she was duped into believing Faison was alive. And lastly, I think Jack has to recruit Cassius Faison. Because I don’t want to lose Cassius.

But back to General Hospital disregarding history. So, Kristina is going to med school. Sure. Okay. She was pre-law before, but like Paris Gellar on Gilmore Girls, sometimes genius girls can get into both med school and law school and struggle to decide which passion to follow. But this is Kristina we are talking about, a girl who fell for a cult leader, and who has never one time mentioned being interested in medicine. I get that Kate Mansi quit and that they have to write her off.

So, my theories are as follows. Either the powers that be are giving her an extended time off for a project and know she will be back in a year or two — or they are eliminating the discussion we are all having about immediately recasting with Lexi Ainsworth by sending the character to L.A. for four years. There’s also a possibility it’s the first idea that popped into their heads at the writers’ room discussion table. I used to be in creative meetings all the time and lots of ideas started with “Hey! I know! Let’s say she’s going to med school!” and everyone else just says “Sure, cool,” so the meeting can be over.

Kristina’s Future

At first, I rejected the new Kristina and new Molly because the originals were let go so abruptly after Haley Pullos’ troubles. And they had a merry-go-round of Mollys. Kristen Vaganos lasted, and I have come to appreciate her in the role. I came to accept Kate Mansi in the role of Kristina too, but I loved Lexi so much that it was hard for me to ever embrace Kate in the same way. If Kristina is really off canvas for four years of medical school, I think that will be a shame because she’s a confidant of Michael’s, and a character who has ties to half the town. But every time she says she is going to med school, I keep trying to picture her coming back as Dr. Davis and I just can’t. Am I being a jerk?

I thought maybe Ethan was coming back and they were going to put the two of them together, but I was wrong. I already told you about my theory on Ethan and BLQ, but what if instead Ethan is paired with Ava? They had a little somethin’-somethin’ too, but Ava has chemistry with everyone so it’s hard to say. Ava thinks Ethan is using the Qs as a mark – saying they can have Phoebe and then hitting them up for money once they are attached to her. But I believe his sincere motives. But now that Ava has put the idea in his head, who knows?

Will Valentin and Jack “ex machina” again — or “in omnia paratus” or “carpe diem” each other again? Will Pascal bid au revoir to Port Charles or summon the savoir faire to get out of his current predicament? IsJoe Fitzpatrick, like Detective Taggart before him, going to realize the PCPD is not really a “by the book” sort of place?

Will Willow accidentally end up in her bikini at the office the first day Chase comes to work for her? Will anyone on Willow’s team, her, Chase or Kai ever go to Washington D.C. at all? Is anyone from General Hospital going to share a piece of their 16,000th episode cake with us?

Will the newly SORASED (Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome) Scout be more like Sam and fight anyone who gets in her way? (Bring back Kelly Monaco!) Will Jacinda heed Chase’s warnings about Michael or will she be Chase’s next love interest once he finds out both Willow and Brooke Lynn are liars? Will Drew have to get new Mr. Magoo glasses after spending months rolling his eyes?

Couldn’t Lucas have just let Pascal have one single necktie? Will Liesl crack me up with more hilarious one-liners like “I don’t care about your scheming, just do it better.” Hahaha. Will Carly let Valentin move into her bedroom now that most of the town knows he’s hiding there anyway?

Only tomorrow knows dear readers and I will tune in tomorrow as long as there are tomorrows.

    Who do you think the ‘Z’ is that Jack was referring to when he was talking to Valentin? Supposedly ‘Z’ is the ONLY one who can find Joss and stop Cullum. If this person is SO powerful, why didn’t Jack call him months ago when he realized Cullum is a double agent? GH is adding a new character named Tristan Roberts (as a tribute to Tristan Rogers). Although he seems very young could this be ‘Z?’

  2. JDF

    Yes Tamilu, Pascal escaped Wyndemere and was next seen in his car. I was surprised that he even had a car because he never seems to leave the island.
    I loved Lexi as Kristina as well. I could not warm up to KM, mostly due to how they changed Kristina into a screw up.
    I warmed up to KV as Molly due to how they changed Molly. I found HPs’ Molly to be annoying. She was Ms. Political Correctness. If I had to hear “domestic partner” one more time…..
    On GH, it doesn’t take four years in med school to become a doctor.

    Chase is so clearly jealous of Michael and Chase is becoming quite the weasel. I guess Chase doesn’t realize that if he works for Willow as chief of staff, he will have to spend half his time in DC even though Willow never seems to be in DC. Willow is one of 435 members of Congress. One who is a freshman Congresswoman who has been on the job for a few months and not elected to boot. She does not have any power or influence. Can the writers just stop this nonsense?

    First Sidwell is convinced that Sonny killed Marco. Then he becomes suspicious of Lucas. Now, just as easily, he is led to suspect Pascal. This is a criminal mastermind?

    It was pretty obvious that Cullum was going to snatch Liesl to finish “the project’, but I think that he is biting off more than he can chew. “Doctor NO” of James Bond fame was nothing compared to our Dr.O!!

    Happy Pride Month Y’All!!
    Tamilu, I wrote this last night before I read your post.
    So, any identical comments? Great Minds Thinking Alike again!

    I’m guessing that Droopy Dawg Brennan is going along with the “Stroke” Ploy because he knows that if Cullum discovers he’s NOT incapacitated,
    Cullum will Indeed Make It So.
    Now Ninny is In Cahoots with Droopy Dawg, huh?
    ::Fascinating::
    You know what’s NOT Fascinating?
    Agent Barbie’s entire conversation, or whatever that was, with Pascal in the Wyndemere Catacomb Yoga Studio?
    I pretty much dozed off during all of their scenes.
    I wonder what he brought her for lunch?
    That much, I would be interested in.
    ~~~
    I don’t trust this Officer Joe guy as far as I could throw him.
    First of all, is it a requirement now for all the PC Clown Squad Cops to have Dark Brown Hair and Short Beards?
    You got Dante, Chase, NotNathan, and New Cop Joe standing together, they look like they’re auditioning for the Dating Game or something.
    Then he keeps going on about “Favoritism”.
    Dude, you picked the Wrong Town if that’s your concern.
    ~~~
    So, Lucy injured her Fetlock, oops I mean Arm, in a Pole Dancing Accident?
    Was she rehearsing for the Nurses Ball?
    They doing that Thing this year?
    LooseLips Coe giving BLQ Relationship Advice.
    That’s a Hoot!!

    Maxi and Spinelli are in the Grand Canyon with the Invisible Kids, huh?
    When they return, will Bailey Lou be a Teenager?
    Will James be in College?
    Will Georgie be enrolled in Medical School as well?

    Hey what’s that under Sidwell’s Couch?
    Looks like Agent Barbie left her Secret Decoder Ring there so Lucas could find it!
    That’s Brilliant.
    Except Sidwell will probably find it first!
    ~~~~
    It looks like we were all correct.
    Baby Pebbles is Ethan’s “Lovett” Child!
    Now what?
    BLQ’s gonna adopt Pebbles, Chase is gonna prance around Port Charles and Washington DC with CongressBroad Wallow.
    Brooky will be home alone with the Baby, Ethan will visit, and Romance will Ensue??
    Cannot wait until Tracy finds out that Pebbles is Ethan’s Lovett Child.
    You know she will.
    ~~~
    How does a Busy Congress Broad like Wallow find time to do Physical Therapy with Zombie Drew and Ninny?
    Didn’t they hire someone to do that, or is he on Eternal Vacation as well?
    I love Liesl: “Stop this RIDICULOUS Physical Therapy at Once!”
    My sentiments exactly.
    ~~~
    Are Sonny, Laura, and Lucas really that Gullible that they believe there are NO copies, digital or otherwise, of those “Incriminating Photos”?
    And just WHY did Lucas go BACK to Sidwell’s Safe?
    Of course Sidwell walks in.
    He could always say he was looking at Marcos’ Picture, which he was.
    But he won’t.
    I’m looking forward to Wyndemere Shenanigans with Liesl.
    Let’s hope she gets locked in with Agent Barbie!
    Won’t that be Fun!!
  5. Michael
    It would have been much more believable and made more sense if Kristina had said Blaze called her and asked her to join her on her tour and she left for that reason. The med school thing was so out of left field and makes no sense.
  6. Ruthie
    I think that newcop Joe is going to be Lucas’s next love interest. I know there are women in the cast who need someone new, but I am pretty sure Joe is there for Lucas, unless the other new guy, Tristan, will be that guy.
    Also, how can Alexis just accept Ethan’s claim to be Phoebe’s father? He says he didn’t even hear about it for six months. Obviously, someone would think to administer a DNA test here. I am sure that there is more to this story and that Ethan is protecting Phoebe from a far worse father than we have heard of yet. Alexis, Chase, Brook Lynn, are you all brain-dead?
    • JDF
      Ethan in a photo with Delilah translates to him being Phoebes’ father? And he says yeah, you got me! That doesn’t sound like a seasoned conman to me. I can only imagine that he said that because Phoebes’ real family is so much worse.
    • Kam
      I also suspect that Joe Fitzpatrick might be Lucas’s next love interest
  7. Ryan
    Tamilu, what did you think of Nina calling Michael a monster? That pissed me off.
