These days, the kids of Port Charles — young and old — are paying for the sins of their parents. Will Willow get away with what she’s done? Is Rocco’s quest to learn about Britt going to lead to her return? Will Marco be the key to Sonny’s downfall — or Sidwell’s? Let’s discuss that and much more in this week’s General Hospital commentary for the week ending July 11, 2025.
There certainly isn’t any shortage of soapy drama on General Hospital lately. This week was no exception.
One of my favorite movies is 1992 thriller The Hand That Rocks the Cradle starring Rebecca DeMornay and Annabella Sciorra. It’s a story about a nanny who wreaks havoc on an unsuspecting family. If you haven’t watched it, you should. It’s quite intense. The movie’s tagline was, “Their innocence is her opportunity. Their trust is her weapon. And their destruction is her triumph.” That’s what immediately popped into my head as I watched Willow lift Daisy from her crib and rock her, while justifying using Daisy to gaslight Sasha.
Willow’s cruel intentions
To no oneโs surprise, Iโm sure, Willow was revealed to be the person who’d been sneaking into Daisyโs nursery. Her intention was payback for Sashaโs betrayal. Willow also wanted Michael to know what it felt like to lose a child. As if he didnโt live that nightmare already when Nelle switched Wiley with Jonah. I blame Drew for a lot of Willow’s poor choices, but not for this. This was all Willow’s idea.
It takes a pretty twisted mind to plot something like this. Sasha not only has a history with mental health struggles and addiction, but she also suffered the loss of a child. For Willow to go there with Sasha shows a level of deviousness that I expect from someone like Nina or Nelle, but not Willow. At least not until recently.
Like mother, like daughter
Willow thrives on playing the victim. She blames everyone for her problems except the one person who is actually responsible for the mess she’s in: herself. I don’t understand this shift in Willow. There was a time when she was one of my favorites. She had a tendency to make poor choices like most folks on soaps, but she had a kind heart, and she always fessed up when she was wrong. Those days are gone. Even her infidelity is mitigated by her insistence that she simply fell in love with Drew as if that somehow makes what she did okay.
Nina was the same way when her affair with “Mike” was exposed. I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. What Willow did was criminal. She broke into a home that she was not permitted in, and she messed with a child that she had no business touching. Sadly, even if Michael learns the truth, he probably wouldn’t press charges for the sake of the kids.
Unlike Willow, Michael puts the children first.
Sasha leaves town with Daisy
Sasha has decided it would be best to leave town with Daisy. Michael took her concerns seriously, so he asked Jason to help Sasha disappear. Is this just a temporary exit for maternity leave or has Sofia Mattsson wrapped up her run on General Hospital? I don’t know, but I do know that Sasha needs to return sooner not later. I adore Sofia and I had hoped that she and Michael would join forces to expose Willow. However, that is not to be — at least for now.
I don’t want Daisy to grow up without her father in her life. Willow doesn’t deserve to have that triumph.
A son’s regret
I like Marco, and I love that Lucas is finally with someone that Bobbie and Tony would love and approve of. But, sheesh the writing for him since he learned that Natalia died is ridiculous. He cares more about her in death than he did when she was alive. It’s like he suddenly has amnesia about her wicked ways, which included a history of heavy drinking. A point he made on several recent occasions. Given her lushy ways, he should be the last person who is shocked to learn that she accidently overdosed.
General Hospital viewers watched as Natalia popped her prescription pills like Tic Tacs, while knocking back huge gulps of scotch. Marco even told Lucas about Natalia’s propensity to drunk text him gibberish. I understand that Marco has regrets and feels that there were things left unsaid, but he sounds like an idiot accusing Sonny — a man he doesn’t even know — of murdering his mother. There isn’t a shred of evidence to point to that, which he should recognize since he’s an actual lawyer.
Two rotten peas in a pod
The audacity of Marco lecturing Laura about her friendship with Sonny. His father held Laura’s son and others prisoner, while threatening to kill each of them as part of a twisted game of Poker. It took the WSB dropping a bomb on Sidwell’s compound to save the day. I realize that Marco loves his father, but if he doesn’t see that his father is no better than the man that he believes Sonny to be then it’s a choice. The evidence that Sidwell is up to his neck in illegal activity is everywhere.
As for Natalia, she was a hateful creature and destructive. Marco deserved better. So did Blaze.
ShrewLu versus BLQ: Round 999
Our General Hospital writers should take heed. The reason that Natalia didnโt work out wasnโt because of Eva LaRue. It was their introduction of Natalia. She was an awful person who never had any real character growth. She remained the same spiteful, bigoted, loser right up until the very end. Alexa Havins is having a similar issue with Lulu.
Lulu didnโt go looking for information about Gio until she discovered — quite by accident — that BLQ had given birth to Dante’s son. Luluโs loyalty was to Dante, but instead of going to Dante with what she found and letting him take it from there, Lulu inserted herself in a situation that didnโt concern her. She dug and dug, and when she got all the answers she was looking for, she tried to bully everyone into fessing up. Again, she should have just gone straight to Dante.
This version of Lulu reminds me of the ShrewLu that I loathed back when Julie Marie Berman played Lulu. Except back then, it was understandable because Lulu had been young and passionate about things, and she didnโt have the experience and wisdom that she would gain in the years that Emme Rylan portrayed her. This reset to her early days doesn’t work with a 30-something woman.
BLQ is no better
Lois and Gloria are the ones who betrayed, manipulated and lied to Brook Lynn and Gio. They created this situation for their own selfish reasons. Dante was right, Brook Lynn needs to stop blaming Lulu for Gio’s rejection. Lulu never intended for Gio to overhear that conversation with Lois. It’s not like she confronted Lois in the ballroom.
Gio feels rejected and unwanted because Brook Lynn gave him up for adoption. She won’t be able to help him understand that what she did was an act of love if she’s more focused Lulu than Gio. Digging into Roccoโs past to teach Lulu a lesson was wrong. I’m glad that Brook Lynn recognized that it’s the worst thing she has done. Rocco didnโt deserve that. At. All. As Dante pointed out, Brook Lynn left that file on the table in a house full of people including Rocco. Everything played out exactly as she had planned.
Both Lulu and Brook Lynn need to grow up. Itโs not fun watching grown women behave like schoolyard bullies.
The truth about Britt is complicated
Now, letโs talk about Britt Westbourne. Her name is on everyone’s lips, so Iโm guessing that Kelly Thiebaud will be returning to General Hospital as Liesl’s Liebling Britt. I grew to love Britt, but it took time and a lot of self-reflection on the error of her ways from Britt. In Britt’s early days, she was a deeply troubled and villainous person. She did terrible things and hurt a lot of people. Her youngest victim was Rocco.
The embryo-napping
It hurts to hear Rocco express any kind of empathy for Britt. I vividly recall how horrified I was by what Britt had done. She stole one of the precious few embryos that Lulu and Dante were able to create, had her mother implant it in her and she tried to pass the baby off as Patrickโs child. Patrick and Britt briefly dated, but he ultimately fell for someone else. Britt was jealous and tried to use the pregnancy to drive a wedge between Patrick and Sabrina’s budding romance. She also hoped to trap Patrick in a relationship that he clearly didnโt want.
Rocco was nothing more than a pawn.
Enter Brad, then Nikolas
Eventually, Britt was forced to admit that Patrick was not the father of the unborn baby. Brad briefly stepped into the role of baby daddy then Nikolas took over. When Britt gave birth, she fell in love with Rocco whom she named Ben. But he was never hers to keep.
For those who didn’t watch back then, Britt was living at Wyndemere when she gave birth, and she soon became romantically involved with Nikolas.
Both Dante and Lulu absolutely wanted a baby and were completely shattered when they were told that their embryo was gone. Britt saw their suffering, but she selfishly kept their only child (at the time Lulu had no idea that Charlotte existed) and would have kept her secret if Liz hadnโt become suspicious.
Redemption is always possible on General Hospital
When the truth came out, it was bad for Britt. But it was also the best thing to happen to her because it allowed her character to grow. She owned up to her crimes and she paid a price. For a time, she found happiness and contentment with Nikolas and Spencer. Things got rocky again, and she made mistakes, but she continued to learn from them, and thatโs how I grew to love Britt. She was a character that desired to do better. She didn’t always succeed, but neither did she pretend to be perfect. (๐ at you, Willow)
Kai confesses and gets his walking papers
Kai’s decision to tell Drew the truth was not noble. It was an act of betrayal because he did it without so much as giving Trina a head’s up. Worse, he kept his secret for a few days. Time and again, Kai says one thing and does another. He believes that he knows better than Trina, not just with the surgery, but also when it comes to Drew. He was wrong about the surgery and heโs wrong about Drew.
I just canโt root for this relationship. I want better for Trina. She deserves to be with someone who has her back and keeps his promises. Thatโs just not Kai. Heโs a nice enough guy, but heโs not the guy for Trina.
I typed all of that on Thursday. You can imagine how delighted I was on Friday when Trina pretty much made the same points to Kai following his confession about tipping Drew off. Brava Trina. She was magnificent as she stood up for herself and her family.
Boys and girls, take note. Never settle for less.
General Hospitalโs Chief of Lies
I was incredibly disappointed that Curtis gave in to Drewโs demands, but I blame Portia for that. Sheโs the one who put Curtis in that position. I just wish Curtis could have found a way to outmaneuver Drew. Seeing Drew gain the upper hand is so frustrating because the man is slime. I want him taken down and hopefully ushered off my screen.
Portia needs to go too. Her attitude toward Jordan is loaded with projection. Portia is the liar, the schemer, the opportunist. Sheโs the one who put her marriage in jeopardy. And she will continue to do so because Iโm certain that sheโs going to end up in bed with Isaiah. She keeps finding herself in his orbit when sheโs troubled, so itโs only a matter of time before it leads to more.
I hope I’m wrong. But this is a soap. Run, Isaiah, run! Liz is single and ready to mingle.
Love roulette
I enjoy Ric. He’s a dark gray character who gets under Sonny and Jason’s skin like no other. Too bad the writers are wasting him on Kristina’s silly plot. I still don’t understand how breaking up Ric and Ava is going to stop either from squeezing Alexis for everything they can get. If you ask me, the smart move would be to point out that Ric and Ava are now equally criminally complicit in fraud. If Alexis and Kristina go down, so do Ric and Ava. That, my friends, puts them all at an impasse.
How is Alexis not able to use that to her advantage?
I want a great love for Liz, but Ric isnโt it. Heโs had plenty of chances to make things work with her, but heโs always found a way to ruin things. Worse, Liz ends up with a broken heart. To be honest, heโs much better suited for Ava. Plus, Rick and Maura have real chemistry, so I have no idea why the writers are messing with a good thing. They did the same thing with Cody and Sasha, and again with Jordan and Isaiah.
General Hospital’s trio of doom: Sidwell, Drew and Boyle
Battlelines have been drawn. Right now, it looks like Sidwell, Drew and Boyle will be going up against pretty much everyone in Port Charles. Iโm firmly in Sonny and Jasonโs camp. I hope they take those three out in one fell swoop. Unfortunately, I don’t think the General Hospital writers are onboard with that plan.
Will Boyle be the first to fall? He’s an annoying gnat who seems to be universally disliked by everyone including his cohorts in crime. The scene at General Hospital when Boyle showed up with the reporters to try and get Marco to accuse Sonny of murder was cringey. It’s hard to take Boyle seriously at times because the writing for him is so completely over the top.
Despite everyone’s concern about Marco’s safety, I think he will be the key to Sidwell’s downfall, not Sonny’s.
General Hospital Quick Takes
Are we really expected to believe that Martin — a lawyer — doesn’t know that he needs to be careful about what he says because Stella committed a crime getting his hospital stay covered? Why are they dumbing down Martin?
Has anyone else noticed that Vaughn seems to have aged 20 years since meeting Josslyn? No? Just me?
Why bring Charlotte home only to hide her in the attic? It’s weird that all this stuff is going on in her home and she’s nowhere to be seen.
Will the writers ever address the passings of Leslie Charleson and Denise Alexander by giving their characters a proper goodbye? They should have a place on memorial wall at General Hospital.

Natalia’s exit
“This Natalia story line is pure nonsense. First of all, she has no way of knowing where Sonnyโs money came from as she has never worked for Sonny. If she could trace the money that easily one would think that the authorities could as well. Where did she get the idea that Sonny was going away with her? There was never a romantic angle explored in their relationship. Most crazy of all, is the idea that Natalia is facing 5 years of prison time for a second offense DWI. ADA Turner can threaten all she wants, but no judge in this country would send Natalia to prison for being pulled over on a DWI. Natalia was not involved in an accident. There wasnโt any property damage, nor was anyone injured. At most, she would lose her driver’s license.” — JDF
“In regard to the supposed information on Nataliaโs computer about Sonny, I donโt understand why Sonny hasnโt just asked Spinelli to deal with it. It sounds pretty simple to change which account Sonnyโs contribution came from. And if itโs on Nataliaโs computer, it must be on Deceptionโs computers too, and Sonnyโs. Where is Spinelli when we need him?” — Ruthie
Josslyn blames Sonny for Morgan’s death

I agree with you Liz about Lulu. She is very much like JMB’s Lulu. I have never liked Lulu since her original SORASING , but back then she at least had a sense of humor. This version of Lulu is overflowing with that arrogant “I’m a Spencer” attitude.
I wonder if Rocco knows how his sister Charlotte was concieved? I wonder if Charlotte knows, where ever she is right now. Disappeared like TJ.

I thought Marco was supposed to be smart. But, he jumps to the conclusion that Sonny had Natalia killed and then he listens to his father, who he knows is a criminal and capable of anything. Just a little investigation would establish that Sonny was setting her up for a new life in Belize. Marco knows that Natalia was spiraling from her text messages and those messages were from her, not someone else because he said that she had done this before. Maybe he thinks Sonny killed her because it is something that he knows Sidwell would do.

Can the writers stop pretending that grown men, big men, are swimming laps in the MC wading pool? Even Wiley has to squat down to make the poll seem deep.
————-
Is there a reason Michael can’t install more cameras on the estate or assign a full time guard to Daisy?
—————
Joss as a WSB agent just isn’t working. I laugh when Brennan addresses her as Agent Jacks. Her partner Vaughn is just as transparent. It was obvious that when he excused himself to the men’s room , he was calling Joss. I loved Anna’s reply when he said that there was a line at the mens’ room. ” In the men’s room?” Has anyone ever seen a line in the men’s room.. anywhere?
Charlotte must remember Claudette. Iโm not sure what specifics she was told, but she certainly knows there was something atypical about her early years. Rocco should also know since heโs old enough to remember having no sister one day then Charlotte show up all of a sudden
There are so many GH kids, a lot go MIA. When was the last time we saw Leo? I think Scarlet Fernandez (Charlotte) may live in another state. When the role was recast some years back, that was why. But that is no longer an impediment to being on the show. The actor who plays Danny lives in Illinois & Rick Hearst lives in NJ, for example. I think I read something about SF having an accident a while back as well
No nanny cam is a big problem with the Daisy stalker storyline. Poor security and a lack of security cameras is a chronic problem on GH. Recurs on a regular basis. But we KNOW Michael knows how to set up a nanny cam.
When Anna walked into the Brown Dog, I thought Wow, FH is more attractive than ever.
I mean this in the most respectful way, but how much longer to do we have deal with this Willow and Drew mess? When this affair first started, I wasn’t as grossed out as people were because I thought it was going to be soap goodness. Both mother and daughter going after the same guy and one of which, husband happens to be his nephew. I didn’t know where this story was going to lead but I surely didn’t predict this, nor did I anticipate them turning Drew into a full blown sleazeball. I’m so over them and watching the ways they continue to add side plots/storylines related to this truly awful pairing. One of the worst things about this is so many people know different bits and pieces about how awful Drew is. It would be amazing if everyone could go in one room and air everything out and stage an intervention for Willow. But given were Willow is, I’m not sure she would believe them. As a side note, I know Ric leaves a lot to be desired in the moral compass area but why hasn’t he told Willow what Drew did to Wiley? Willow was his client, not Drew.
I used to love Willow. I really really did. She used to have to equal parts sweet and caring combined with this unrelenting fierceness. All I can think when I look at Willow now, is the Willow who willingly went to jail to prevent Shiloh from finding about his son, would punch Willow 2.0 in the face. I’m also unsure what we are supposed to feel about Willow. I truly thought Willow was/is mentally unstable and they were going to lean into all that when the truth came about who Drew is. But Willow messing with Daisy proved she isn’t unstable. She is purposely doing this out of spite. And her reasons for doing it made no sense because Michael isn’t keeping your kids away from you, you are doing that to yourself, and Sasha didn’t betray you. They have not really been true friends after Sasha and Chase pretended to sleep together.
Lulu has been nothing short of annoying since she came out of her coma. But the absolute worse part of her waking up is that it has regressed so much of the character development Dante had. Dante had lost so much of his self righteousness, and Lulu just being in his orbit has brought it all back. And I too agree they are writing Lulu a lot like when she was played by JMB, and it just does not work anymore.
You put your finger on one of the most annoying things of all about the Lulu character with your super excellent point about how they have dragged Dante backward in his worst self-righteous past behavior! I’ll add to that how excruciating I find it that they have Gio practically worshipping her.
We are not supposed to like Willow. One thing the show has been pretty good at recently is knowing where the audience is–at least based on my reading of where the audience is based on the internet. Characters everyone complains about, the show repeats those same criticisms. Plus, you can guarantee that if someone messes with a baby, the audience will not like it. Question is if this is something Willow can come back from or if she’s going to go full on Nelle.
Lulu and Brooklyn are in more of gray area as to whether we are supposed to like them or not. I think like the characters, dislike their actions. I liked JMB version Lulu. Even when she was a brat, that was somewhat mitigated by a vulnerability underneath. When Lulu showed up as a teenager, she was being raised by her grandmother because her mother was staring at the wall in a mental institution and her father was a flake. So if Lulu was needy and desperate to be loved, well, I got that. We could use a little bit more heart from Lulu right now.
Here’s my take on Lulu: I think she woke up from her coma with a lot of anger. Justifiable because she lost four years of her life, four years of her kids lives, four years where Dante moved on, four years where Valentin did not do a very good job with Charlotte. Cyrus is not around to absorb that anger; she can’t be too angry with Valentin because Charlotte loves him. And Lulu knows that if she complains too much about what she lost, she will sound ungrateful because she is alive and Sam is not. So she’s honed in on Brooklyn as someone to place all that fury on. (Based on that sourpuss attitude when Jason said nice things about Britt, Britt may be next). It is otherwise totally irrational to spend so much negative energy on someone who’s main sin was going after your boyfriend for 10 minutes 15 years ago. Carly paid Brooklyn to do that, so is Lulu still mad at her? No, she is not. I thought it was very telling that, after the first conversation about Britt, Dante stayed home with Rocco in case he needed him, but Lulu couldn’t get out of the house fast enough to go yell at Brooklyn. Shows where her priorities are.
Anyway, what I don’t like about Lulu right now is that NO ONE thinks she handled the situation with Gio well, and it just doesn’t sink in with her. At least Brooklyn regrets what she did and is paying a price for her actions–some of them unfairly because it is really childish for Gio to be angry at her for giving him up for adoption. I understand his life has been shaken up, but he is old enough to understand adoption is something a person does for the benefit of the child. By that same token, Rocco should be able to understand that if your parents created embryos via IVF, they wanted you.
After a week or two a while back where GH had me totally engaged and enthralled with what seemed like the long-awaited juicy fallout and comeuppance for so many richly-deserving characters and storylines. At last it seemed like there would be at least SOME relief for us from writing so many smart characters to be beyond stoopid and characters they have stripped of anything that would ever make you root for them finally get what’s coming.
But no, they have backed off all of it and we’re back to just constant and repetitive sniping, hypocritical, and just plain boring episodes. Drew, Willow, Portia, Nina, Lulu…just ugh, like a mosquito in your ear.
The one huge standout for me this week was how magnificent Trina was in her fiery rejection of Kai and his betrayal and the stellar performance by Tabyana as she delivered those lines, especially the one about her loyalty to family. Brava!
As usual, you are right on target. I hate that Michael may never see daisy again.
I don’t know where this Sasha leaving town thing is headed, but I can’t imagine it is going to be long term–if it even happens at all. Most extreme scenario plays out that Sofia Mattson is leaving the show, the role has to be recast. I mean she’s lovely, but if they can recast Michael, they can recast Sasha. From the time Sasha and Michael broke up until she found out Robert was her father, you could have removed Sasha from the canvas and it would have affected no one. Now that the show disrupted her relationship with Cody to tie her to the Scorpios and gave her a child with one of the most connected characters in town, you cannot remove her. If you do, what was the point of recasting Michael? You could have just begged Chad Duell to come back for a limited run to wrap things up and leave town with Sasha. No Sasha, there’s not much for Michael to do except argue with Willow and Drew. You cannot put Michael and Willow back together. Just no. If Willow tried to say she loved him again, she would have zero credibility.
Hey Kids! What Time Is It?
Time for my Random Thoughts which I hope DON’T get sent to The Cornfield.
Boy, the Anti-Emma sure didn’t waste any time swooping in on Agents Barbie and Ken.
She Took the Bait Pronto on that one.
And here I though she wanted to seduce The Dastardly Professor Dalton.
And Gio.
Why, Emma, you Little Vixen!!
~~~~
So, who made off with Daisy?
Why, Weeping Willow of course.
So, Mikey had the Nanny Cam removed?
Duh.
When did he do that? When he was in Germany?
Now Olivia, who was absent along with Ned for the Christening, is accusing Sasha of being “Hormonal”.
But Mikey was with Sasha when she looked in the Bassinet the first time.
And the one Downstairs was Empty until it Wasn’t.
And why wasn’t ShrewLu slugging BLQ as Satisfying as it was when BLQ slugged ShrewLu?
Not that she didn’t deserve it.
Maybe it’ll knock some sense into her.
ShrewLu is NEVER Wrong!!
Like Weeping Willow, everything is Everyone Else’s Fault!!
Brooky is an Idiot.
She really didn’t think twice about leaving her “Private Business Papers” lying about in a house full of Children and Teenagers.
Actually, I’d trust them more than the adults, but that’s besides the point.
Still, ShrewLu, as Always went Above and Beyond with her Self-Righteous Vengeance Tantrum.
CM must have been off Hosting Game Shows last week.
It was so refreshing not having him on screen.
I love the way Brillo came FLYING out of work in her Swimsuit to run to the MCPool cuz her EwDrew was there.
Blecch.
At the Risk of Repeating Myself, I’m gonna Repeat Myself.
Again.
You know what I could do with less of?
Ew Drew and his Wildly Flapping Giant Hands and his Beady Bug Eyes.
It’s really creepy and annoying.
He’s got these Tiny Little Round Rat Eyes and then he BUGS them out while Wildly Gesturing with his Giant Thin Fingered Hands.
He really is like one of those Used Car Lot Blow Up Wavy Men.
And don’t even get me started on that Steve Bannon Doppelganger, Ezra Boyle.
He’s another one who belongs in Jail.
So, Mikey, Sasha and Jason all have NO Suspicion that it could be Willow who’s been messing with Giant Preemie Daisy?
And why didn’t Mikey reinstall the Nanny Cam?
I’ve got Dog Cameras that Spit Treats, A Bird Feeder Camera that also shows most of my yard, Two Blink Cameras, one in the Driveway, and one in the Back Yard.
Oh, and my Nest Porch Camera.
And We’re Poor Slobs!!
Where are the Q’s Security cameras??
Stupid Is As Stupid Does.
But I do like NuMikey.
I’m not Crying Real Tears with NuMikey, You Are.
Speaking of Stupid, those Idiots with the TV Cameras are violating every HIPPA Law in the Book.
Lucas should throw them out, call Useless Hospital Security to throw them out on their Tuchuses.
(Tuchii?)
Then again, NO ONE at GH ever follows Hospital Code of Conduct.
They can’t even figure out how to use Stethoscopes!!
Again, don’t get me started.
At least Marco had the sense to Rip that Wolverine Ezra (and his TV Reporter Posse) a New One.
~~~
Gio finally called Sonny Grandpa.
So what does Grandpa Sonny say?
“Stay OUT of it, Kid!!”
Nice.
Does Gio end up being the Next Jason?
He’d better keep playing that Fiddle!!
~~~~
I do hope Rocco convinces Frau Blรผcher to return to PC.
We Need Liesel!!
So Kai has his Head inserted so far up EwDrew’s Dirt Chute, he can’t see the Forest for the Trees, eh?
Make Me Want To Vomit, Dear.
Trina needs to Dump Kai.
For Good.
She’ll be doing us ALL a Favor, because that Couple is a Snooze Fest.
I’m dozing off just typing this.
Well, I don’t know about Y’All, but I’m looking forward to Mami Dearest’s Funeral.
Will Blasรฉ show up?
Will she sing at her Mami Dearest’s Funeral?
Will NutKrissy seek out Blasรฉ?
Does anyone care?
Liz, as always your commentary was spot on.
Dear Liz – I love to read your columns and your take on our soapy travails in Port Charles.
I must disagree about Willow – I see a mentally ill young woman who evolved over the course of a few months into a pod person/ cult follower of the Faux Savior known as Drew Caine. Her mother, NIna is the perpetual victim, not Willow. Oh Willow plays at victimhood becasue that is the only way that Drew can hold onto her as he cost her a marriage, and her children. By coloring everything with “We” – she cannot blame him, after all – “we” fell in love. Well, she fell into lust, via unresolved issues left over from the cult. And Mommie Dearest has not helped her Daughter at all. The Willow that I am now seeing is a woman who is barely functioning as normal, because her entire reason for living – children – has been removed from her. This goes all the way back to unresolived issues from the loss of her first child. This goes back to the transferance of all those feelings onto Wiley. This goes back to learning she is PG at the same time she gets a Cancer Diagnosis and “no one is going to tell me what to do.” This goes back to Shiloh paying for her teachers’ degree, to having NIna a part of her losing that career to going into nursing (why) to becoming a the mom in residence. And now all that is taken away. Who IS Willow? She cannot function without Drew. She has come full circle to a cult figure/ savior and when she starts to quesiton it – idiot Chase tells her she is not there. Thanks Chase! Some dectective you are.
Willow needs help – she needs truth – about Drew, about NIna, about the evil Judge – and about what happened in Germany and what her children really want.
Lulu started this train going down the track not BLQ. I saw the BLQ twist a way to soften the awfulness of what Lulu did. Lulu made her Nurses Ball reveal so that anyone in the vicinity could hear it. She refused to take responsibility for the longest blaming BLQ. BLQ did a horrible thing and left the file where anyone could find it. But unlike Lulu BLQ took immediate responsibilities and expressed deep regret.
You know what? I never thought of that softening angle. Yup. Good point!
Brooklyn was so much worse to me than Lulu. Lulu never threatened to tell Gio. She always wanted Brooklyn to tell the truth. She went to Brooklyn first. She didn’t even tell Dante – she wanted Brooklyn to do it. Lulu actually kept her secret. The easy way out would have been for Lulu to tell Dante. But Brooklyn begged her not to. Sure, it bugged Lulu and she saw the signs that maybe just maybe Lois was lying and Gio was Dante’s son. And Lulu was right. But still, Lulu didn’t go to Gio. She didn’t even go to Dante. She went to Lois. And tried to get them to tell the truth. Was it Lulu’s business? You can argue it wasn’t, but she found out the secret by accident (and I will never blame her for trying to find her missing daughter – anyone would have don that) and it affected the man she loved, the father of her child and her son. And Lulu apologized to Gio who was hurt. She apologized to Dante. She apologized for the way the information came out but not that it came out.
Brooklyn didn’t find out anything by accident. She went after information for revenge. Her plan was for Rocco to find out. And that’s what happened. Sure she quickly says she is sorry – ONCE Gio and Dante got mad, but not before that. She sure wasn’t sorry when she was talking with Lulu.
I also disagree about Portia. This is the second time that Portia and Curtis have had problems and Jordan has been Curtis’ confidant. The first time he ended up kissing and almost sleeping with Jordan. If Jordan was still mad about Portia being Curtis’ confidant when her marriage to Curtis was falling apart, she did the exact same thing to Portia then. This second time is definitely a pattern. I don’t blame Portia for that.
As far as Drew and the blackmail – Drew could have just as easily gotten blackmail material from Selina on Curtis as he did on Portia. Remember, they both have done illegal things. Portia at least told Curtis about the illegal thing sh did and she was doing out of a need to protect her daughter. Why did Curtis start the illegal poker games? I can’t remember. The advantage of all of these blackmail schemes (including the Alexis/Kristina one) is that the people being blackmailed are scared of going to jail.
I agree that lulu is a lot like JMB’s Lulu, however, I like that about her. I just feel like they have given her a lousy storyline to work with right now. I like that she has more fire and personality than Emme Rylan’s version. She never worked for me as Lulu. I just wish they gave Lulu something to do other than argue with Brook Lynn. That’s gotten really old. I do completely agree there.
I completely agree on everything else in your column though and, as usual, enjoyed reading it. I hate Willow and Drew (as individuals and together), and not in the fun soap villain love to hate kind of way. I want to believe that the writers have some plan with all this. It better be good if we have all been forced to watch the two of them!
