The truth is out, and Willow was left reeling. Will she go through with her wedding to Drew or leave him at the altar? Marco made a fateful decision, but will he live long enough to regret it? Will Lucas? It was a week filled with bombshells, blackmail, and broken hearts. Letโs discuss all the soapy goodness in an all-new General Hospital commentary for the week ending July 25, 2025.
Wow! General Hospital was deliciously soapy this week. Thereโs so much to discuss between all the bombshells, blackmail and broken hearts. Letโs kick things off at the church where Drew and Willow prepared to exchange wedding vows. In attendance were a handful of guests who’d been cajoled into witnessing the disaster.
Something old, something new, something explosive
The secret is out. Curtis dropped his little bombshell that Drew and Nina had been bumping uglies, while Drew was courting Willow. He quickly skedaddled before Willowโs head had a chance to explode. I don’t blame Curtis for not wanting to stick around for the fallout. His work was done.
Willow took the news as one would expect. Badly.
Katelyn MacMullen was absolutely incredible as Willowโs illusions about her hero and their perfect love were finally shattered into a million little pieces. We saw the instant Willow’s world collapsed. It was a beautiful sight to behold because it was so long overdue. I canโt stand Willow, but Katelyn was a powerhouse during Friday’s episode when Willow confronted Nina. It’s a shame that Willow has become such a detestable character. Had she been even a smidgen likeable, I might have felt sorry for her.
Instead, I took great delight in watching Willowโs misery as she realized Drew had been lying to her since the very first moment their lips locked. Iโve waited ages for this moment to happen, so I relished every blessed second of Willow’s pain. She’s no victim. Willow did horrible things in the name of love, and she crossed boundaries that no decent person would have.
Willow accused Michael of amoral behavior, but she was the one who had an affair and who weaponized a medical proxy when Michael was fighting for his life. She is the one who chose her lover over her children time and again and used a newborn to punish the parents.
Wedding day blues
I have nothing but mad respect and accolades for Katelyn and the writers. The scenes at the church were magnificent. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. If Willowโs confrontation with Nina is any indication, Willowโs showdown with Drew will be epic. Drew is a dead man walking.
While I do agree that Nina could have — and should have — done the right thing a year ago by telling Willow that Drew is a lying cad, I donโt blame Nina for Willow losing custody of her kids. Willow is an adult, and she made her own choices. I firmly believe the judge would have ruled in Michaelโs favor even if Sidwell hadnโt bribed her. Michael didnโt have to make Willow look selfish and unfit because Willow did a spectacular job that all by herself. Everything the judge said to Willow when she handed down her verdict was spot on.
The groom of doom
I canโt wait to see what happens on Monday. I fully expect Willow to go scorched earth on Drew when the priest asks if anyone knows of any reason why Willow and Drew should not marry. If Willow’s relationship with Nina was built on lies, so was Willow’s affair with Drew. Drew has done nothing but lie and makes empty promises. Soon, he will be at the center of a blackmail scandal. No way would it help Willow’s custody case to hitch her wagon to Drew now.
That brings me to Drewโs idiotic scheme to alter Michaelโs drug tests to make Michael look like an opioid addict. That might have worked back in 1970s, but this is 2025. Even if Portia changed the results in the hospitalโs system, she canโt erase the memories of both Michaelโs doctors and the medical staff who have been monitoring Michaelโs pain medication. These days, itโs not as simple as changing test results. There are protocols if someone is abusing opioids, and these things would be documented in the patient’s chart.
Additionally, Michael would have known that the test results had been tampered with. He would have used his considerable resources โ including Monicaโs position at General Hospital โ to prove it. Portia would never have been able to get away with it. Not for long.
Nina’s baby chick comes home to roost
Well folks, Nina can pat herself on the back. She enabled Willow into becoming this rotten shell of the woman Willow once was. Willow might not be homicidal like her infamous twin, but she’s just as diabolical as Nelle. Even the morally corrupt Drew was a little horrified when he realized that Willow had used Daisy to torment Michael. A bit surprising given that Drew had filled Wiley and Amelia’s heads with lies about their father, but Willow was supposed to be above that.
Nina isnโt responsible for Willowโs poor choices, but she didn’t do Willow any favors by failing to nip Willow’s crush on Drew in the bud with an uncomfortable truth. I will never understand her silence because at the time, Nina hadn’t done anything wrong. Drew had. Back then, Willow had still been a sane and a decent person. Willow was right. Nina has terrible motherly instincts. She put her own self-interests first not her daughter.
“You could have saved me from all that heartbreak. All you had to do was tell me the truth,” Willow tearfully reminded Nina. It doesn’t matter that Nina had finally decided to be honest. As Willow pointed out, the damage had already been done.
Dr. O is back and ready to rumble
Drew had better gird his loins because Willow wonโt be the only one gunning for him. Liesl has her sights set on him as well. She saw the gleam in Willowโs eye when Willow learned that Sasha had left town with Daisy. Liesl instantly recognized that something was very wrong with Willow and tracked it straight to Drew. No one messes with Dr. O’s family.
Liesl is far more dangerous than a woman scorned. She’s not burdened by tender feelings. If I were Drew, I’d sleep with both eyes open and a wooden stake within reach. Maybe some holy water too.
Meanwhile, Liesl keeps herself entertained by tormenting Lulu. Good for her.
Mutter remembers Britta
I donโt blame Lulu for not being a fan of Brittโs. Iโd feel the same way in Luluโs shoes. What Britt did to Lulu and Dante was awful. She stole their baby and passed him off as her own for months. However, this isnโt about Britt. Not really. Itโs about Rocco. He has questions and he deserves to know that he wasnโt carried by someone who was evil to the core.
Lulu needs to accept that people cared about Britt including her bestie, Maxie. Instead of demanding that everyone respect her view of Britt, Lulu should take the time to talk to others and listen. Rocco is seeking assurance that he was loved and wanted by everyone involved in his existence not just Dante and Lulu.
You were always on my mind
Jason is one of the people who saw the good in Britt. The question is, did he really see Britt at the airport in Paris or was the woman a long-lost twin or doppelganger?
I believe the woman was Britt and that Liesl is fully aware that her daughter is alive and jetting around Europe. Britt would not have been able to pull off faking her death without her motherโs help. Is the top-secret project that Professor Creep is working on the reason that Britt appears healthy and symptom-free of Huntingtonโs Disease? I’d bet money on it. It’s no coincidence that Britt ended up in the very same city as the courier who had retrieved Dalton’s bag.
Will Dante let Jason know about Josslyn’s new career path with the WSB? I fully expect Jason to get pulled into this spy drama soon, which will ultimately set him on the path to finding Britt. I look forward to it.
Suddenly, Josslyn’s spy games have piqued my interest.
General Hospitalโs resident evil
Sidwell is a small man with an even smaller mind. He can throw a punch, but he canโt take one. He also has no moral code whatsoever. He’s positively giddy that Marcus has joined the fray.
Sidwell brought this all on himself by planting that firebomb in Sonny’s penthouse and later setting Kristinaโs bar ablaze. I have no doubt that he was behind the explosion in Sonny’s penthouse. Both times, Sidwell made a point of gazing at the Port Charles skyline moments before the night sky was ablaze with his handywork. If something happens to Marcus, it will be on Sidwell. He has been lying to his son from the start.
I hope Lucas likes crow because he’s going to be eating quite a bit of it when this is all over.
Marco! Polo!
I dearly love Lucas, but man, oh, man was he annoying this week.
Lucas should have known better than to think that Sonny would actually hurt Marco. The injuries that Marco sustained were from his attempt to escape. Sonny wanted to send Sidwell a message since Sidwell had crossed the line by nearly getting two of Sonny’s children killed. How can Lucas be so indifferent to the innocent lives that Sidwell has endangered in his attempt to usurp power from Sonny?
I don’t blame Lucas for being worried or making every effort to get Marco home in one piece, but I think he went too far, especially after he rescued Marco. Sonny didn’t start this war. Sidwell did. Sonny is easily the lesser of two evils. Would Lucas be okay with Sidwell seizing control of the piers and shipping illegal arms? Has he forgotten what Sidwell did to Lucky and Isaiah?
I wish Anna would pull Lucas a side and tell him about her experience as Sidwell’s prisoner. Lucas can hate Sonny all he wants, but Sonny and Jason aren’t the problem. Sidwell is.
The right stuff
Portia wants to come clean, but Curtis is standing in her way and delaying the inevitable. Curtisโ plan is to break up Drew and Willow in the hopes that it will take away Drewโs incentive to blackmail Portia. No Willow, no need to falsify Michaelโs drug tests. At least, thatโs what Curtis theorizes. Heโs wrong of course. As long as Drew has Portia in his vice grips, he can control Aurora Media’s press coverage.
The smart thing would have been for Curtis and Portia to go to Michael, so that Michael could take steps to catch Drew in the act of blackmail and tampering with Michael’s medical records. Michael could have used the evidence to both his and Portiaโs advantage by threatening to take it to the police if Drew didnโt back down and leave both Michael and Portia alone.
That said, I would rather Portia just come clean. It’s time.
These boots are made for walking
Kai is heartbroken because Trina dumped him for blabbing to Drew. Heโs desperate to get Trina back, but sheโs standing firm even though she still cares about Kai. Trina wouldnโt be Trina if she didnโt care, but I think she deserves better than a guy who has consistently put himself first.
Kai broke Trinaโs trust because he thinks he knows Drew better than Trina does. It doesn’t matter that Trina has known Drew for years and seen Drew go from an honorable man to someone who seduced his nephewโs wife and betrayed her father. Trina has had a front row seat to Drewโs metamorphosis. Did Kai trust that? No. Kai only sees Drew through the lens of gratitude. He ignores that Drew doesn’t have any close friends, that Drew’s family has disowned him and that he associates with the likes of Sidwell and Boyle. Kai believes that he knows Drew better than Trina does.
Let Kai go down with Drew. Trina is a beautiful soul. She should be with someone who respects her opinion rather than dismisses it.
General Hospital Quick Takes
Now that Britt is back, Brad must return even if itโs just for a visit. I beg of you Mr. Valentini, please make it happen. New viewers need to see their onscreen magic. (For you, Vanessa! ๐)
Speaking of returns, will Scotty soon make his way back to Port Charles? Many of us speculated that he left town to help Liesl. Now, that Liesl is back, Scott should return. Maybe he and Martin can start a practice together.
I loved seeing Susan Batten (Flora Gardens) on General Hospital. Those who watched One Life to Live will recognize her as Luna Moody. Dare we hope she gets to share a scene or two with Erika Slezak?
Do they let kids throw axes? Seems like a recipe for disaster. Good thing, James has good aim.
In Portiaโs shoes, one of my last acts as Co-Chief of Staff would have been to fire Willow. That soulless shrew has no business tending to patients, and she certainly doesnโt deserve to get any kind of visitation with Wiley and Amelia as long as Willow remains on this path of destruction.
What General Hospital viewers are saying
We love reading what other fans have to say about the show, so please scroll down to the Comments section and share your thoughts. It’s at the bottom of this (and every) column.
Viewers have a lot to say about Lulu and Willow
“Lulu has been nothing short of annoying since she came out of her coma. But the absolute worse part of her waking up is that it has regressed so much of the character development Dante had. Dante had lost so much of his self-righteousness, and Lulu just being in his orbit has brought it all back.” — Brittany
“I must disagree about Willow โ I see a mentally ill young woman who evolved over the course of a few months into a pod person/ cult follower of the Faux Savior known as Drew Cain. Her mother, Nina is the perpetual victim, not Willow. Oh, Willow plays at victimhood because that is the only way that Drew can hold onto her as he cost her a marriage, and her children. By coloring everything with โWeโ โ she cannot blame him, after all โ โweโ fell in love. Well, she fell into lust, via unresolved issues left over from the cult” — Humor Me
Portia’s decision to come clean

Liz, you are so right about Lucas. Has he forgotten who is father was? Has he forgotten who is aunt is and all the things that she has done? Marco’s father is the bigger threat to his well being, not Sonny.
It’s frustrating as heck and I’m writing about it in my newest column. That conversation with Felicia! ๐ค๐ค
The look on Drew’s face when he realized that Willlow was the one targeting Daisy was priceless. He had the revelation that he’s marrying a nut job.
Willow would not beleive any of the negative things that everyone was saying about Drew but she immediately believed Curtis when he told her about Drew and Nina. Odd, I thought that she wouldn’t beleive that either but she didn’t even question what Curtis said. I think Willow is going to go full bore whack job at the wedding.
Do the current writers know that Sonny had no connection what so ever to Morgan’s death? All the characters know, but even they keep blaming Sonny. What’s next? Is Ava going to blame Sonny for Morgan’s death?
I guess Marco isn’t so sqeaky clean after all or he is oblivious to what kind of person his father really is. When someone can be that cold to their mother when she is obviously in distress is a red flag. I wonder why he even bothered to represent Natalia in her DWI case. If he was a more compassionate son, maybe his mother would still be alive.
If I never see another Hearth & Home segment again it will be too soon. Can we just ditch anything “Deception?” It’s so cartoonish, like kids running a lemonade stand.
Surprised nobody is brought with the fact that Morgan has been mentioned so much lately that I believe he’s the one behind sidwell and everything that is going on with Sonny. That Morgan survived the explosion blame Sonny for whatever has happened to him all these years and now he wants to make him pay.
How AWFUL of someone (Marcus) to try to escape being kidnapped! (And, really, how was he to know Sonny wouldn’t hurt him? Sonny has hurt plenty of people.) C’mon now. Don’t make excuses for Sonny’s actions. Retaliation or not, what he did was wrong.
At least he didn’t put Marco in a freezer and hang him from a hook!
Wonderful column! I am in the minority of those who believe Nina bears some part of the responsibility of Willow losing her children. First with the kiss, she gave poor advise. Keep quiet? The truth will out, Nina. It always does and you have not learned that lesson. Second, when the nanny cam video aired with the truth spilled, Nina was determined to separate Michael from Willow and his children. Willow did not want this – she wanted to talk it out. Nina – interfered and look at the result.
Yes, Willow bears final responsibility, but her decision making was based on sins of omission and lies. That is on Nina and Drew.
Willow fell through the cracks of the mental health system as someone who left a cult and was never offered deprogramming., and to properly grieve the life and death oh her own son.
Willow is now in a world of hurt and needs help!
I hope she thrown Drew (and Nina) to the curb. What I think will happen is she will marry him to destroy him. How? Who knows? She is deluded enough as it is.
Liesl is the gift that breathes fresh air into the show. Yes, I know she did despicable things. She changed for me. And her grasp of everything is realistic. I look forward to make she does next – especially with Rocco. The show is good( with one long drawn out exception) .
This Week, on Tool Time!!
The Tools of Port Charles.
Omg Monday’s Episode was a SnoozeFest once again.
Droopy Dawg and Carly’s “Date” was a Total Waste of Screen Time.
BLQ and Her Ma on “Home and HeartBurn” was slightly interesting, but LooseLips Constantly Flapping Hands are such a distraction.
What is it with the Wildly Flapping Hands on this show?
Then there’s Agents Barbie and Ken.
I have no idea what they were saying to each other because I was fascinated by the fact that they have the EXACT same Hair Color, highlights and all.
None of the Dialog entered my Brain.
I’m sure I didn’t miss much.
Oh, right, Joss was Whining about Her Mom dating Droopy Dawg NotBrennan.
She’s got a Point, there, not that anyone cares.
I did enjoy the Britt/Stone Cold Flashbacks.
Again, well, as of Tuesday, ShrewLu *still* hasn’t graced the Opening Credits.
Neither has the Anti-Emma or OutBack the Beagle.
I’m still rooting for the Doggo.
Tracy: “And Lois and her Track Suit can move Back into The Mansion!”
Ha.
Did anyone else notice how Tense ADA Turner’s Jawline was as she declared, “The PCPD needs to treat this as a Potential Abduction. Starting Now!”
Watch she and Sonny end up Bumping Uglies at some point.
Even he thinks so, but then again Sonny’s a Narcissist.
Yuck.
So Ada Turner (We might as well call her Ada, because I can’t recall her actual name), the actress, anyway, is married to Snidely Whiplash Sidwell IRL.
He must be doing something right, cuz she’s Stunning.
You know what they say, a Lid for Every Pot.
~~~~
So, do TPTB really want ShrewLu to be the Most Hated Character on GH?
If so, they’re doing a pretty good job.
Liesl was Charming and Gracious, and ShrewLu and Dante are a couple of Insufferable Tools.
Who’s ShrewLu to demand that Frau Blรผcher leave the MCPool?
Screw You, ShrewLu!!
I don’t know who deserves a SlapFest more, ShrewLu, EwDrew, or Brillo!!
And just WHY did Marco Polo make up that ridiculous story?
Did Daddio tell him to?
I doubt it, since Lucas is the one who rescued him.
And why am I looking for things to Make Sense?
Silly Me.
Speaking of things Not Making Sense.
Willow’s Wedding Day Hair.
What did she style it with, an Egg Beater?
A Blow Torch?
If they want Willow to look Truly Demented, they’re doing a Pretty Good Job at that as well.
I can see Dr. O’s encounter with Dante and ShrewLu at the MCPool put her in a Mood.
If Britta is Indeed Alive, don’t we think Frau Blรผcher would have had something to do with that?
So if that’s the case, why is she so mad at Liz?
Not that she doesn’t have Good Reason.
Back to Tool Time.
Kai.
Nuff Said.
I hope Trina sticks to her Guns and remains Kai-Less.
And Curtis.
Porthole finally decides to Do The Right Thing, and he’s trying to talk her out of it.
And Where Is Terry???
~~~
I must say I’m glad someone (Curtis) FINALLY told Weeping Willow (who STILL cannot manage to Shed an Actual Tear) the Truth about Ninny and EwDrew.
I’m actually shocked that she believed it.
~~~
Friday’s Episode was Fun when I wasn’t dozing off.
The Ninny/Brillo/EwDrew Debacle was Predictable yet Refreshing.
Everyone was raving about “What A Great Job Maxi Did” from Manhattan….
Well, that’s nice, but why were there Only Five People at Congressman EwDrew’s Wedding???
Jeez.
Even though KM couldn’t manage even a Tiny Little Tear during her Pre-Wedding Fight with Ninny, she sure had that Stepford Wife Look down pat.
That look on Willow’s face she stepped into the Chapel Was Psychotic Perfection.
I think the fact that they got as many as 5 guests at Drew and Willow’s wedding was quite the accomplishment. I mean, really, only Scout and Kai would want to be there. It was nice of Liz to be a supportive colleague. But no one else wanted the wedding to take place. Even Willow didn’t want to be there by the end of Friday’s episode.
Were Annabelle and Foster in the opening credits years and years ago? Whether that’s yes or no, there’s no harm in adding dog now.
I find Obrecht wildly entertaining. But I do not think her leaning heavy on the dead daughter baggage and knowing Britt is alive are mutually exclusive. Obrecht is a practiced liar after all. She does not like holier than thou Elizabeth. So taking little miss perfect down a peg by reminding her of her moral failings would be satisfying for Obrecht whether Britt is dead or alive. Let’s also remember that, because of actions that unintentionally lead to Nathan’s death, Obrecht held Peter tied up in a cabin and later tried to set him on fire. For her vengeance for Britt’s death to be limited to sniping at Elizabeth and completely ignoring the fact that Heather is living free in Arizona…well, that makes a lot more sense if she knows Britt is alive. I would have more of a problem with her trying to claim kinship with someone whose daughter is actually dead (Alexis) if Obrecht’s is in fact not. That seems a little cruel. But it might just be Obrecht trying to be empathetic. And she does know what it’s like to have a child die.
If the show is bringing Britt back from the dead–and it feels like this is direction they are heading–it makes the most sense for that resurrection to have been driven by Obrecht. She is a doctor, after all, with a lot of ties to nefarious powerful people who could have assisted her. And that sort of debt might explain why Britt would have gotten involved in something of interest to the WSB. Which seems to be the case.
Nazneen Contractor and Carlos Rotta are married? Holy cow!
*Quickly Googles*
They’ve been married 15 years and have two children together? My mind is blown.
Liz, I loved everything you said, but I would like to add that I would have more sympathy for Nina if she had shown some compassion towards Michael through all of this. I believe that deep down, part of the reason she didnโt stop all of this was because she knew this situation was hurting Carly and Michael.
That’s probably true. Nina has a vindictive streak. I have zero sympathy for Nina. She brought this all on herself and she’s reaping what she sowed. Why would Willow have been mad at Nina if Nina had been honest from the start? That never made sense to me. Drew was the one playing them. Nina didn’t seduce Drew away from Willow.
I can’t stand Drew, he is all about himself. But if I were him, slowly realizing how demented Willow is, I’d be running for the hills instead of saying “I do”.
I agree with ‘Humor Me.’ Nina is INDIRECTLY responsible for all that has happened. It’s not just that Nina neglected to tell her daughter she’d been sleeping with Drew for months when Willow first told her about ‘the kiss.’ It’s also that she advised Willow NOT to tell Michael. It’s never a good idea to lie to your husband and Nina knows that firsthand! Can you say ‘SEC?’ But, then again, Nina NEVER learns from her mistakes. When Willow and Drew’s romp on the nursery room floor was literally exposed for everyone to see, Nina immediately used it to get Willow to leave Michael and take the kids. The very NEXT DAY, Nina hired Martin WITHOUT consulting Willow. She had Martin file separation papers that must have included allowing Willow to have temporary custody and then have them served to Michael, completely blindsiding him. Is that even legal? Nina wasn’t thinking of what was best for Willow OR her grandchildren. She was only thinking of what was best for HER. Nina was DELIGHTED that Willow’s marriage to Michael was falling apart, and she finally had Willow and her grandchildren all to HERSELF. Selfish to her core. It didnโt matter to her if Wiley and Amelia were miserable without their father. I guess she thought theyโd get over it! Nina wasn’t going to share them or Willow with anyone and that included Drew. When he wouldn’t go away, then she started plotting to break them up. By then, it was too little, too late. For those reasons, Nina does own some of the blame for Willow’s heartbreak. But Willow ultimately made her own choices, influenced as they were by Nina AND Drew, and THAT is why she lost custody of her children. Willow is just too mentally ill right now to admit that.
I disagree about Lucas. It doesn’t matter that Sidwell is the bigger threat and started it with Sonny. Is Lucas just supposed to say, ‘Since Sidwell set fire to Charlie’s and almost killed Kristina, Sonny is justified in holding Sidwell’s son hostage, regardless if Marco saved Kristina’s life and just lost his mother. Sonny won’t kill him, just use him as leverage.’? Um, no! Lucas is not justifying or downplaying Sidwell’s actions. He has the right to be upset with Sonny for kidnapping his boyfriend Marco and to report it to the police. If someone was holding one of Carly’s loved ones hostage for leverage, like her kids or Lucas himself, she would be just as upset. She would go to Jason, Brennan, or Sonny for help instead of the police, but she would still be upset with the kidnapper, even after the fact, just like Lucas. Therefore, she should check herself and stop coming at Lucas the way she has been. I would say the same thing about Sonny, but that man is as hypocritical as it gets and only sees his own point of view, so there would be no point.
I agree that the GH is compelling right now. I’m really looking forward to what’s going to happen on Monday. In the old days, such an abomination of a marriage between Drew and Willow never would have been allowed to finish, and she would have dumped him at the altar. Nowdays, I’m not so sure. I think Willow is so set on the idea marrying Drew is the way to get her kids back, she’ll see it as too late to back out now. Plus, as she said, she’s alienated herself from everyone else to the point he’s all she has. So I think it’s equally possible she’ll go through with the nuptials, then afterwards, it’s game on. There are a number of things we know: The status quo cannot continue with Drew, and when a character is this hated, he’s usually going to die. Willow is very unstable. And blood stains look very dramatic on a white wedding dress. Just sayin.
While the scenes between Willow and Nina were great viewing, I hate the fact that Willow is going to have more people to blame for the predicament she’s in rather than taking responsibility herself. Her logic is so much like Nelle’s right now. Everything is someone else’s fault, she is treated so unfairly, any tactic is fair game because no one else is playing fair. The scenes with Portia and Willow were 75% disturbing and 25% unintentionally funny. Portia couldn’t believe Willow’s response. When she was like, let’s go over this again because she wasn’t sure Willow understood, that was priceless. Willow understood fine the first time. I agree that Portia’s last act as chief of staff (if it comes to that) should be to fire Willow. Given her actions when Michael was hospitalized and the fact that she thinks it’s OK to tamper with medical records to win a custody case, it’s pretty clear she’s not an ethical nurse. Not to mention the moving babies around in the nursery which Portia doesn’t know about.
