General Hospital Commentary: That girl is poison

Valentin’s attempt to kill Jack with poised Champagne backfired when Carly drank it. Will Carly heed the advice she’s been given, or will Jack prove to be an irresistible lure? As Drew ramps up his war with Tracy, Willow decides to move in with him. Will she soon regret her choices or fall further under his spell? There’s lots to discuss in this week’s General Hospital commentary for the week ending March 21, 2025.

Dear readers, would you feel safe drinking, eating, or breathing anything in Port Charles? I wouldn’t. You can be with the head of the WSB and still get poisoned. If you aren’t safe with the James Bond of Port Charles, where can you be safe?

CHRIS MCKENNA, LAURA WRIGHT
(Disney/Christine Bartolucci)

Carly was having such a lovely day of romance, steamy sex, and showers up until she guzzled down that glass of bubbly laced with poison.

The takeaway from this storyline is that Jack Brennan genuinely cares for Carly. All along, I was suspicious, but his bedside confession when he feared she might be dying sounded like a man who is genuinely smitten with the lovely Ms. Spencer. However, Jack is about to encounter a roadblock named Jason on his path to Carly because Carly was poisoned on Jack’s watch — and Jason isn’t happy that his best friend is in danger because of Brennan. Newly armed with dirt from Valentin about the danger that Brennan poses, Jason has ordered Carly to back away from Jack. But has Carly ever responded well to an ultimatum?

Everyone is concerned about Carly’s connection to Jack. At General Hospital, Felicia had a heart-to-heart with Carly in her BFF Bobbie’s memory, as did Carly’s brother Lucas. There was a genuinely touching scene between Sonny and Carly when he confessed, “I started thinking, ‘What would the kids do without you?’ And then I thought, ‘What would I do without you?'”

It made me tear up! Did the thought of losing Carly reawaken Sonny’s feelings for his ex? If so, Sonny will be on Jack Brennan’s back, too.

This week was full of complicated entanglements, and I loved the delicious soapiness of it all. Carly has three powerful and dangerous men who all want her safe but continually put her in danger by the nature of what they do for a living. And to add to the chaos, enter Valentin.

Readers, if you have read my General Hospital columns for any length of time, you will know that Valentin is my soap crush, and I make no apologies. He is a flawed man for certain, but there is something about him that Anna Devane and I just can’t resist. But this time, it appears Anna is resisting his charm. At least, enough to keep from releasing him from custody, but she did save his life.

JAMES PATRICK STUART
(Disney/Christine Bartolucci)

Will Valentin spend the rest of his days behind bars, or is there some reprieve coming? He may be working undercover. Maybe Drew Q (I’m increasingly convinced he is Shiloh!) will get him pardoned for funding some shady political deal? What do we think Valentin is going to ask Alexis to do?

I hope James Patrick Stuart is back for the long haul, and if he is, he can’t remain in custody forever. I’m hopeful that Charlotte will get her Papa back into her life instead of through a glass window at Pentonville. The scenes that Valentin had with Laura and later with Lulu were especially poignant. Both Laura and Lulu were mourning the man they knew Valentin could have been. They acknowledged his love for Charlotte and the good man he was on his way to becoming. But they were also sad about the inevitability of his downfall.

However, Lulu doesn’t care much about Brook Lynn’s downfall; in fact, Lulu is the person who put the wheels in motion. Lulu snooped into Martin’s files, discovered Brook Lynn’s secret, and marched across town to confront her. General Hospital always has one character who feels justified in exposing everyone’s secrets. It used to be Robin, and now it’s Lulu.

Every person on earth has secrets. There are things in our past that we don’t announce, things we regret, and choices we make that cause us guilt or shame. Why? Because we are human and imperfect, and we sometimes make bad decisions in times of trial. But what gives Lulu the right to tell Brook Lynn’s secrets?

I have to hand it to Brook Lynn. Rather than do the thing that most soap characters do and fold under the pressure of blackmail; she immediately went to Chase and confessed everything, which made me giddy. Amanda Setton is absolutely knocking this storyline out of the park, and I hope the Daytime Emmys take notice of her superb acting on General Hospital and the range of emotions she is showing us. She deserves to take home a shiny trophy. I have been wowed by her performances. Josh Swickard, too, has been a revelation as Chase.

When Chase went to Lulu and told her to back off his wife, I cheered him on. Chase is what we all dream of in a partner. Brook Lynn told Chase this big secret she had been keeping from him; he understood her reasons, accepted her apology, and went into protection mode. Is he going to struggle with this secret? Yes. Is he going to blurt it out and tell Dante? Probably, yes. But he is standing shoulder to shoulder with Brook Lynn in her angst and supporting her needs. It’s a beautiful relationship.

What happens when Gio is revealed as Dante and Brook Lynn’s son? Much more tears and fights and drama to come, no doubt. I hope Lois’ stay in Bensonhurst is short-lived because I really like her being in Port Charles.

My dear readers, did you ever think we would see the day when Ava had to drink tap beer? I’m unsure where this “Ava is broke” storyline is leading. I suspect it would make her prone to marry a wealthy guy like Ric Lansing or the even more decadent devil, Jenz Sidwell.

I can see either of those two things happening. Either would infuriate Sonny and upset the delicate truce that he and Ava have formed over Avery’s custody. I may be in the minority, but I liked it when Ava and Sonny got along. Right up until she decided to help with the switching of his medsโ€ฆ

In a last-ditch effort to solve her own problem, Ava went to Alexis to ask for a loan from the Cassadine estate, which she was denied. Kristina took the chance to rant about Ava killing her baby, and I am so, so tired of that angle. We all know Ava did NOT push Kristina. Kristina tripped over Jagger’s duffel bag, and Carly’s hotel has shoddy windows that magically fall out into the pool if you bump into them. None of that is Ava’s fault.

Kristina may need to see Kevin Collins to be diagnosed with whatever mental illness she is suffering from. I saw a hilarious t-shirt that said, “Undiagnosed, but clearly something is wrong here.” Hahaha.

How do you think this will unfold? Will Ava have to sell her gallery, or will she marry for money? Will she go to Nikolas or Valentin in prison and beg them to get her divorce settlement back?

And seriously, why does no one ever visit Nikolas in prison? We saw Heather in prison, Cyrus in prison, Spencer in prison, etc. Why hasn’t Lucky or Lulu gone to see their brother since they have been back? I want to see all of Laura’s kids back home; can’t we spring Nikolas yet? It honestly doesn’t make sense to me that he’s in prison in the first place. He’s a prince, and he should have diplomatic immunity. All he did was keep Esme locked in his mansion when he assumed she was a serial killer; that’s not so horrible, right?

But I digress.

Back to the here and now. The person I really want to see locked up is Shiloh (I mean Drew.) No, I have no confirmation that Drew is Shiloh, but he gets more horrible by the day, and I can’t wrap my head around the fact that the character Billy Miller played, and this version of Drew, are supposed to be the same guy. The guy who loved Carly so much that he went to prison for her, came out and now despises her. The Drew who sat in prison for years carving Scout’s name into the wall, now cares more about Wiley, Amelia, and Willow? He can’t be Drew.

What do you think Nina just found in the safe? Next week’s previews illustrate the problem. Nina apparently goes to Willow with what she found, and Willow says, “NO matter what you tell me I am not going to believe you.” I’ll take ‘things a cult member would say for $500, Alex.

I don’t care who Drew is; I just want him gone. At least this version of him. Trying to make Tracy dig up her dead parents is a thing I can never forgive him for. And the fact that Willow is standing by him while he does all these horrible things makes me think less of her. I wish Nina would just tell Willow that Nina was banging Drew and end it all.

But Faux-Drew would deny it, Willow would believe him, and we’d probably be right back where we started.

I wonder how long it takes someone to heal from burns. I am ready for Michael to come back and take his kids from her. Portia keeps looking at Drew’s medical file, and it makes me think she may be the one to bring him down.

Readers, what do you think about this pairing the writers keep trying to test, Cody and Molly. I just don’t see it. I like both of the characters, but do they fit? Molly has been an intellectual brainiac since her childhood, and I doubt Cody has ever finished a book. What would they talk about? Sure, I can see her having a fling with him, but an actual adult relationship?

I dated a football player in college. He was very cute, but when I tried talking with him, there was zero behind his eyes. I was an English major, and I tried talking to him about literature and poetry, but none of that registered. He was great fun at a party, and he could do the “Jungle Love” dance by Morris Day and the Time, but he was not much of a conversationalist.

Do you remember in Gilmore Girls (my favorite show!) when Lane asked Rory to hook her up with Dean’s friend Todd, and he was SO dumb? Lane asked about his favorite movie, and he said, “Beethoven.” The one with the St. Bernard. At that moment, Lane realized they were not soulmates. LOL.

These are two examples of what I see in Molly and Cody’s future. He’s very nice, supremely loyal, and solid, but how long could Molly’s brain be satisfied talking to him? I don’t know. Maybe I am being too mean. Maybe he’s smarter than I know. Thoughts?

With Kai and Trina, Kai may be a jock, but he seems to be smart and curious, too. He’s willing to explore new things, expand his horizons — I have much more hope in this pairing.

I was happy to see some scenes of Trina grieving Spencer. As soon as she opened that book, her eyes got sad. That was so realistic. Grief jumps out at you unexpectedly and levels you sometimes. I love that Kai invited Trina to tell him about Spencer and open up that part of her wounded heart.

Another scene that melted my heart this week was the talk between Sonny and Laura, finally repairing their decades-old friendship. I hated that week on General Hospital when everyone turned on Sonny instead of realizing that something was wrong with him and trying to help. Ugh! But now, Laura and Sonny are back to being friends, which is as it should be.

Luke and Sonny were brothers back in the day, and Lucky and Lulu have had Sonny in their lives since childhood. That reunion needed to happen. Genie Francis and Maurice Benard were magic together in those scenes. Their real-life familiarity after decades of working together shone through. They are so comfortable together.

Speaking of being comfortable together, is anyone as adorable as Liz and Lucky right now? I am a sucker for LL2, and I have been rooting for this reunion for ages. The fact that we are now on the brink of it makes me gleeful. Jonathan Jackson and Rebecca Herbst have the same magic they did in their teens. I only hope no more obstacles are thrown in their path. Haven’t they both been through enough?

I am ready for a happy ending for the two of them.

Will Willow and the kids move in with Drew just as he gets arrested for being Shiloh impersonating Drew? What if the real Drew shows up alive and well, and he tells Willow that he would never, ever sleep with his nephew’s wife? Will Portia be the one to end Drew’s reign of terror by finding out this imposter is the wrong blood type to be Drew Q? Will the new city councilman who has it in for Laura meet her pal Sonny and decide to leave her alone? After Martin Gray squares things with his ex, will he drop Drew as a client? Will Ava return to the mob life to keep her in martini money? Will Carly listen to everyone who loves her warning her off Jack, or was he so good in bed that she’d be willing to drink more poison Champagne to be with him?

Only tomorrow knows, dear readers, and I will tune in tomorrow as long as there are tomorrows.

    When is someone going to walk into Drew’s house and say “this is the freaking Dawn of Day house”!

    Did anyone notice that Chase offered the perfect solution for the crypt problem? The Qs can just offer a
    simple exchange of property from the Q estate for that 20 feet of land that the family crypt sits on.

    Ava has always had plenty of money before she married Nikolas. How can she be broke? She sold Charlie’s to Sonny and there were all those years in the Jerome crime family.

    • Kam

      I think they tried to explain Ava’s being broke issue when she told Nina how she had gotten accustomed to the Cassadine fortune and lifestyle, and developed excessive spending habits.

    • Kathie

      The show has made some attempts to justify Avaโ€™s empty bank account by blaming it on her spending a load of money on an additional building to expand her gallery. That part maybe makes some sense if you can ignore how nonsensical it is for the Cassadine money to apparently be taken out of her accounts. As for Avaโ€™s wealth before she married Nikolas, Iโ€™m not sure. I thought she was doing OK since she had enough to live (and dress) well; but when she came on the show, she was extorting money from the Quartermaines. So maybe not that rich.

      Iโ€™m with Tamilu in wondering where this is going. Hopefully it will lead somewhere. Because I donโ€™t find the Ava is broke storyline very compelling in itself. Yes, itโ€™s a little funny to watch her downsize and have to keep asking Alexis for money. But with her history, Ava is a person who should be waking up every day just grateful to be alive and not in prison. That she canโ€™t drink as many high priced martinis as she likes isnโ€™t going to break my heart. Itโ€™s also a bit tone deaf considering very real financial concerns many people have nowdays.

    What is the WSB anyway? What country are they affiliated with and from where do they get authority? The U.S. already has the FBI and CIA so how does the WSB fit in? Then there’s the Port Charles WSB office. If you are a spy organization I don’t think you advertise. The CIA has offices in other countries but they don’t put up a sign that says “CIA”. It’s disguised as something else. Anna is always mentioning the WSB academy and how she, Brennan and Valentin all came up through the academy together. Does it look like Joss is at an “academy”? Where are the other “recruits”?

    • Kathie

      Good questions. The WSB should be independent from the CIA and FBI because those are US agencies. The WSB is not, hence the W and the number of operatives from England, Australia and Greece as well as the US. I donโ€™t think it has a real world counterpart. It was introduced on the show during the waning years of Eastern European/Russian communism, so I think its nemesis agency the DVX was supposed to stand for the KGB. Maybe the WSB is more like the fictional communist fighting agencies in shows like Get Smart and the Man from Uncle. Neither of which I watched except in reruns (before my time) so my familiarity with the specifics is limited.

      Anyway, the benefits of a made up agency is you can make up all the parts. As clearly has happened over the years with the WSB

      • JDF

        The WSB angle was interesting when Robert Scorpio first appeared but now it’s on comic book level. How many times have we seen Carly barge into Brennan’s office? If you went to a local FBI office you would never get passed the lobby.

    Tamilu, I would be open to Valentin returning if he becomes a better person and apologizes for the crappy things heโ€™s done. My biggest beef with Valentin is him taking elq because he blamed Michael for Nina dumping him. Michael did NOTHING wrong. The fact that Valentin never apologized for that and chose to do the right thing and voluntarily gave elq back has always been a major roadblock for me when it comes to Valentin.

      I have to disagree about Lulu being being in the wrong in regards to Brooke Lynn and her baby. She has found out (by accident no less) that the man she loves has been lied to for most of his life. She owes Brooke Lynn nothing and yet she agreed to keep silent. That’s not what Robin did. I personally hate the Brook Lynne had a secret child storyline because she is a freaking Quartermaine and has the support of the entire Cirello. This entire “I wanted to give my baby a better life” thing is ridiculous. In the hypocrisy for being mad or mother freak inviting in her grandmother is also annoying. She’s been lying to her father her entire family and the father of her baby since she was 16. It defies logic. And then on top of all that lowest brings Gio the Q’s. Has never been a deceptive character. Of course I get it this is for good soap drama and it’s going be explosive. But Lulu is not in the wrong here. If Brook Lynn can come clean with Chase she can do the same with Dante. Instead Dante is going feel betrayed by everyone he cares about. Maybe he’ll quit being a cop and take over Sonny’s business since Jason doesn’t want it !!

  4. Evaine

    Well, I enjoy Molly and Cody together. Maybe not as a ‘forever’ couple, but for a while anyway. He makes her roll her eyes in that fondly exasperated way I appreciate.

    I do agree with you about Ava and Sonny though. I liked them getting along before the drug tampering.

    I wish I could be as excited as a lot of people are about Lucky and LIz, but you know, he just seems so immature next to her, IMO. Now, I wasn’t watching in their teenage days so that probably colours my opinion, but they just don’t fit for me.

    And you know as well as I do that Carly’s back is gonna go up and she’s going to continue with Brennan no matter what Jason, Lucas, Felicia and Sonny say. I still believe, however, that the ultimate end game is Carly and Sonny – at some point way down the line.

    As for Drew and Willow. I just hate the whole thing. Period.

    Another fun column, Tamilu!

    • Nell

      I completely agree with you about Lucky. He seems very immature to me, as well. I just don’t see what others see; for me, he doesn’t work as a true partner for Elizabeth. I do think they have cute scenes together but I don’t see any heat there.

      • Marlena

        I agree with you on this one. Remember how the scenes were with Elizabeth and Franco. OMG!! Can we go back to that. I hate that they got rid of Franco.

    • CeeGee

      I’m enjoying the opposites attract aspect of the Cody and Molly scenes together and could see that work if they would just stop writing Cody as soooo stoopid, lol. About the time they decided to cousin Cody and Sasha (a move that seems weirder than ever to do if they were going to turn around and send most of their newfound family off-canvas) they also decided to make Cody cartoonishly dumb. While I think of it Sasha too! But they could definitely reverse that in a short amount of time.

    Oh wow……Bell Biv Devoe. It’s driven’ me outta my mind….Miss her, Kiss her, love her.. that girl is…..Poison.
    Thank you for that blast from the past.

    I felt sorry for Carly as she really does not see the danger (Jack was the target, not me!). Well gee whiz, after all those years with Sonny (and Jason) her attitude makes one (like Lucas) want to smack her up the side up the head and go “Hello!”…..
    Jack has his own Secret that will bust them up – Double -O-Joss on the case! Carly will be furious…

    Speaking of wanting to slap some sense into someone, Willow is in for a hard awakening. Yes, we all are wandering just what Nina found in the safe.

    And speaking of smarmy, who is the new councilman in town? I had to chuckle – Drew has a diversionary in the form of local politico. He promises to make life interesting for the upright stalwart good citizen leaders of PC.

    and Valentin – for me, he has come full circle. He is just as evil as when we first met him on the Island. I want him put away and NIcholas to return with a new brain that is Cassadine and Webber Worthy. Not this namby-pamby joke that was an embarresment to the Cassadine name.

    And with Nicholas’ return, I want Ava’s fortune restored. This….has gotten silly.

    Greetings Fellow Earthlings!
    What the heck was Val thinking when he delivered the Bottle O Vintage Poison Champagne to Droopy Dawg’s room?
    Val looked surprised when he heard Carly’s voice.
    Why?
    He saw Carly when he tried to kill Original Recipe Brennan in Germany, didn’t he?
    I mean, I know she clocked him upside the head, but he had to have known it was her.
    And who else would be drinking champagne in Droopy Dawg’s room?
    NotBrennan is growing on me, but he’s still Not Brennan.
    I enjoyed watching him be all Official at GH, especially after his WSB Goons showed up.
    “If anyone gets past you and you’re Not Dead, I’ll kill you myself!”
    He needs to keep his shirt on.
    I see enough Old Dad Bod in my Kitchen!!!

    Polonium?
    Sounds like something Dr. Smith would conjure up on Lost In Space

    Speaking of What the Hell Was Val Thinking…
    Leaving Passports by the Fireplace??
    I take it he didn’t realize Sonny bought his house.
    Boy for Someone Who’s Trying Not To Get Themselves Killed, Val sure is making some Lousy Choices.
    ~~~
    Meanwhile, in “Nancy Drew Goes To Spy School”…
    As if I don’t nod off enough while watching “My Programs” (as my Mom used to say), this whole BS WSB Story with Joss and Not NotJagger II the Sequel is putting me to sleep.
    Two Blondes in a Cement Room.
    ZZZzzzZZzzz….
    Speaking of Boring Blondes.
    NuLulu has some Freaking Nerve asking that Rocco move in with her and Charlotte.
    It’s not even her house to invite Rocco to move in, and how much room do Kevin and Laura actually have in that apartment??
    There’s Kevin, Laura, Ace, Lucky, Lulu, and now Rocco?
    He gonna sleep on the couch?
    Maybe they can all move in with Maxi, in what *used* to be Lulu’s House.
    Omg. Carly goes into “Cardiac Arrest” and what does Gannon do???
    He takes his Stethoscope OFF!! And sets it aside.
    Arrrggghhh….
    Listen, Kids.
    A Stethoscope is used to listen for Certain Sounds in the Human Body.
    Such as Lung Function or a HEARTBEAT!!!!
    It is NOT a Decorative Accessory!!
    Maybe for Gannon it is.
    ~~~
    Chase is like THE Perfect Guy.
    Doesn’t Exist, but boy, when Chase isn’t Arresting Family Members, he is the Most Understanding Man on the Planet.
    I do hope someone tells BLQ that Gio is her son.
    This is getting Tedious.

    This Dude Marco that took Lucas back to his room after he vomited on him and cleaned him up looks like he could be a ReCastadine.
    ::Fascinating::

    Oh no.
    Don’t tell me Droopy Dawg has become Weepy Dawg NotBrennan!!
    Sniveling over Carly.
    Right.
    And then Carly opens her eyes and looks at him like, “Who the Hell are You?”
    Not Charles Masure, that’s Fer Sure.
    ~~~
    Mayor Laura was Surprisingly Cordial to Val as he was trying to jimmy her lock.
    Her little speech to Val was nice, for a change, admitting that she, too was a Fugitive a Time or Two or Three.
    That’s all on Val.
    The whole scene with Cooty being arrested for stealing his own car was Boring and a Total Waste of Time.
    I did get to enjoy Ric and Alexis sniping at each other and Cooty Looking the Fool as usual.
    Oh, and Molly was there too, doing Absolutely Nothing.
    I guess TPTB had Five Minutes to fill.
    Nap Time!
    ZZZzzzZZzz….
    Oh, are they trying to get Molly together with Cooty?
    Wake me when they go on an Actual Date.
    They probably won’t, because Cooty is such an Idiot, he’ll probably get himself arrest for real in the interim.
    Once again, Porthole never opens her mouth when she should.
    I know she agreed to do the Publicity Schtick with EwDrewQ because it’s “For A Good Cause”, but since Curtis already knows about Porthole’s Lab Results Forgery, just TELL HIM that Drew is Blackmailing you!!!
    Duh.
    Um…Where’s TJ?
    Is Gannon the Only Doctor besides Porthole left at GH?
    Oh, right, Lucas.
    But seriously, has TJ been kidnapped again?
    • Kam
      It annoyed me that Valentine is trying to act like he’s sorry that Carly got poisoned. A person rarely ever drinks champagne by themselves, especially when the cart is decorated with flowers. Even if he didn’t specifically know it was Carly, he had to know that Brennan was with somebody else, and that person would also drink the champagne. That person was collateral damage. As long as he got his mark Brennan, he didn’t care
      • Kathie
        Well, Valentine’s a liar. That was confirmed when we saw him flat out lie to Sonny about the medication switching.
        I agree that he didn’t care about Carly. I thought he looked self satisfied when he saw her take the champagne into the room. There were probably half a dozen ways he could have interfered with what happened next–pulling the fire alarm in the hotel for instance–and he did nothing.
        I’m neutral on Valentine. If he’s good or bad, I’m fine with either. If he’s on the show full time, recurring or not at all, I’m fine with all options. But I do not think he’s comparable to Sonny and Ava who have done some terrible, terrible things but at least have some boundaries. Valentine has shown complete disregard for endangering innocent people from the time he held a house full of people hostage to when his hitman tried to take out Sonny in a crowded hotel. And Sonny and Ava would never intentionally do anything to a child. As opposed to Valentine who gave a baby to Faison and tried to abduct Spencer at least once.
    • Marlena
      I don’t know why they got rid of TJ. It would have been nice for him and Molly to work things out and she ended up pregnant. I’m rolling my eyes right now.
      I hate that they are trying to push Molly and Cody together.
  7. Kam
    I suspect that whatever Nina found in Drew ‘s safe is probably the evidence of Portia’s tempering with Heather’s lab results. Since he has it, and Portia seemingly had no problem doing the press conference with him despite the issues between him and Curtis, Nina may correctly surmise that Drew is blackmailing Portia and pitch this to Willow. Unfortunately, those test results are not enough to prove that he’s actually blackmailing someone, and Willow would likely focus on Portia’s wrongdoing instead of Drew’s blackmailing.
    These Kristina and Lucky scenes…what is the reason for them? I feel like they may be leaning towards her developing feelings for him, but I see no attraction on Lucky’s end at all. I hope I’m wrong because the last thing we need is for Kristina to cause problems in another relationship.
  8. CeeGee
    Tamilu, thanks for a great column! I’m with you 100% on Valentin, I’m immediately so much more interested in whatever is happening when he’s onscreen and they need to give him a redemption arc pronto! As you say, we are routinely asked/expected to root for characters who have done similar or worse things (and who are less interesting to watch!)
    NuBrennan and Carly together are a snooze even despite the “dramatic” poisoning bit. Their love scene only made me think of what it might have been like if Charles Mesure was still in the role and my attention wandered during it. The best part of Carly ending up in the hospital for me was Jason rushing to her side.
    I know many won’t agree with me but I’m desperately hoping they never ever ever ever put Carly and Sonny together again romantically. Aside from it being done ad nauseum already, it’s such a toxic unhealthy dynamic for both of them (and their kids.)
    • Ryan
      CeeGee, when it comes to Valentin, my biggest roadblock in liking him was him taking elq away from Michael out of childish spite. Michaelโ€™s my favorite character and I hated that Valentin did that when Michael did nothing wrong. On top of that, he never apologized and he never did the right thing by willingly giving the company back to the quartermaines where it belonged.
      • Kathie
        I think your loyalty to Michael is so sweet. Valentine has done a lot of awful things though. The man gave a baby to a crazy, evil person! Then basically repeated it decades later when he gave Nell and Wiley fake passports. TWICE! I would put taking over ELQ in an act of spite waaay down the list of things he has to atone for, LOL.
        And while I like Michael, the Quartermaines could have gotten rid of Valentine a lot sooner than they did (presumably they have by now though there has been no discussion on who is running ELQ for a long time) if they hadnโ€™t been riven by interfamily politics. Rather than align himself with Ned in a way that respected Nedโ€™s history of being a good company man since before Michael was born, Michael lined up with Johnny-come-lately Drew. Which obviously did not work out well for him.
        • Ryan
          I agree with that. Itโ€™s definitely not as bad as some of the other things that Valentin has done. I just feel protective of Michael, so it really bugged me. Michael wasnโ€™t trying to hurt or disrespect Ned. I think he was honestly doing what he thought was the best thing to get elq back. Ned was just mad that Michael didnโ€™t kiss his ring.
          • Kathie
            I suppose it depends on your perspective. The way I remember it is Michael & Drew wanted to head up ELQ and give Ned a token job. So it was Ned who was supposed to kiss the ring
            At this point though, I think most of us would agree itโ€™s a good thing that the ELQ-Aurora merger didnโ€™t go through.
