General Hospital Commentary: I’ve got a secret

There are so many secrets floating around Port Charles that it’s hard to keep up with all of them. Will Lois fess up that Brook Lynn and Dante’s son is closer than anyone realizes? Can Lulu keep her feelings for Dante under wraps while he’s grieving for Sam? Will Jason and Sasha correct Cody’s false assumption or use it to their advantage? Let’s discuss in this week’s General Hospital commentary for the week ending January 31, 2025.

Folks, lately secrets abound in Port Charles. There are so many that we need a flow chart to keep up with all of them — and who knows what. Let’s kick things off with the most recent skeleton to stumble out of the closet and enter the chat.

A few weeks ago, Sasha discovered that she was pregnant with Michael’s baby. She shared her news with a couple of people, but she was careful not to name the father. Luckily for Sasha, Michael agreed to let her raise the baby on her own because of the danger that Sonny’s lifestyle poses to all those near and dear to Sonny. It’s hard to argue with her logic, especially when Michael suffered catastrophic injuries in a blast intended for Sonny.

When Sasha was forced to announce that she was pregnant, Jason quickly deduced that Michael was the father. Did Tracy really see a mouse in the bookcase or was it some weird power flex? Who cares? It was a hilarious scene and it forced the secret out so I’m not mad.

After Sasha stormed out, Jason followed her to the boathouse where he confronted her with the truth. Sasha made it clear that she and Michael had reached an agreement regarding the baby, and that she didn’t need anyone’s help — especially Jason’s. In the very next breath, she felt the baby kick and before you know it, Jason had his hand on her belly and Sasha was gushing about how happy she was that he was there to share the wonderous moment. Unbeknownst to both, Cody had walked up and saw the entire exchange.

Cody quickly proved that his math skills are utterly lacking. He put one and two together and came up with Jason is Sasha’s baby daddy. Sighs. How is this idiot Mac’s son?

Clearly, this is going to pave the way for Jason to claim the baby as his. Will romance soon follow as Jason and Sasha bond over the baby and the pressure to raise “their” baby together? Most definitely. It’s a soap.

We’ve seen this all play out before with Jason and Carly, and again with Jason and Sam. Playing house and pretend-daddy is Jason’s love language.

I’m not sure how I feel about Jason and Sasha as a couple. Like Drew and Willow, there’s a big age gap between them, but the ick factor isn’t there. Sasha isn’t in a committed relationship with another man much less Jason’s nephew. Also, Jason isn’t the type to aggressively pursue someone or manipulate them into his bed.

Time will tell if Jason and Sasha find romance together, but it’s doubtful they will be able to keep the baby’s paternity a secret for too long. That’s not how it works on soaps. The only long buried secrets are the ones that come out in revisionist history.

That brings me to Brook Lynn’s recent revelation about the baby she gave up for adoption. For those who speculated all those months ago that Gio is Dante and Brook Lynn’s son, give yourselves a well-deserved pat on the back. You were right.

Brook Lynn and Lois confirmed through their conversation that Brook Lynn had Dante’s baby and gave him up for adoption without telling Dante about the pregnancy. She has kept this secret for over two decades. We also learned that Brook Lynn confided in Cody all those years ago, so he knew that Brook Lynn had been pregnant.

Why this was never mentioned before during any of Brook Lynn and Cody’s private conversations is beyond me. This is why I hate history being tampered with. Everyone looks bad here. Cody is a lousy friend to Dante, Brook Lynn is a coward and a liar, and Lois is equally deceptive because it’s clear that she never told Brook Lynn that Gio is the son that Brook Lynn gave up for adoption.

I feel sorry for Dante because he didn’t deserve any of this. He would never have let his son grow up without a father because Dante knows firsthand what that was like. I understand that Brook Lynn wasn’t ready to be a mother, but she took away Dante’s choice to raise their son as a single father. That’s not right.

Speaking of fatherhood, if I were Chase, I would get a second opinion from a fertility doctor. Why is he sterile? Did he have an illness or a birth defect that can be surgically corrected? General Hospital is filled with doctors who work miracles on patients. Just ask Lulu.

Sonny decided the best course of action for his heart episodes was to visit a cardiologist in California. Good thing he has Dr. Maria Santos (shoutout to Arlene) accompanying him on the trip. Sonny doesn’t want his enemies to know that he has heart trouble, and he doesn’t want to worry poor unfortunate Kristina.

My dad died of congestive heart failure in 2019, so I know that early diagnosis and treatment can be the difference between life and death. I hate how Sonny is being so reckless with his health even though he already decided to retire from the mob. It makes no sense. It also annoys me to no end that Sonny would postpone a consultation with a specialist in order to coddle a woman in her 30s. No mention of Avery or Donna, who are young children and could possibly grow up without their father. No, it’s all about Kristina. It’s always about Kristina.

Every time I hear Sonny fret over Kristina’s delicate psyche, I dislike her a smidgen more.

In Baden-Baden, Germany, Valentin resurfaced. He slipped into Jack’s spa room and tried to strangle him as payback for Colette’s botched hit. Carly arrived just in time to save Jack’s life. After being felled by Carly, Valentin managed to escape. For her trouble, Jack gave Carly a big passionate smooch and opened a small vein of his own secrets.

Was Jack completely forthcoming? Doubtful. The man is a spy and suspicious by nature. However, I love Jack. He’s interesting, charming, and exceedingly handsome. I think Carly and Jack will be a good fit. Carly has always been drawn to dangerous men, so this is not new territory for her. Jack needs someone like that because he dabbles in some dark stuff.

I’ve always loved General Hospital’s grey characters, and Jack has quickly become one of my favorites.

Sam has been dead for months, and Portia finally got around to telling Anna that someone is murdering patients. I’m so frustrated with this storyline. If Portia (and Terry too for that matter) had gone to Anna earlier, Dex might still be alive, and Michael would have been spared unnecessary agony.

I don’t know how many people Cyrus has killed, but if anyone besides Dex Heller died, I hope their family sues General Hospital. It’s downright criminal that the hospital has kept the police out of the loop for all these months.

I also find it implausible that Alexis would have patiently waited this long to get the results of Sam’s autopsy. It’s not in her nature. She’s a mama bear to her core. Why wasn’t she hounding Portia for answers and camping outside the lab?

I’m further mystified how it’s possible for Cyrus to move through the hospital — repeatedly — disguised as a doctor without it being caught on security cameras? Especially now that Portia and Anna have a suspect in mind. Even if Cyrus paid someone to erase the footage, Anna’s tech experts should be able to quickly determine that the footage was tampered with.

I work with a wonderful lady named Laura who watches General Hospital. She asked why Dex was not given a proper funeral, and why Josslyn — of all people — was in charge of settling his affairs. Did anyone even notify Dex’s family that he’s dead? Excellent questions that many of us have asked in the wake of Dex’s murder.

General Hospital writers have always given fallen police officers (except those who acted dishonorably) a proper send off. Yet, Dex got nothing. Not even a memorial service.

My friend Laura also wondered why Dex rooted for the Llanview football team rather than the Port Charles University Tigers. Did Dex grow up in Llanview? An intriguing question that got me to thinking.

What if Dex did grow up in Llanview and was connected to one of the prominent families there? That would be an amazing twist. I know that Dex is dead, but it would be an opportunity to bring someone from Llanview to Port Charles. Perhaps one of his brothers?

I know Dex said that his brothers were violent and bullied him, and that his father was abusive too, but what if all of that was a carefully crafted lie to hide a bigger secret? What if Dex was really a Manning, Lord, or Buchanan who had cut ties with his family? Being Todd Manning or Victor Lord Jr.’s son would be a lot for anyone to handle. By weaving the story of an abusive family, it would have given Dex the excuse he needed to maintain his distance from his family.

That said, there are laws. When someone dies, the next of kin is usually notified. Josslyn was not Dex’s next of kin. Dex’s parents were his next of kin.

I love Anna, but I don’t respect her much these days. She is a piss-poor police commissioner. The writers need to stop making her look so completely inept at her job.

The idea that someone has to report a kidnapping, which was flagrantly executed in broad daylight on the grounds of the Quartermaine estate in front of a witness is mind boggling. I don’t care if Anna had agreed to keep things on the downlow, while Jason was off rescuing Sasha. Once that warehouse blew up, it should have been an official investigation that included Sasha’s kidnapping and narrow escape from certain death. There should have been charges filed, ready and waiting for when Sidwell resurfaced.

It’s preposterous that someone like Sidwell can be free to walk the streets and commit more mayhem, while Anna builds a case against him. It’s because Anna failed to do her job that Sidwell was free to set that firebomb in Sonny’s penthouse.

Carlo Rota is General Hospital’s newest bad guy, Sidwell | (Disney/Christine Bartolucci)

I know that we don’t have definitive proof that Sidwell is responsible for the fire that ripped through Sonny’s penthouse, but the writers heavily hinted that it was Sidwell. He was positively giddy as he watched the explosion from the terrace of Wyndemere, and he has a history of blowing things up when things don’t go his way. He destroyed both his compound in Africa and the warehouse where he held Sasha captive.

I don’t know what Sidwell is up to, but I’m certain it’s not good. What will it take for Anna to file charges? Does Sidwell have to blow up the hospital?

Drew grows more detestable the scruffier his beard gets. I find myself gnashing my teeth every time he aggressively tries to spin things to his advantage and then resorts to threats when people don’t fall for his manipulations. It also annoys me to no end when he insists that he built Aurora Media when the truth is, he started it with Sam. Michael also played a big part in the company’s success.

Curtis stood his ground, which delighted me. He refused to betray Michael by teaming up with Drew. Drew has proven himself to be dishonorable and disloyal to everyone around him, including Curtis. Good for Curtis for not falling for that fork-tongued snake oil salesman’s lies and empty promises.

And kudos to Monica for giving Drew the boot and banning him from the grounds. I will forever be grateful that Tracy got Willow to agree to move back into the gatehouse with the kids. Tracy also made it clear that Willow is not to let Drew near the children or there will be consequences. I just wish she could protect Scout from that horrid man.

I don’t know what the writers have in store for Drew, but I don’t want any of the kids caught up in it.

I do believe that both Tracy and Martin protest too much. These two are hot for each other, and it’s just a matter of time before they hit the sheets. Lucy’s head will explode if they do, and I can’t wait for those fireworks.

Why is Elizabeth still on administrative leave if she wasn’t anywhere near the hospital during the attempt on Michael’s life?

Kristina scolding Molly because Molly went into assistant district attorney mode upon hearing about Sam’s murder made me want to throw my TV brick at Kristina. The weakest link in the family needs to check herself.

I get Dante’s desire to find Sam’s killer, but why would he think he could be a part of an official investigation? He knows better, and the writing for him is idiotic.

I have to admit that Lulu was starting to get on my nerves because the writers were leaning into her Spencer side a bit too much. Luckily, they have eased up on that and are focusing on Lulu’s relationships. Maxie has been the voice of reason, and it’s been refreshing to see Lulu admit her shortcomings to her bestie. It makes sense that Lulu is still in love with Dante, but the time isn’t right for her to declare her feelings to him. Dante needs time to grieve Sam, and I’m pleased that Lulu recognizes that.

Dear writers, more of Ric and Ava please. I know they are two flawed characters, but both Rick Hearst and Maura West are fantastic actors and their chemistry is electric.

    Liz, I get that the explosion may have changed your view on things, but you said a few weeks ago that you thought it was unfair of Sasha to ask Michael to give up the baby. When Michael returns, if he changes his mind about wanting to be a part of the baby’s life, how would you feel?

    • Liz Masters

      I still think it’s unfair to ask a parent to give up their rights because of things beyond their control. However, it’s hard to argue that she’s being unreasonable when Michael was injured in an attempt on Sonny’s life.
      Michael has proven himself to be a good dad who puts his kids first. He’s a good man who shouldn’t be shut out of his child’s life because of Sonny and Carly’s choices. Perhaps being with Jason will help Sasha see that. Afterall, if she falls for Jason and ends up raising the baby with Sonny’s enforcer then Michael should have as much right to be a father to the baby.
      I honestly think Sasha feels as she does because she’s scared. She’s lost so much, and this is a blessing that I don’t think she allowed herself to envision for herself. She has a second chance to be a mother, and she will do everything in her power to make sure nothing harms this baby.
      She forgets that she is in the same boat as Michael because of who her parents are. I’m sure Sidwell will remind her of that.

      • Ryan

        I totally agree with all of that. Sasha’s concerns are totally valid, but Michael shouldn’t be punished because of his family’s choices. I know that a lot of this is Sasha not wanting to lose her baby again. If I was her, I would probably be the same way.

    • Kathie

      Sasha may be too polite to mention other issues she doesn’t want to get in the middle of—such as the messy breakup of Willow’s and Michael’s marriage and any custody issues involved.

      Anyway, I don’t think Sasha has really thought this through long term. Aside from Michael’s rights, how is she going to address the absence of his/her father with the child? Does she really want to deny the child a perfectly good father, Wiley and Amelia? Is she going to lie to the kid or just refuse to answer questions? Quartermaine craziness and Corinthos dangers are not actually that hard to control when the kid is young by keeping your distance. Considering the recent issues with her own paternity, I am certain her stance will weaken once she thinks about it a little more.

      I have two minds on the Jason issue. On the one hand, I think it’s hilarious that 30 years after pretending to be Michael’s father (or not denying he wasn’t which was his excuse then), it looks like he’s going to get roped into the same situation. Women with paternity issues are like catnip for him. Aside from Carly and Sam, I think the only time he really wanted Elizabeth was when Jake was a baby.

      On the other hand, he should know how this is going to go. And again, he should be thinking of the kids. Not only Sasha’s baby, but is he going to lie to Danny and Jake? Considering Jason has a couple of decades on Sasha & a LOT of experience with paternity secrets and is less emotionally involved, I would expect him to make more rational decisions. But I guess that would be less interesting, hahaha

  2. Ryan

    Also, I really don’t want Sasha and Jason to be a couple. It’s true that it’s a totally different situation from drew and willow, but I can’t see Jason being with anyone who Michael has been with. I wouldn’t mind Sasha and Jason having a friendship, but that’s it. Also, I would love if Sasha and Michael reunited once he returns.

    • Liz Masters

      For me, the one-night stand was just that. A drunken encounter between two hurt people who needed comfort for one night.

      Sasha and Michael’s romance was a lifetime ago.

      But I want to see how things play out first. I’m not rooting for a romance between Jason and Sasha, but I sense where the writing is headed and I’m willing to keep an open mind.

      To be honest, I don’t when or even if Chad Duell will return. I hope he does, but if they recast the role then there might be a whole different energy to role, which might shift the dynamic between Michael and Sasha. That might be good or bad, so I’d rather focus on the now rather than what might be.

    • Ryan

      I agree about the one night stand. I was referring to Michael and Sasha’s past relationship. I agree that it was a long time ago, but I still think it would be a little weird if Jason and Sasha became a couple. Like I said, I just can’t imagine Jason being with anyone who Michael used to date.

  3. JDF

    Cody is certainly an idiot and his constant “woe is me” attitude just makes him worse. Apparently , the writers
    are fine with keeping Cody as the GH “loser”.

    • Liz Masters

      He acts like it’s everyone’s fault but his own that he lost $50,000 gambling. It really bugged me how he tried to shake down Spinelli and then started a fight with Lucky. What a POS. Buck up and own your mistakes. If he can’t afford to buy Serenity, then he certainly can’t afford to run the place, especially with animals to care for.

      • JDF

        Serenity seems to be even bigger than the Q mansion. I don’t think 50K is going to cut it and what bank would give a mortage to the village idiot? What is the career path for a stable hand? But, if Cody can’t get a loan, then he can feel sorry for himself and keep blaming the rest of the world for him being a loser.

        • Liz Masters

          Hahahahaha! He truly is the village idiot, isn’t he?

  4. JDF

    Why does Curtis need someone with more connections in Congress than Drew? Drew is a freshman
    congressman who has spent about 2 days in DC. He doesn’t have any connections in Washington.
    Why is Drew working put at Volonimos instead of his Wellness Center?
    Yes, Drew and Sam bought Derek Wells Media from Julian, with Jason’s money and renamed it Aurora. That is not “founding” a company.

    • Liz Masters

      I thought Aurora was failing because Julian had driven the company into the ground. Regardless, Drew wouldn’t have Aurora without Sam — and Jason’s money. Good point.
      From what I understand, Nina and Curtis plan to neutralize Drew by getting a more powerful congressional member to block anything Drew does to hurt Aurora.

  5. MLG

    There is so much inconsistent, plot hole ridden, bad writing on GH lately. Your article highlighted so much of it.
    I was annoyed at how inept they portrayed Valentin strangling Jack. Wouldn’t he wait to check that he was successful after Jack fell to the ground (i.e. checking for a pulse)? It didn’t seem like he knew Carly was coming at that point. Unless I missed something, it seemed like it would have made more sense for him to keep going until he was knocked out by Carly. It was clunky.
    Also, good point about Dex’s parents not being notified and not getting a proper send-off. I also wondered where Kai’s parents were, given the seriousness of his injury. If they didn’t want to bring new actors on, they could have at least mentioned that Kai had talked to them. However, it didn’t seem realistic that he would be in a private hospital room for several days (I don’t know how long it was supposed to be). Are his parents rich? Is PCU footing the bill?

    • Liz Masters

      Excellent point about Kai’s parents. I would have to be on Mars in order to skip being at my kid’s bedside for an injury that resulted in a hospital stay. I can’t imagine letting my son go through that alone.

    This Week, on Genital Hospital.
    Just My Opinions.
    I cannot believe Ninny STILL hasn’t told Willow about Ninny and EwDrew’s Rug Rash Reggae Rage Regala.
    Confess!!

    I want to know what Smarty was eating in the Restaurant with EwDrewQ.
    I paid no attention to the conversation, but the food looked good.
    What were they talking about?
    Oh right. Drew was whining because Monica won’t talk to him.
    Boo Hoo Drew.
    ~~~
    Oh, yeah, right.
    Like Willow can tell that Chase “Can’t Father a Child” just by looking at some MyChart Results on his phone.
    Brillo is Barely a Nurse at this point, she’s not a Friggin’ Hematologist!
    She just looks at his MyChart.
    What did it say?
    Or better yet, an Actual Qualified Opinion!
    Ned was actually The Voice of Reason.
    And when Sasha spouted, “I’m Pregnant!” the look on Lois’ face, was Classic.
    When is Lois going to tell BLQ that Gio is Dante and BLQ’s Bastard Son, and Olivia that she’s been a Grandma (again) for Eighteen to Twenty-One Years?
    We never did nail down an age on Gio, you know.
    And the look on Jason’s face.
    He knows who the Baby Daddy is.
    This should be fun.
    Cooty has actually become The Port Charles Village Idiot.
    Running all over telling everyone that Sasha’s carrying Stone Cold’s Love Child.
    Well, he’s an Idiot for many reasons, but this gives him the Official Title.
    • Kam
      When the truth comes out to Willow about Nina and Drew, it won’t have as big an effect as it would have had if it had come out when Nina first found out about Willow and Drew’s first kiss. After all the behavior that Willow has displayed lately, the only thing that reveal will do is make me glad that she’s getting some karma.
      Sasha is the cook, not a maid or an exterminator. That would have been my excuse for not climbing that shelf to find Tracy’s phantom mouse. The writers could have found a better excuse for her pregnancy reveal. I honestly don’t see the point of Cody’s character anymore. It’s not surprising that he made that stupid assumption about Jason just because Sasha put his hand on her belly and said she was glad that he was there. Tracy should be focusing her attention on pulling Cody out of this stupid slump he’s in, instead of focusing on Sasha and her baby.
    • Liz Masters
      I’m having a hard time with Nu-Emma too. She’s got a big chip on her shoulder, which doesn’t mesh with the gentle natured young lady we saw visit before this recast.
      • JDF
        That’s for sure! That’s why she’s Not-Emma.
    Portia definitely should have notified Alexis when she found out that Sam was given Digitalis that wasn’t prescribed to her. At that point it wouldn’t have been considered murder because they were still investigating whether it was a hospital error on behalf of the staff, and there were no other known victims, but Alexis needed to know updates as they were coming up.
    That being said, since they only suspected an error or negligence from one of the staff on Sam’s case, but no clear evidence, they had no way to prevent what happened to Dex because they didn’t know there was a murderer at the time. It wasn’t until Dex died that they became suspicious, but even when a third patient of Elizabeth’s was suspected of dying of the same thing, they still were only looking at Elizabeth for making a bad call with her patients, yet not deeming it murder. Afterwards, when Michael experienced the same symptoms and Isaiah correctly deduced that he should be giving the antidote for Digitalis, only then did they deduce that it was likely intentional and therefore murder, especially since Elizabeth was suspended and not in the hospital to be blamed.
    I do agree that Dex should have been given a funeral. As for his family not being notified, as Dex stated multiple times, he’s not close with his family and he cut ties with them. For the hospital, he probably had Jocelyn listed as his emergency contact, so she would have been notified. Now the police might want to get in touch with his family to let them know about his passing, but if Dex didn’t give anybody information on them, they might not know how to get in touch with them. Then again they are the cops, so they should be able to look into that information, especially by getting in touch with Dex’s military contacts.
    • Liz Masters
      My issue is the lack of investigation. If they were looking into who administered the injection, they would have known that it wasn’t Liz. We know this because we literally saw Cyrus enter Sam’s room and inject her with the deadly dose.
      Unless Cyrus tampered with the system, there should be no record of Liz getting or administering a dose of Digitalis to Sam. I’ve been in a hospital. Medications are scanned multiple times from when they are taken from the pharmacy to when they are given to the patient.
      Dex died weeks after Sam, and it’s up to the authorities to determine if someone committed criminal negligence not the hospital. If a proper investigation had been done, someone would have caught Cyrus — or an unaccounted doctor — creeping around the hospital and entering Sam’s room. There are security cameras everywhere.
    On the Dante issue: does he think growing up without a father—considering who his father was—was a bad thing? I thought he had a good childhood with his devoted mother and a lot of community support. And also that he understood why Olivia made the decisions she did. Yes, he now has a good relationship with Sonny and surely would have preferred more honesty from his mother earlier than he got it. But at heart, Dante is a mamma’s boy, and I don’t recall that he’s ever had issue with the fact that Olivia raised him on her own.
    Is that going to translate into him thinking it was OK for him to be excluded from his son’s life? Probably not. He wasn’t in training to be a mobster for one thing. But if I’m understanding the revised history correctly, he would have been a teenager when he got Brooklyn pregnant. So would it really have been a better decision for him to raise the kid as a teenage single father? Because the other option looks like it worked out pretty well—until Gio’s mother died at least. Legally and ethically, Dante should have been given the option to have input into those decisions. But what would you do when there is a difference in opinion between the two parents? When Lulu and Dilon went through something similar—which theoretically would have happened within a couple of years of this new scenario—Lulu was honest with everyone & had Dilon’s input, but in the end, she made her own decision. I suppose it’s different once the baby is actually born, legally for sure.
    I’m not sure I like this storyline, but I am keeping an open mind. I also think it raises some interesting ethical issues that I doubt will be addressed in favor of focusing on the drama of the situation. I also think I have a lot of opinions where I’m going to be on my own. Like the honesty issue with Brooklyn. When you get married, are you required to bare your soul to your partner about everything that happened in your past? I think no, not even a pregnancy, not if it’s in the past. But, it’s true that past is usually not even past. So if there’s something significant with someone who is now your husband’s partner at work, now are you required to tell your husband? I am still going to say no, not when it was brief and a really long time ago. But if you have had honesty issues with said husband in the past and know he’s going to flip out when he finds out you withheld information, secrecy is not a good idea.
    Now if Brooklyn knew Gio was her son and he was in their lives, that would be a completely different story. That was always my problem with Portia. I had no problem with her keeping Curtis uninformed throughout Trina’s childhood or even when they first met again in Port Charles (lying to Trina and Taggert was another matter). But when they got involved romantically again and she still kept quiet—well, I still can’t believe Curtis got over that when he dumped Jordan for lying about her work.
    • Liz Masters
      Reason 3,4326 why I hate messing with timelines. Dante first appeared in Port Charles June 2009, some 15-1/2 years ago. Gio would have roughly been around 3 years old at the time based on Gio’s current age.
      When Dante arrived in PC, he was a seasoned detective working undercover. According to the current timeline, Dante was born April 1984, which means Dante was 22 when he got teenage BLQ pregnant during summer camp. It’s ridiculous.
      Beyond that, Dante didn’t even learn about Sonny until he came to PC. He stated several times over the years that growing up, he did feel the hole from not having a father. He had his uncles, the Cerullos, and neighborhood friends, but he didn’t have a dad. He absolutely would have stepped up for his kid, especially since he was a grown man with the means to support a child.
      • Kathie
        Yes, it’s confusing and doesn’t add up. I have always been under the impression that Dante and Cody were teenagers at the camp they’ve frequently referred to. And that makes more sense. They were not wealthy young men who would have had the luxury to fritter away a summer as camp counselors if they were post college age. They would need better paying jobs. And I don’t think the show wants to introduce any age gaps that raise statutory rape issues. So I’ve been presuming GH was playing with the timeline and making all three characters teenagers as summer camp. Maybe on the higher end of the teenage range, but it has to be before Brooklyn came to PCU in the early 2000s.
        Really that sort of messy math is pretty common. There’s Cam, Spencer, Emma and Joss who were born spaced out between 2004 and 2009 but are apparently all the same age. Heck, Josslyn and Emma should be younger than Jake. Cam was born before Molly. And what about Michael? His age should be fixed in relation to Josslyn because he was 18 when he killed Claudia. So if Joss is 22ish now, Michael should be around 40. And because of the flashback we saw with a 5ish year old Nelle and Carly–before she ever came to Port Charles–in Frank Benson’s apartment, Nelle and Willow would be maybe 7 or 8 years older than Michael. So 47-48 now. Clearly not the case and doesn’t add up with Nina coming out of her 20 year long coma 10 years ago.
        And so it goes.
        I can understand Olivia sending her city kid, Dante, to a summer camp but even leaving out the time line and age differences it gets hazy. Cody grew up on Serenity, which I recall was a country estate and I believe that Cody mentioned it had horses. Why would you send a country kid to a summer camp? BLQ, always was always interested in a music career and she could have just spent the summers with her father on the Q estate, so “summer camp” doesn’t make much sense for her either.
