General Hospital Commentary: Bang! Bang! Sidwell’s Silver Bullet

General Hospital Commentary: Bang! Bang! Sidwell’s Silver Bullet

Just when things got interesting with Dalton, Sidwell puts an end to the evil scientist. Will Laura take the fall — or will the law close in on Sonny? How long can Britt keep her secrets from Jason? It’s time to delve into a new General Hospital commentary for the week ending November 21, 2025.

Dear readers, itโ€™s been a while since we’ve seen Sidwell go full Sidwell. We have watched Jenz behave like a perfect gentleman, having tea with Lucy Coe, and attending business meetings with the movers and shakers of Port Charles. But until this week on General Hospital, we hadnโ€™t seen him pull out a gun in his living room and shoot someone to death point blank. Without warning, and apparently without regard for any DNA cops might find in his carpet.

Shocking! But also, anti-climactic and disappointing. Iโ€™m adding this to my long list of stunt casting gone wrong. General Hospital hyped the fact that they were bringing Daniel Goddard to Port Charles and my heart leapt with glee! As a fan of The Young and the Restless, I was anticipating the romantic leading man type instead of evil scientist type. He could have been a great Jax recast, and a love match for Carly. He could have been a new doctor at General Hospital and a love match for Liz. But alas, we barely saw him. His biggest scenes only aired this week. I thought, โ€œOh finally! His storyline is going to kick in!โ€ but before the end of the episode he was dead.

Dead end

When the kids didnโ€™t find any animals in the lab, I thought maybe Dalton had been a pawn, just like Britt, being forced to perform evil deeds while being blackmailed or something, but nope. Now heโ€™s just another General Hospital corpse.

Britt went to Sidwell to get help for Rocco, but Sidwell did not understand the assignment. She wanted him to get Professor Dalton to drop the charges, but instead Sidwell murdered someone in front of her.

Okay, now some logisticsโ€ฆ Sidwell was in Wyndemere on Spoon Island. He murdered someone, and the next thing we know, that body is in Lauraโ€™s trunk. So, someone (presumably Pascal) put the body on the launch to sail to the docks. Then they found out where Laura was parked, drove the body there. Next, they somehow snuck the body into her car undetected while everyone was on site watching election results? And this all occurred while Laura told off Ezra for five minutes? Sure.

A desperate plan

Meanwhile across town, Charlotte and Danny are coming up with a horrible plan to lie to the police which will make things much worse for everyone. Laura was on camera threatening Dalton publicly and now the body is in her trunk, so Ezra Boyle may end up the mayor yet.

When Laura found Dalton in the trunk, her blood curdling scream was so believable! When she put her hand down to his neck, I was screaming at my TV. โ€œNo! Donโ€™t do it! Donโ€™t touch him!!!โ€ She didnโ€™t listen.

Laura phones a friend

With Kevin out of town and Anna MIA, Laura scoured her contacts for a โ€œWho to call when you find a corpse in your trunkโ€ list, and the name she chose was Sonny. And of course, Sonny immediately came to her rescue and whisked Laura away. Genie Francis hasnโ€™t missed a beat in all these years. When Sonny makes her think through who did this to her and she concludes that it was Sidwell, I could fear Lauraโ€™s fear in my toes. Sheโ€™s remarkable. I love scenes with Maurice Benard and Genie. Their alter egos have so much history together and it plays out in every word they speak to one another.

But hereโ€™s the catch; Nathan saw Laura and Sonny together and he knows she had a flat tire, so when things come out, what will Nathan do? I still canโ€™t decide if there is a twist to Nathanโ€™s return, or if heโ€™s still the same lovable stand-up guy we have always known. If he tries to blackmail Laura or Sonny, Iโ€™ll know heโ€™s Peter.

The cleanup crew

Ha. Sonny called Jason, and naturally Jason ditched Britt immediately to run to Sonnyโ€™s rescue. Apparently, Jason dug under Daltonโ€™s bloody corpse to get the spare tire and change it so he could drive Lauraโ€™s car to Mob Wash Car Detailing where all DNA is eliminated from your murder car. It reminded me of the scene in Pulp Fiction where they call in The Wolf (Harvey Keitel.)

Sonny assured Laura that her car would be in her driveway tomorrow without a body in the trunk and all spiffed up. She figured out that Sidwell is the most likely culprit as Drew and Ezra are just stooges.

When Laura met with Drew this week, she told him that itโ€™s not too late for him to redeem himself and to go back to being the decent man he once was. If Drew found out that Sidwell murdered Dalton and tried to frame Laura, would you forgive Drew if he came forward? Is there a way that you can see yourself liking Drew again? Itโ€™s a tough swallow for me.

Britt knows what Sidwell did and is in her room at Bobbieโ€™s shivering under the covers. Right when Jason was about to promise Britt, he would put her first, Sonny sent out the Bat Signal and proved otherwise. I feel sorry for Britt, so I really wish Dr. O would try to work things out with Britt. I know that she and Britt are at odds, but if she understood the whole picture and knew Britt was being blackmailed for meds to stay alive, I think sheโ€™d soften. Liesl could make easy work of Sidwell.

I know itโ€™s terrible to say, but I think that I hate Drew more than I hate Sidwell even though Sidwell is much worse.

The fact that Drew is trying to frame Michael for shooting him — added to the fact that I LOVE Michael — may have a lot to do with that. But seriously, when do you think, our General Hospital writers are going to let us in on who actually pulled the trigger? My husband and I are both writers, and when we see storylines that go on and on without resolution, we always say โ€œThe writers haven’t decided who it is yet.โ€ Maybe thatโ€™s it? They are waiting to see who doesnโ€™t re-sign their contract and make them the shooter?

I donโ€™t know, but there are many suspects to choose from and compelling storylines in many directions. I hope itโ€™s Portia and that she goes down for it, Britt takes over as Chief of Staff, Jordan gets Curtis and Trina to realize Portia is a cheater and not an innocent victim.

Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego Anna Devane?

This crime would be easier for us to figure out if we had Anna Devane on the case. It seems very strange to me that everyone unquestioningly accepts that she was called out of town on a WSB case. If only Robert was still in town, he would definitely smell a rat.

Here is something that I loved this week, the redemption arc of Ric Lansing. Is Ric really ready to make peace with Alexis and Sonny? Oh, I hope so. Ric was my absolute favorite love interest for Alexis of all time. They had incredible chemistry together. I know Ric will always be low-key pining for Liz, but I also donโ€™t think she will ever take him back.

Perhaps Ric scored some points with Alexis by confiding in her about Portiaโ€™s motive to kill Drew. In addition, I think it bears saying that Ric and Sonny making peace is necessary right now. In real life, Carolyn Hennesy is facing health challenges, so Diane is AWOL. Alexis canโ€™t be Sonnyโ€™s lawyer, and certainly his arch enemy Sidwellโ€™s son isnโ€™t a great choice. Elsewhere, Scotty Baldwin have vanished into the air, and according to Kin Shriner they have reassigned his dressing room, so it seems Ric gets the prize until Diane is back on General Hospital.

It appears that Ric is legitimately trying to do a good job and had a good deal in place until Dalton lied and ADA Turner took him at his word. Since Justine double crossed Ric with the deal they made, I wonder if Sonny and Donna are going to be inviting her over for pasta or pancakes again? Probably not.

The usual suspects

Now that Dalton is dead, Sonny will be the number one suspect in Dalton’s murder, with Mayor Collins not far behind. Will Ric have to defend Sonny against murder charges? Will Britt come forward and out Sidwell? No. Not as long as he is holding her life saving medication over her head.

Paging Brad

It seems by now Britt should have tracked Brad down and asked him to run the potion through the General Hospital lab to try to isolate the formula and make a new batch! I hope Brad comes back by the time Lucas discovers that Carly is right thar Marco is dangerous and he hightails it out of Wyndemere.

Where IS Brad? And where is Aunt Selina? Sidwell chased her out of town, but I didnโ€™t think sheโ€™d stay away. I think she has enough goodwill with Sonny that if she explained everything to him, he would believe her.

But I digress. Now that we are certain that Britt didnโ€™t fake her death on purpose, and that she was kidnapped out of the clutches of death and immediately put to work at the Five Poppies, I feel sympathy for her. When she was in her room cowering under her covers crying, I wanted to hug her. She has no one to turn to. Her own mother isnโ€™t speaking to her, and Jason wants to help but is unreliable. He always puts Sonny first, even though he swore he was going to put Danny first. If he was putting Danny first, he wouldnโ€™t be out hiding bodies which could get him arrested and would leave Danny without a parent. But there Jason is. Britt is right to be cautious even though she doesnโ€™t have to be quite so mean about it.

Another person who is meaner than he needs to be is Dante. Heโ€™s such a hothead. I feel bad for Gio. Gio is a decent and upstanding young man, but Dante has been brutal to him, repeatedly. I was happy that Gio and BLQ had a mother/son bonding scene at General Hospital. When he called her โ€œmomโ€ I got a little verklempt. If this is the thing that draws mother and son together, then Iโ€™m all for it. But Dante doesnโ€™t deserve Gio until Dante learns how to express disappointment in his son without obliterating him.

Carly wants to obliterate Jack Brennan, but she is forcing herself to cozy up to him and pretend that nothing is wrong. The look of disgust on her face while he was on top of her was giving Pepe Le Pew/Penelope Pussycat vibes.  Brennan seemingly thinks they are back on track, while Carly is trying to stomach the thought of sleeping with the man who recruited her kid to be a WSB agent and lied to Carly for months.

Will Charlotte get to share a cell with her Papa when she is convicted in the lab break-in incident? Will the good people of Port Charles still think their mayor is a badass when her DNA is found on a dead man?

Can Sonny keep his piers, or will Ezra Boyle call for a recount and engage shady tactics to get his way? Will Joss and Vaughn keep sneaking around to see each other even though I secretly still miss Dex? Are Lizโ€™s kids going to come home for Thanksgiving or Christmas, or will she be dining alone with a TV dinner?

Will Willow be able to keep herself from breaking the court order to stay away from her kids? Will Michael and Jacinda get married, so she wonโ€™t have to testify against her new husband? Are Cody and Molly going to write a cowboy Christmas movie script together and then say “Yee Haw” after kissing under the mistletoe?

Finally, will you check out Dan J Kroll’s latest Beyond The Gates commentary? This week his column is called A Tsunami of Anger.

Only tomorrow knows, dear readers, and I will tune in tomorrow as long as there are tomorrows.

    ArmChair Critic Opinions, jotted down During the Week as I Watched.

    Woo Hoo!!
    Alexa Havins finally made the Opening Montage!!
    ::Cheers Wildly::
    See?
    Toldja.
    Now we need OutKast and Mister Ed (Comet).
    I see Nanzeen Contractor made it in as well, but I’m not liking her character very much at the moment.
    Boo.
    ~~~
    Portia to Curtis, “….I just need you to remember that this is what they consider an ‘Older Pregnancy’….It does mean that I want to take my time….”
    [Also, Curtis, the Baby probably isn’t Yours…!]
    Porthole continues to lie to Curtis, though omission.
    I can’t wait until BratFace Trina finds out her Mom has been Bumping Uglies with Gannon.
    I also can’t wait until Jordan and Anti-Stella find out.
    That little Tidbit should knock these High Horse Riders down a few pegs.
    Or….Fail To Do So.
    ~~~
    Britt was 100% Correct in everything she was saying to Emma.
    I’d actually like to see them working together to get Rocco off the Hook, and Dalton off the Planet.
    Hey, it worked for NotKrissy, Ava and Alexis!
    Britt’s connection to Rocco, as awful as it came about, might actually be beneficial in this case.
    And WHERE is Liesl??
    We need to get Frau Blรผcher involved!!
    ~~~
    Dante is an Idiot.
    I wanted to smack him silly when he was yelling at Gio.
    I don’t give a Rat’s A$$ if Laura is reelected Mayor.
    I’m glad she smacked Dalton, except it wasn’t hard enough.
    Sonny was right. “…It was BEAUTIFUL!”
    ~~~
    Not Beautiful?
    Carly and Droopy Dawg Brennan.
    Omg when he was all over her on the MetroSofa her face was like “Get me OUTTA here!!”
    ::Ring:: ::Ring::
    Carly: “You should GET THAT!!!”
    She practically THREW Brennan on the floor! That was pretty funny.
    ~~~
    Well, I don’t know about y’all, but I sure did enjoy watching Sidwell shoot Dastardly Dalton.
    Although I really wish he had done the same to Drew many months ago.
    Now the Scooby-Do Gang had better find Dastardly Dalton’s Other Lab, and rescue those critters!!
    When Britt asked Sidwell, what he was going to do with the professor, make him disappear? And Sidwell said,”… no he still has some use”.
    I pictured a “Weekend at Bernie’s” kind of thing.
    You know, what are they going to do, prop him up and drag Dead Dastardly Dalton around Town?
    Actually that would be pretty good.
    “Weekend at Wyndemere!”
    I can’t help but feel bad for Britt.
    Kelly T is so believable in her distress, though though you think Britt would be used to it by now!!
    But, just consider her upbringing.
    And my daughter thinks I’M bad!!!
    Whoops! There’s Bernie! I mean Dalton in the Mayor’s Trunk!
    Thanks, Sidwell, you’re a Real Gem.
    Quick!! Call AAA!!
    They’re having the “Flat Tire/Corpse in Trunk” Special!!
    When “Nathan” finally left and Sonny opened the Trunk.
    The way he looked at Dalton. Then looked at Laura. Then looked at Dalton again.
    I Laughed Out Loud.
    No Words Necessary.
    ~~~
    I really wish Stone Cold and The Britch would get some Me/We Time.
    The both need it.
    Same with Molly and Cowboy Cooty.
    Dang!!
    Kiss Each Other already!!!!
    Geez.
    ~~~
    I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.
    Chase is an Idiot.
    ~~~
    Awww…Gio and BLQ’s conversation got me a little Verklempt!
    It’s about Six Months Past Due, though.
    Okay when he said, “Thanks, Mom.” Where’s my Tissues???
    What a Good Kid.
    Can we keep him?
    Please?

  2. JDF

    Thinking about who shot Drew. I doubt that any gun “collector” would keep a loaded gun in their collection display case. I also doubt that a “collector” would keep a common, mass produced weapon in their collection. So, whoever took that gun from Eddie’s case would have had to acquire ammuniton and that ammo might be unique. Maybe the PCPD should check that out.

  3. JDF

    I was surprised when Sidwell shot Dalton since he doesn’t really do anything impulsive. He can’t frame Sonny or Jason since they were at the PCPD at the time and framing Laura does not make sense since she was
    with Lulu and then Sonny. So many holes in this story. The last time Dalton was seen with Laura was at the voting location. Then Dalton went to the Brown Dog, then took the launch to Wyndemere. I’m sure his location would not be hard to trace. They can’t put Laura and Dalton together. How would Laura carry Daltons’ body and put it in the trunk of her car? The timeline is also crazy. Even with the PC transporter, Sidwell couldn’t pull this off!
    The emotional and panicked Laura we saw after finding Dalton’s body is not the Laura we have known all these years. She should have just called Dante. This is a very contrived story line.

    There was one bit of information that was easy to miss if you weren’t paying close attention. We found out that Britt did not fake her death when she said that the last thing she remembered was dying in her mothers’ arms and then waking up at The Five Poppies.
    I thought the writers missed a great opportunity with Jason and Britt when they had Sonny call Jason away. Prior to that call, it was a perfect set up to finally break down that wall and unite Britt and Jason.

    Chase has become quite the jerk. He is actually gleeful about disproving Michaels’ alibi. It was Chases’ great idea to push Michael and Willow together in the first place. At this point , I’d love to see Chase get thrown off the PCPD and BLQ should dump him as well.

  4. CeeGee

    Tamilu, I could not agree more about Alexis and Ric (and how much do these two actors sparkle in scenes together that go beyond the boring sniping) and what a relief it is to have the writers give a hint of what it could be like if they let Rick Hearst play the full range of what he is capable of!)

    I too was glad to see them give more of the backstory of why and how Britt came to be working for the villians at the 5 poppies in a way that makes the duress clear. Another instance where the nuance they gave Britt before she went off canvas was sorely lacking and made it hard to want her back. But this thing she/they are doing where the only way she’ll believe that she can trust Jason is if he ONLY helps her and ignores everyone else makes it hard to root for them as a couple. Even Carly understands that Jason’s loyalty those he loves means everyone he loves.

    But separately, him (and Sonny) risking himself as Danny’s only parent (when Danny’s currently in trouble himself) is crazy. What, in all these years Sonny and Jason haven’t trained another reliable cleanup fixer or two in the organization? Very poor management style (not to mention succession planning!)

    • JDF

      Well, Jason has “died” enough times that Sonny should have multiple people who can step into the cleanup role.

  5. Ruthie

    Police regularly trace how cell phones ping off different towers. They could easily establish where Laura and Dalton were all evening. They could also figure out where Willow “drove around.” If she had her purse, which she must have had to be able to start the car.
