General Hospital Commentary: Nanny Cams Gone Wild!

Nanny cam drama, another shocking death, and a reversal of fortune made for a week of soapy goodness, but are the writers headed in the right direction? Tamilu has a lot to say in this week’s General Hospital commentary for the week ending December 13, 2024.

Dear readers, as soon as Michael offered up his phone to stream the football game, I suspected something was about to go wrong. I didn’t think we would actually see mostly naked Willow on the Q’s big-screen TV, but hey, now the Q’s have a new holiday tradition to rival the Thanksgiving pizza. Scandal-mas is born.

This storyline is juicy from every angle. Drew and Willow’s affair is now out in the open. Sasha is pregnant with Michael’s baby after their one-night stand. After Willow and Michael’s marriage breaks up, Sasha won’t have any reason not to tell Michael about the baby. Can you imagine how enthused Carly will be with the idea of a new grandchild? She always liked Sasha back when Michael was dating her, and once Carly discovers Willow cheated on her son with Carly’s ex-lover Drew, I would bet cash money that Carly will be on Team Sasha. Which, if you think about it, ew. Drew has slept with Sam, Carly, Nina, and Nina’s daughter Willow. Three of Sonny’s exes. Brenda should come to town so Drew can sleep with her, too.

Drew is supposedly headed off to Washington, but when news of his sex scandal breaks, will he still be sworn in? Of course, here in 2024, it seems most everyone has a sex scandal, so he would fit right in with all the other degenerates in D.C. I suppose.

Drew and Willow’s affair was caught on a nanny cam and it seems Ned and Tracy aren’t only fans of the video, but they seem to think it’s the funniest thing since I Love Lucy.

I am reveling in this and any storyline that isn’t Molly and Kristina-centric. These two characters, who have historically been background characters trotted out at holidays and occasional sightings, have taken over the entire show at the expense of many other far more riveting storylines. I’m so bored with them. I used to love Kristina, and I got giddy when I saw Lexi Ainsworth show up in town. But this dead baby storyline has me despising a character I once adored.

Jason came back from the dead and got less airtime. Lulu came out of a coma and got less airtime. Lucky escaped from gangsters and thugs while doing mercenary work and got less airtime. Sam died at Cyrus’ hand and got less airtime. All of these characters are more interesting than Molly and Kristina. Can we please be done with them now? The baby is dead, the trial is over, Kristina has a new bar job, Molly is single and ready to mingle, and they can both fade into the background until the 4th of July fireworks. Please.

This is also for Alexis, who got her law license back after a great time, trauma, and effort and has yet to go back to practicing law and taking on cases because she has to coddle her two grown daughters all the damned time. Can Alexis please have a career and a love life again?

Of course, it won’t be with her ex-Ric because Alexis is furious with him and because he and Ava have taken a shine to one another. The pairing of Ric and Ava is soapalicious to me. Sonny hates Ric with every fiber of his being, and Sonny and Ava have slipped from frenemies to full-on enemies who only stay civil for Avery’s sake.
Sonny will loathe Ava and Ric as a couple, which is why it must happen. I don’t know why I love hearing Sonny snarl Ric’s name the way I do, but it brings me sick soap joy every time.

Sadly, Sonny is still stuck in the dud pairing with Natalia. When they started talking about her estranged son last week, I screamed “NO!” at my TV because what we don’t need right now is for any more of Natalia’s family to show up in Port Charles and give her more airtime. This has nothing to do with Eva La Rue. She’s a fantastic actress, but I don’t like or care about her character. There’s no spark.

But the embers are still blazing over in Lucky and Liz’s territory. When Liz pulled out Cameron’s guitar and Lucky sang that sweet song, he wrote for Liz, my Grinch heart grew three sizes. I loved the two of them picking out a Christmas tree together and spending genuine time with one another. The flashbacks of those early years of their love story were both beautiful and poignant. I am rooting for those two to find their way back together.

In a huge Friday shocker, Dex died suddenly and unexpectedly. We saw it coming, but I was still stunned that the writers actually killed him off. Now that Dex has died under Liz’s care, just like Sam, it seems like Liz will be fighting to prove she is not a murderer instead of having a Christmas romance with Lucky as I hoped becauseโ€ฆGH won’t let us have nice things.

Just this week, Dex started to get the backstory of his family life and childhood. I thought we would find out who his parents were and where he came from. Then, two days later, he’s dead as a doornail. Color me annoyed. I like Evan Hofer very much and enjoyed the romance between Dex and Joss. I hope they didn’t kill off Dex to try and pair Joss with Gio.

First, a dead Christmas baby, and now dead Christmas Dex? Why? Josslyn had already lost one boyfriend when Oscar lost his battle with cancer. Two dead boyfriends before her 21st birthday? If Joss decides to drop med school and go into a convent, who could blame her? This one was especially harsh because Joss and Dex were a popular couple who fought hard to be together. They weathered a myriad of obstacles, such as her cheating on Cameron to be with Dex, Sonny telling Dex to stay away from Joss (which he did not do), Sonny finding out Dex was working for Carly and Michael as a spy, Dex becoming a cop and a gunshot wound prior to this week’s stabbing. Not to mention the fact that we have already lost the pairing of Spencer and Trina. Why can’t we have any happy young lovers?

It seems clear that General Hospital is cleaning house at year’s end and has anointed Saint Cyrus as their serial killer. First, Sam, now Dex, tried (and failed) to kill Lulu. I wonder who’s next? Or will Cyrus get killed himself the next time he tries to off someone? No hospital on earth would ever allow Cyrus to come into the hospital as an unsupervised volunteer with his criminal record, regardless of whether or not he claims to be redeemed.

I would love to be in the GH writer’s room for just one day to try to figure out their mindset. “Hey, let’s keep Natalia, whom everyone dislikes, and kill off Dex, who most viewers enjoy.” Let’s keep having days and days of Molly and Kristina screaming at each other instead of young lovers Joss and Dex sharing Christmas together.

Sorry, Dante. The PCPD is down to just you and Chase again. Sometimes, Mac is a cop when he isn’t babysitting James, and sometimes Jordan is a cop when she forgets she switched jobs to Deputy Mayor, and sometimes Robert is a cop when he’s not globetrotting with Holly.

And then there is Police Commissioner Anna Devane. Dearest readers, what on earth have they done to my Anna?

First, we had Anna bullying Carly, a civilian, to plant a bug in Jack Brennan’s office. What? Since when would Anna do such a thing? Next, we watched in disbelief as Anna worked with Jason to kidnap Martin. Why on earth would she do that? Why not just call him in for a casual chat before sending Jason to kidnap him? As Martin mentioned, he is Laura’s brother, and Charlotte is his niece, so if he knew where she was, he would be cooperative. No need to drag him in as a hostage. I just don’t understand this show anymore.

Does Jason work for Sonny, or did he accept the WSB role from Jack Brennan? He is working both sides of the law on a whim and helping anyone who needs muscle. And what about Anna? Is she concerned with upholding the law, or does she not care anymore? I remember not too long ago that Anna was lecturing Sonny about his tactics, and now she is employing the same tactics she judged him for using.

Have the writers yet to decide what to do with Jason? When Steve Burton first came back to General Hospital, he came in the midst of a writers shake up. According to interviews, he was given one plot line when he signed on and a different plot line once he arrived. But now they are just winging it because there doesn’t seem to be any steady thread of an outline for a storyline for him. I love Steve Burton and having Jason back in Port Charles, but I want some clarification on what the writers have in store for him. By the books, law-abiding, single dad working part-time for the WSB, or hit man for the mob?

Jason has no love interest and has had very few scenes with Sonny. The most compelling relationship Jason has right now is with Danny, and I appreciate that part. If the plan is to have him focus on fatherhood, I’m all for it. But the writers need to decide that that’s their direction and stick to a path.

Also, after all these years, the writers have run out of things for Carly to do. Carly’s entire storyline has been jumping into the middle of other people’s storylines instead of having one of her own. Is she going to have a relationship with Jack Brennan? If so, let’s get to it. Is Carly still supposed to be in a fake relationship with Sonny as an alibi for his murder of Jagger? It seems we have completely dropped that storyline, and everyone forgot that Jagger was murdered altogether.

This may be the first time since Carly’s introduction as a character that she has not had a love interest. Certainly, we can see the writers toying with a Jack/Carly pairing, but it has yet to go anywhere. For a while, the forced pairing of Carly and Sonny as an alibi for murder led many viewers to suspect it was a ploy for the writers to reunite Carly and Sonny. That never materialized, either. I mentioned some of this in my last column, but it’s still exactly the same as I left it last month!

I have a very bad habit: I have to know the end of a story. If I am watching a show and it’s really bad, and I want to quit watching it, I can’t because I still have to find out what happened. This is extremely hard to do with General Hospital these days because many storylines never end. We have a storyline that builds up for months, comes to a big head, and then just vanishes off the canvas.

And then suddenly, new storylines pop up. For example, today, we found out that Ava is broke, and the Cassadines somehow rescinded her divorce settlement. Is that even a thing? I don’t think that it is. I don’t think that another family member can take money back from another family member’s divorce settlement. Is there any lawyer out there who wants to correct me?

Whatever. It gave Lucas a chance to be in Auntie Ava’s orbit, and I am enjoying their burgeoning Aunt/Nephew relationship. I’m also interested in seeing what happens with Brad and Lucas at the medical symposium because their reunion has been a long time coming.

I am enjoying Lulu’s return and how each encounter she has brings a new dagger to her heart as she discovers everything and everyone she has missed during her 4-year coma. People who have died, romantic pairings like Valentin and Nina no longer being an item seemed like a shock to her. Everything she thinks she knows is proving to be wrong.

Alexa Havins is doing a fantastic job capturing Lulu’s fire, humor, passion, and willpower. I finally understand why people familiar with her previous work were so excited that she was coming to Port Charles. The one reunion I haven’t seen yet — and desperately want to see — is Tracy and Lulu’s reunion. Their prior relationship dynamic was always special and watching them reconnect in this new incarnation of Lulu should be powerful.

As to Tracy, watching her laugh when the sex tape came out made me laugh, too. Then they cut to Ned, who was also trying but failing to suppress a laugh. Wally Kurth and Jane Elliot are both treasures to my heart. Every scene they are in sings. When Tracy got right up in Nina’s ear and taunted her about discovering the man she was so close to is sleeping with Nina’s daughter, I was anticipating a slap. But no physical slap was needed because Tracy’s words stung enough.

One thing about this scene that bothered me was Drew talking to all the Quartermaines about their indiscretions. I find it very hard to believe that the family filled Drew in on an affair Ned had with Monica 40 years ago when Drew wasn’t even alive yet. The fact that Drew knows all of the family secrets from the past five decades is improbable. Even if we are still pretending that Drew has Jason’s old memories embedded in his brain, Jason would not have known some of those things because they took place before he was born.

Will Phyllis take Willow, Wiley, and Amelia to hide out in Nixon Falls now that Phyllis has moved back? Will Kristina throw another temper tantrum when she visits her mom and finds Molly sitting on her favorite sofa cushion? Are we about to discover Dex’s new partner, Lauren Jackson, is in cahoots with serial killer Cyrus? Will Cyrus steal all the money from the Salvation Army bucket and flee town? Is Tracy going to blow a fuse when she overhears Sasha telling everyone that her mediocre gingerbread house is the centerpiece of the Quartermaine Christmas decorations? Will Trina become a cheerleader as her crush on Kai continues to grow?

Do all the Llanview references mean Todd Manning and John McBain are on their way back to Port Charles? Will Lulu ask her stepdad Kevin for some counseling after finding out half of her family died while she was in a coma for four years? Is Nikolas going to bust out of prison before Christmas? Will Valentin and Charlotte make it home in time for Lulu to share Christmas with her daughter? Will the sex tape go viral even though Michael swore he wouldn’t share it publicly? Is the Quartermaine chimney be wide enough for Santa to fit all the presents of the 50 people who are living there?

Only tomorrow knows, dear readers, and I will tune in tomorrow as long as there are tomorrows.

Tamilu, I love you, but I feel like you went way too easy on drew and willow. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ
Liz masters, if you can see this, do you have anything to say? You havenโ€™t live tweeted in the past few days so I would love for anything comments about what happened yesterday and today.

    • Tamilu

Youโ€™re right. But I was so mad at Kristina and Molly I got distracted. I should have blasted Drew and Willow. But Liz can beat them up next week for both of us. ๐Ÿ˜

They finally mentioned Phyllis. It was odd, but at least they did it. Didn’t we see Sonny buy and give Charlie’s to Phyllis? So how can he give it to Kristina. I guess we’re supposed to assume she gave it back to Sonny. Kristina acted as if she never worked at Charlie’s when Sonny said he wanted to give it to her.
I fear that we have a bunch of writers that do not want to make the effort to develop stories. They want to go from point A to Point D. Like, let’s have a serial killer and thin out the cast!! It’s not even original, they’ve done it several times.
How exactly is Curtis going to take Aurora from Drew? He doesn’t own any stock. It will be interesting how the writers work that out. Maybe they’ll finally remember Carly’s large bock of Aurora stock.
As soon as Michael took out his phone, we all knew what was going to happen. Why would anone leave their phone out on a table when it is filled with sensitive data?

    • Lurkingintheshadows

Yeah, I thought Kristina managed Charlie’s before Sonny gave it to Phyllis? I guess Kristina’s job at the LBGTQ center is a bust story. Ok because no one cares.

    • Tamilu

Everything is very convoluted and chaotic right now. A lot of things are just out of the blue and the writers disregard GH history. I am hoping the new year brings renewed focus, a steady team of writers that know the show and some exciting storylines we haven’t seen before!

  3. JDF

I was surprised that they killed off Dex, considering how they have pushed the character on the viewers since he came on the scene. As Gilda Radner’s SNL character, Emily Litella , would say.. “Never mind”.

    • Kathie

I knew as soon as the alarm sounded at the nursing station on Thursday Dex was a goner. Surprising but not really because this is not new with GH. Not the first time theyโ€™ve brought on a guy for a specific purpose, hinted there might be a backstory worth delving into but lost interest and killed him off. Dustin, Dev, Brando, Rory, Austin, now Dex. Maybe you can even put Oscar in this category. Gio is probably safer in NYC

To be perfectly honest, while I donโ€™t like to see anyone lose a job, I think GH has been overstaffed for many years now. Itโ€™s led to a lot of characters being sidelined, and storylines moving very slowly because theyโ€™re only featured once a week. Aside from Sam, I donโ€™t really mind anyone else that was written off. Though it would be nice if someone could just leave town instead of being more proof that Port Charles is where young military veterans and/or police officers go to die. I guess Finn should count his blessings he didnโ€™t drink himself to death.

The problem is that GH changes in direction in recent history seem to happen without a good idea of what the new direction is going to be. The most obvious example was killing off Francoโ€”I kind of understand they wanted to do some couple swapping, but then they gave us two duds of relationships (Austin/Maxie and Finn/Liz). It would have been better to have kept Franco and Elizabeth as a back burner couple until they came up with a storyline for them. And really, with all of the cast changes now, itโ€™s hard to see where they are headed with a lot of these characters. Willow, Sasha, Josslyn, Molly, TJโ€”what are they going to do with these people now that their relationships have fallen apart?

Hopefully the show will come out of the new year leaner, more focused, ready to move forward with relationships like Carly/Brennan or Elizabeth/Lucky that have been meandering. Iโ€™m not sure how optimistic I am that is going to happen though.

    • Tamilu

I know! They made such a big deal out of him becoming a cop and going to the Police Academy and Anna pushing him to join, and then just last week he started telling Joss about his family and childhood and it seemed like we might finally find out more about him. But then they killed him! It’s very bizarre.

  4. Tony

I agree the writers seem like they’re flailing right now. Dex had so much backstory that could have been explored and developed, so his death seems like a waste. Yes, Anna is acting against type, and I think Jason and Spinelli need more capers together. Since Chase and Brook Lynn are so happy, I wonder if he will be the next victim, clearing the deck for Dante & Brook Lynn once it’s revealed Gio is their son. I’ve even thought Kevin might be the next victim. Shouldn’t soaps have at least a few happy couples?

    • CeeGee

Agree, this all just continues the trend of almost nothing but depressing stories that we’ve been suffering through for well over a year. Isn’t real life depressing enough? There’s a difference between honestly earned heartache in storylines and the frustrating, disheartening, and chaotic mess they keep serving up with no real moments of joy or romance to be had.

    • Tamilu

I just wrote about this in the end of year columns that Liz and I are working on. Cody and Sasha were happy and they made them cousins. Dante and Sam were happy and they killed her off. Joss and Dee were happy and he died, too. Why all misery all the time? I want some romance and adventure and fun sprinkled in with the heartache.

  5. Dennis

It’s obvious that ABC has been whittling down the GH budget all year. I’d like to see a report on that.

    • Tamilu

Me, too! I think they moved everyone into the Quartermaine house so they only have to build one set instead of 10 apartments. LOL

  6. Humor Me

Dear Tamilu – Merry Christmas indeed! The Grinch decided we cannot have nice things and took Dex permanently from the canvas. And here I was set for a meet the Mom moment and learn that Dex is related to someone we know in Llandview. Speaking of Llandview – there is a Gannon Family there also. Hmmmmm.

Someone needs to hit NIna with a spray of Thorazine mist – I have never witnessed such a manic-panic mode in my life until NIna decided Willow must flee with her children like the goons were coming to take Wiley and Amelia from NIna’s – oops – Willows’s arms. Never mind that Willow wants to stand her ground. NIna knows best! We have all witnessed what happens when NIna knows best and implements her ideas. Thank goodness Carly was at the door. Now – this i Carly being Carly and for once, this IS a good thing. I look forward to Monday’s eppy.

Unpopular opinion – I do not like Nu Lulu. I have nothing against the actress (AH); I am not familiar with her past work. This Lulu is too angry, too pushy, and too driven for my liking, especially coming out of a four year coma – and – having to process what has happened in those years and deal with that. She is not shrieking – yet.

OG Trina would know Football. She would have been at the game. This Trina acts like she has been in an ivory tower for the past years. Oh, wait, that is another Disney Fairy tale. I digress. Trina – get a clue! Employers like well rounded people – not just art nerds.

In closing – Ned and Tracy have made up for the loss of Thanksgiving with the showing of the video. They were perfect in their words, their timing and their reactions. The Gift that keeps on Giving – the Qs.

    • Tamilu

I agree with almost everything you just said! Ned and Tracy were perfect giggling under their breath while the video rolled. I love their relationship.

I do agree that Lulu came out of the gate hot and is very angry, but I am going to give her the benefit of the doubt. Imagine being in a coma for four years and waking up to discover half of your immediate family is hdead and your child is missing. I can imagine the swirl of confusion, panic, grief and rage. I am willing to see how Lulu settles down once the initial shock has worn off. I like that they have her still mad at people she was mad at four years ago and her shock when they shrug and have moved on and have zero interest in battling her. She has to rebuild her life and it will be interesting to watch. (Hopefully.)

Seeing Wyndemere this week reminded me of one of the MANY dropped plot threads over the last year or so.

Remember when the island sold to some mysterious buyer who may or may not have been Ava’s stalker/Austin’s killer?

That’s three just right there and the list could be sooooooo much longer. (Willow’s ‘haunting’ by Harmony, Charlotte’s programming by Victor which was still in place before she got shipped off to boarding school where she apparently magically recovered.)

We need a post or website somewhere that lists all the dropped plot. And I would love it if the writers could chime in with what they had PLANNED to do with the many many many dropped stories.

Was OLTL’s Tomas Delgado really supposed to be Alcazar (the story that ushered Skye, Tea, and Blair off the canvas before Ron got fired)?

Was the gal (whose name escapes me) who had the aborted flirt-mance with Michael years ago and knew Brad from their former marriage/mob family youth meant to be attached to one of the historic mob families (maybe Jennifer Smith was her mom)?

    So many unanswered questions.

    • Tamilu

Maybe Nikolas bought it back. Maybe Ava still owns it. Maybe Uncle Victor is alive and living in the caves under the house. Maybe Valentin and Charlotte have been living in the attic all this time. Hard to say. But you are right, it was totally dropped! Ghost Harmony needs to come back and haunt Willow away from creepy Drew.

  8. Kam

Great to be reading your columns again Tamilu!

I knew somehow that the Drew and Willow video would end up on the big screen when Michael decided to cast the game from his phone. I don’t know why that wasn’t in a password protected folder, but I digress. I really hate the passing blame game that Willow and Drew are doing with everyone. Instead of apologizing to Michael for sleeping with Drew, she focused on the fact that he got the act on film and believed he was probably trying to get back at her by airing it on the TV, even though Tracy was the one who had control of Michael’s phone. Then of course. Drew just commented on the other Quartermaines and their past discretions (I assume that as a Congressman, he decided to look up all the dirt on his family so he could be prepared for what might be thrown at him during his campaign). Then of course, he used his grief over Sam as an excuse for sleeping with Willow (notice how he has an excuse for each of his indiscretions with Willow?) and used the children as an excuse for why they shouldn’t air out his dirty laundry to the world. Drew and Willow deserve each other, but you know they’re not even going to end up together, because Willow was just infatuated with Drew, and he seems to just want to sample everything until he finds what he wants. I’m still waiting for Willow to find out that Drew was sleeping with Nina before and after he even kissed Willow.

I agree that no one should just be able to take Ava’s divorce settlements without a legal proceeding. If the money was taken it was clearly done illegally. I still don’t understand how taking that money would make her broke enough that she can’t pay for dinner. What happened to her income from the gallery? Same for Rick. Why does he not have any income in his accounts other than the check that Ava paid him?

While I did believe that Cyrus would go after Dex for clearly knowing that Cyrus was in the hospital the day Sam died (even if Dex didn’t connect it to Sam’s death), I didn’t expect Dex to actually die. He was a much more fleshed out character than Trina’s old boyfriend Officer Rory, so I hate that he got the same treatment. Also, Trina has lost two boyfriends to death, and now so has Jocelyn. The writers know that they don’t have to kill off someone in order to get another romantic partner for a character, right? Why can’t they let women be happy on the show?

Anna is working my last nerve. Does she not think that Martin will tell Laura how Anna treated him? Does she think that Laura will somehow forgive her because she was doing it to find Charlotte? I really hope it comes out that Anna was the one who let Valentine escape with Charlotte, and I hope Brennan is the one to expose it, without letting on that it was him. It’ll also be interesting when Lulu finds out that Anna shot Charlotte.

    • Tamilu

I am so happy that you found our new soapy home and are still reading my columns! Thank you~! It’s been a weird year, so many changes! I am surprised that Dex died, too – they just started talking about his past and family, I thought that was the beginning of something and two days later he was dead. Also, Molly and Dee were together in scenes a few times and I thought maybe they were testing those two for when Molly and TJ break up. Willow is being so dumb right now, I can’t believe she invited Drew to Nina’s Christmas with her kids.

  9. JDF

I really do not like that half of the cast is living at the Q mansion. Maybe it is easier to have them run into each other, but they were always popping up out of nowhere and running into each other in the unlikliest places, like Pier 55 which has apparently been replaced by the Q boat house. Then there’s the way they just walk into the house and around the house without knocking or asking.

    • Tamilu

My only explanation is that’s it’s a cost saving thing – if they only have to build one set on the lot instead of twenty. I can’t explain any other reason why it would make sense.

  10. I have been wondering why after Cody yelled out at the Brown Dog that Drew has been sleeping with Nina and Ned and Tracy know that why it hasn’t come up.

    • Tamilu

They were going to try and blackmail him but he just blurted it out and confessed so they lost their leverage.

  11. Ryan

Liz Masters and Tamilu, what did you ladies think of Nina and willow trying to take the kids? I thought it was mean and cruel.

    • Kathie

I’m not Liz or Tamilu, but I think it was mostly stupid. Never, never take advice from Nina

Iโ€™m not sure when we start seeing shows that are written with the knowledge they have to start writing Michael out, but we know thatโ€”unless he leaves town with Willowโ€”custody issues are coming. This could be the opening salvo. In a fair custody situation, no one would take the kids from either Michael or Willow because of infidelity. But if Michael feels heโ€™s under threat of her absconding with the children, he may not play fair.

    • Tamilu

It was mean and cruel. Nina has been trying to get those kids since the day she found out Willow was her daughter. I think she’s selfish and could care less what is best for the kids.

      • Ryan

I feel like such an idiot because I really believed that Nina had changed. This just showed me that sheโ€™s still the same nasty witch she was in port Charles.

  12. CeeGee

I hate hate hate that they followed up killing off Sam with killing off Dex! Actually yelled “do not kill him” at the tv when they were trying to revive him.

Such incredibly LAZY and unimaginative writing. If they wanted Dex off the canvas for the time being they could have leveraged the actually interesting backstory the finally started to fill in, which I found very intriguing (along with Joss’ sensitivity in noticing how quiet he got at all the holiday family stories.) They could have easily sent him out of town with a poignant farewell to Joss for some mysterious family matter and preserved the option to bring a very interesting and popular character AND actor back in the future.

They keep the most boring characters around and onscreen and keep getting rid of interesting and dynamic ones…and kill them off to boot which is so depressing for the future. (I am still heartbroken at losing the Franco/Elizabeth romance and how dirty they did Roger with that useless Austin role…another murder they never bothered to solve.)

And couldn’t agree more, Tamilu, at what a waste they are making with Jason and Lucky returning. Can we please have them and/or someone interesting steam up our screens, especially since Joss and Dex can’t anymore?

    • Tamilu

It drives me mad. They keep Molly and Kristina and get rid of Sam. No one wants to see those two women screaming at each other for another year. Sam was a much more layered character with a rich two decade history. Dex had potential, but then again, so did Brando, Nathan, Brit and several other characters they have killed off the past few years. I am glad they got rid of Blaze, but they left Natalia who has zero reasons to stay in Port Charles. I can’t explain it.

  13. Kathie

Minor fact check: Jasonโ€”and therefore Drewโ€”was born around the time I started watching GH which was 1981. Nedโ€™s affair with Monica must have happened in the late 80s. Think about itโ€”Nedโ€™s relationship with Dawn was right after that, and Sharon Case (one of several Dawns) would have been, way, way too young in the early 80s. I donโ€™t remember if the Ned/Monica affair was public knowledge around Port Charles, but, if I remember correctly, it led Alan and Monica to divorce and sent Alan into the arms of Lucy Coe. So probably wasnโ€™t a secret and certainly not within the family. Jason Quartermaine would have certainly known about it though Jason Morgan might not (it is the sort of thing he would not care about at all). I would not consider it surprising that Drew would know about it because the Qโ€™s donโ€™t hesitate to air their dirty laundry within their houseโ€”especially when Tracy is there and itโ€™s not her dirty laundry–and there have been a number of times during Drewโ€™s years in PC where he may have asked how exactly Lucy came by her ELQ voting shares.

Thatโ€™s not to say there are not odd instances on GH where people seem to know things they shouldnโ€™t. Nelle knowing about Carly, AJ and the laundry cart comes to mind. I just donโ€™t think this was one of them. I almost think itโ€™s more surprising Drew knew about Katherine Bell and the bigamy. Which had more limited and short term effects.

Drew keeps bringing up stuff that is known to the Quartermains, like Neds’ affair with Monica and Tracy not
giving her father his pills during his “fake” heart attack. How could he know these things? Even if he still retains Jason’s memories from the memory transfer, that took place after 2012. Jason has no memory of his life prior to the car accident in 1995 and all the things Drew has brought up happened before then. Study your history writers.

100%. Some of the things he remembers happened before he and Jason were born or when they were toddlers. I find it hard to believe that Tracy is sitting around the breakfast table telling Drew the Q secrets from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s etc.

If the funds that were part of the settlement agreement between Ava and Niklaus did not belong to Niklaus, then yes, the settlement agreement can be set aside or “rescinded.” Niklaus can’t give away assets he did not own. I missed that episode, so I don’t know exactly what was said. As for Alexis, let her turn to Diane. Diane just lost her love (Robert Scorpio) so she’s hurting. I can see it happening one day in their law office (not!!!)

Thank you for bringing clarity into the legal issue!

It’a astounding how our newest Lulu is so much like Original Lulu. She’s the same annoying pain in the a$$ that she has always been. It’s like AH is channeling JMB.

She definitely must have watched her old videos. I love that she feels familiar already.

I canโ€™t wait for Liz masters column for this week. Nina, drew, and willow are so disgusting and I know that my girl Liz is going to rip them apart.

They really are gross. The fact that now they are acting like the injured parties because Michael had the video on his phone versus them being at fault for cheating is really laughable. It’s not even like Michale was spying on them or having them followed – it was the Nanny Cam that caught them because they did it in the baby’s room!!!

      • Ryan

Exactly! There are some people who think that Michael deserves this because of what happened with Kiki/morgan and then chase/willow. To me, this situation is totally different and a lot grosser. Michael actually had remorse. Drew and willow donโ€™t.
