Drew is quickly racking up enemies all over Port Charles. Alliances are being forged to stop him before his dastardly plans of revenge can be carried out, but is there more going on than meets the eye? Will Drew find himself at the center of a murder mystery? Letโs discuss in this weekโs General Hospital commentary for the week ending February 28, 2025.
Drew seems to find a new low with every passing week. By now, itโs clear to most viewers that the writers are deliberately painting Drew in the worst light possible. They are also moving Drewโs adversaries around like chess pieces ready to square up against the newly minted town villain. With so many determined to take Drew down, is it a recipe for a murder mystery?
Port Charlesโ usual suspect
Jason tried to make peace with his twin for the sake of the kids, but itโs clear that Jason despises Drew. Unfortunately for Jason, the feeling is mutual, so Drew didnโt hesitate to hang Jason out to dry when the opportunity presented itself.
A few hours after leaving Drewโs Dawn of Day house, Jason was arrested for Cyrusโ murder. Assistant District Attorney Turner is eager to make a name for herself. She foolishly thinks two strands of Jasonโs hair in Cyrusโ secret hideout is enough to convict and send Sonnyโs notorious enforcer to jail. Silly woman. This is one murder that Jason didnโt commit.
Itโs a ridiculously weak case, even by General Hospital standards.
Yes, Jason publicly threatened Cyrus, but so did Josslyn, Laura, and others over the years. Cyrus was a nasty piece of business who did morally reprehensible things. Itโs why he served several stints in jail. There really was no shortage of people who thought the world would be a better place without Cyrus in it. No one will shed a tear if and when his body is found because he deserves to be burning in the deepest depths of Hell.
The truth is, Cyrus was fleeing from the law at the time of his disappearance. He was wanted for multiple murders, and the attempted murders of both Lucky Spencer and Liz Baldwin, as well as several others. Given Cyrusโ long history with the underworld running a criminal organization and the overwhelming evidence against him as a serial killer, he had the means, motive, and opportunity to vanish.
Why is no one pointing that out? When you hear hoofbeats, think horses not zebras.
A circumstantial case
The case against Jason is flimsy at best. The cabin had been wiped clean save for those two strands of Jasonโs hair. There was no evidence that Cyrus had even been there let alone that he — or anyone else — had died there. All the police know for certain is that Cyrus was on the lam. The rest is pure conjecture.
Additionally, Jason drives a very distinctive yellow sports car, which Iโm sure could easily be tracked for movements. All the police would have to do is look at local traffic cameras, and any other cameras along the way. These days, most businesses and homes have them. Those cameras would confirm that Jason indeed went to a very public cemetery, which Iโm certain also has cameras, and then popped over to Drewโs new love shack.
Phone records and cell towers could also be used to corroborate Jasonโs alibi. It would take Spinelli five minutes to prove that Jason told the truth, and that Drew is a petty fork-tongued jerk face.
Drew lies and Willow complies
To no oneโs surprise Drew tossed his twin under the bus then jumped into the driverโs seat, backed up and ran over Jason again for good measure. The lies easily flowed out of Drewโs deceitful mouth, but only Willow seemed to believe him. Iโm pretty sure even ADA Turner saw through Drewโs insincerity, but she chose to ignore it. Sheโs after a conviction not the truth.
Willow still sees Drew as an honorable man despite evidence to the contrary. The man has been ostracized by his family, and he has no friends left. Maxie doesnโt count because he hired her. Willow believes she and Drew are only guilty of falling in love with each other. She goes as far as to put equal blame for the breakdown of her marriage on Michael, even though she was the one who was carrying on an emotional affair for months.
Willow romanticized her tawdry affair with Drew because itโs easier for her to live a lie than to admit an ugly truth about herself. She’s a terrible judge of character in large part because she was raised in a cult. Willow was groomed from an early age to put her trust and faith in the wrong people. Red flags are green in her world. She’s blinded by Drew’s reputation as a kind and upstanding pillar of society that she can’t see how twisted he’s become.
Drew masterfully isolated Willow from all those she once held dear and makes her feel as if he is the only person who truly loves and understands her. Itโs why I feel so strongly that Drew is not who he seems. He reminds me so much of Shiloh in the way he speaks and even his mannerisms.
Willowโs reckoning
I really wish Willow would spend more time at General Hospital and less time with Drew, but I know she wonโt. She worships Drew and trusts him implicitly, so it wouldnโt occur to her to question his intentions. Itโs why she doesnโt understand how completely absurd it is for her to uproot her kids again and move in with Drew. In her deluded mind, they will all live happily ever after in blended family bliss.
In my eyes, there needs to be a reckoning for Willow when this is over. She is damaged, but she is still responsible for her actions. At no point did she put her kids or her marriage first. She lied, made excuses, and carried on an emotional affair. Willow put her needs above everything else. I donโt want Willow to walk away from this as some kind of victim or martyr because Drew turned out to be the master of this disaster. She will be doomed to repeat her mistakes if she doesn’t pay a price. No thank you.
Alliances form as General Hospital gears up for soapy drama
Months ago, Laura told Sonny that they could no longer be friends because heโs a mobster and she couldnโt continue to turn a blind eye to his crimes.
Fast-forward to Thursday, and we have Laura forging an alliance with Sonny because Laura, Jordan, and Curtis need Sonnyโs help to stop both Drew and Sidwell. Iโm happy with the new partnership, but I wish Laura would acknowledge that she was a crappy friend and that she has no room to judge. After all, she was once married to Luke Spencer.
I really wish the writers would do a better job of cleaning up their messes.
Laura, Sonny, Jordan, and Curtis arenโt the only ones plotting against Drew. A much more lethal duo made a pact, and they have far more personal reasons for taking on Drew.
More trouble brews for Drew
Narly (Nina and Carly) agreed to put their differences aside in order to save Willow from herself. Grandma Nina and Grandma Carly donโt want creepy Great-Uncle Drew anywhere near their darling grandbabies, Wiley and Amelia. I don’t blame them. None of us want that.
I love when General Hospital does frenemy storylines. It was fantastic when Tracy and Monica teamed up for a common good, when Maxie and Brook Lynn put their differences aside to keep Bailey Lou away from Peter August, and of course when Nina and Ava became unlikely best friends.
I love that Drew wonโt see Narly coming, and that they arenโt afraid to play dirty. Go get him, ladies!
Quartermaines close ranks
That brings me to the Quartermaines. They too are closing ranks against Drew. Well, Tracy is, and she seems to be calling the shots these days. Tracy sees Drew as an opportunist and interloper who seduced his nephewโs wife and broke up their happy home.
Drew likes to remind Tracy that the Qs have a long history of adultery and scheming against each other, but Tracy will have none of it. I get it. Drew has never really been a Quartermaine. He only embraced that identity to increase his recognition during the election.
In truth, Drew hasnโt paid his dues as a Quartermaine. Michael has, and for that reason the family has sided with Michael.
I think Drew sees himself as a modern-day Edward Quartermaine, but he’s far from it. Edward was crafty and conniving, but he was also charming and entertaining. Drew has none of those qualities. Heโs completely unlikeable.
Will we finally get our murder mystery?
For me, Drew has crossed the point of no return. Seducing Willow and destroying her marriage is one thing, but heโs actively trying to replace Michael in Wiley and Ameliaโs lives. He doesn’t care about the kids. I know this because he didn’t even know that Willow hadnโt told Wiley about the divorce or Michael’s injuries.
Drew’s willingness to team up with Sidwell is another strike against him. He knows what Sidwell is capable of, but he doesn’t care.
Many General Hospital viewers have been clamoring for years to get a good old-fashioned murder mystery. Will Drewโs inevitable downfall provide the writers with that opportunity? We will have to stay tuned.
Agent 99 reporting for duty
Josslyn has decided to take Jack up on his offer and joined the WSB as their newest agent. But she made it clear that she has no intention of killing people. I cracked up. Sheโs clearly never watched a James Bond movie.
There have been complaints on social media that Josslyn is too young to be a spy, but I disagree. Jack, Valentin, and Anna were all recruited around the same age that Josslyn is now. For the same reason that the armed forces recruit people fresh out of high school, so do spy agencies. The General Hospital writers got it right.
I think the WSB will be a good fit for Josslyn because Jack made some valid points. Sheโs intelligent, athletic, and she has a strong sense of law and order. Surprising given that her uncle (Jerry Jacks) is a supervillain, and her ex-stepfather (Sonny) is a powerful mob boss. Oh, and her motherโs best friend (Jason) is a mob enforcer.
A little Port Charles geography
Martinโs claim about the Quartermaine mausoleum being partially on public land made no sense. Zero. Zip. Nada.
The land and the house belong to Monica. It has been in her name since she and Alan moved in. Edward could not have legally applied for a permit much less obtained one.
Additionally, the mansion is part of a wealthy enclave of Port Charles, so there are other opulent homes in the neighborhood including the Barrington Estate. Across the lake, which is on the back end of the Quartermaine property, are more mansions, including Carlyโs home. What โpublicโ land was Martin referring to? The street? Are we to believe the Quartermaine family crypt was built next to their mailbox?
It was always my understanding that the mausoleum is near the boathouse, and the gatehouse sits on the edge of the property. Drew recently confirmed this when he scaled the fence to visit Willow for some afternoon delight in said gatehouse.
In the past, General Hospital viewers would see people take a pathway off the back terrace to get to the mausoleum. They would often enter with a bloom from Lilaโs rose garden, which they passed along the way. It makes more sense that something as private as a family crypt would be hidden from prying eyes — and public land.
General Hospital quick takes
Michael Fairman reported that Tajh Bellow (T.J. Ashford) is off contract at General Hospital, and the writers are banking on a Molly/Cody relationship. Bad move. Cody is a man-child and old enough to be Mollyโs dad. Isn’t one bad May/December romance enough?
Iโm delighted that Trina is in a better place, but Iโm just not feeling her romance with Kai. Itโs tame and boring compared to what she had with Spencer. Either bring Spencer home — we all know he didnโt perish in Paris — or spice things up with Kai.
I adore Sasha, but I hate how she seems to equate raising the baby as a single mother with going it completely alone. The baby deserves to be surrounded by love and family, and single mothers need a strong support system just as much as two parents do. More.
Bravo Ric for calling Kristina out. The delivery was harsh, but everything he said was true. She needs therapy. Her parents continuing to coddle her wonโt help her heal. It allows the deep wounds to fester.
Happy viewing!

Just want to say that I enjoy these columns every week. I nod and smile as I read – most of the time. ๐ I kinda like Cody and Molly together, I like their chemistry. And Cody, man-child that he is, doesn’t come across as 15+ years (by my rough rough reckoning) older than the older than her years Molly. I don’t know about long-term, but I could buy a nice fling for a bit.
Again, thank you for this weekly treat!
I liked Cody when he and Sasha were together, but all that nonsense about buying Serenity, and the way he acted when he lost the money just reminded me of all the reasons that I didn’t like him to start with.
I’m also annoyed with how the writers ended Molly and T.J. and now T.J. is gone.
I wouldn’t inflict Cody on anyone, except maybe Willow. I think that they both need therapy.
Is anyone going to notice that Drew bought the Dawn of Day house? Willow lived there, Jason rescued Kristina from there, DUH!
I’ll agree with you there, Liz. The writers did Molly and TJ dirty with the way they ended them. It was SO un Molly and TJ.
I totally agree with you. I was hoping that eventually Molly would have gotten pregnant. I loved her and TJ together. Did they let him go to bring Lucas back? They could have left that Lucas where he was. Hopefully they will bring TJ back full time because he just disappeared without reason. His mom is there but he’s gone. Could they have sent him to a medical conference or something. Stupid writers.
Thanks for coming over to my site and hanging out with Liz and I again this week ๐
Liz,
I am here for that frenemies team up and for the mission to do something about Drew. You left out a couple of good ones, Anna and Liesel (please bring her back), Liz and Sam the night Sam realized Jason would never pick her over Carly or Sonny and they went drinking and cathartically burned the leather jacket. I would also be for a team up the same way everyone in small coordinated ways teamed up to get Jordan her new organ a couple years ago.
All excellent examples! I agree, it’s time to bring Liesl back. Someone needs to remind Willow that Liesl saved her life not Drew. Drew was just the escort home.
Love this! Spot on! Iโm past ready for Drew to have his comeuppance! I seriously think the man is off his nut! Perhaps he and Kristina could get into the same nut house for treat ment if someone doesnโt kill him first!
As to historyโฆ well, GH doesnโt believe in it. They just make up whatever suits the storyline they want to present. They think folks like me and others who have since the first episode donโt know the real deal. ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Liz Masters for the defense!!!! You’re better than Diane.
Why is the PCPD assuming that Cyrus is dead and arresting anyone for murder? After attempting to murder Elizabeth and Lucky, Cyrus fled the scene to avoid arrest. Of course he would be missing. Do they expect him to be hanging around?
The ADA’s handling of Drews questioning was all wrong. She should have left Jason in the interigation room and not asked Drew about Jason. She has no idea of their relationship or whether Drew has a motive to lie.
Furthermore, Jason and Drew are supposedly identical twins and 85% of identical twins have identical DNA so Drew should have been treated like a suspect as well. The ADA should have asked Drew about his whereabouts at the time in questionand whether he could verify it. Drew would have had to say that he was with Jason.
LOL! I watch a lot of Law & Order and Perry Mason!! ๐
Yes, Trina and Kai are excrutiatingly boring. I feel the same way about the whole BLQ/Chase having a baby story and Gio being the offspring of BLQ and Dante.
Joss can’t tell anyone that she’s now a WSB agent? Well, that’s a first!
Love your column and look forward to it every week. I SO want GH to kill off Drew (hate the character, like the actor) and have it become a true murder mystery. Half the town would be suspects. I agree with you about Willow. She needs to face the consequences of HER actions. Michael is in no way responsible for her affair with Drew and she and Michael did NOT grow apart the way she claimed. They only problems they had were Willow not telling Michael she had cancer until she was well into her second trimester and Michael not telling her that Nina was the one who turned in his mother and Drew to the SEC. Willow didn’t want to upset Michael or have him try to persuade her to have chemo and abort the baby. Michael didn’t want to hurt his father or Willow by telling them what Nina had done. Because Willow was so sick Michael never made an issue of Willow keeping that kind of information from him. Willow though gave Michael a hard time because she didn’t need to be protected and deserved the truth. She couldn’t see the irony in that she did the same thing to Michael. However, they seemed to get past that. It just seems a little strange to me that almost a year and a half AFTER Drew brought Liesel back for the bone marrow transplant, then and only then did her hero worship of him turn into a sexual attraction.
Also, Sonny told Jason on Friday the timing of Sidwell coming to PC the day of the penthouse bombing was a coincidence, and he doesn’t believe in coincidences. However, it didn’t make sense Sidwell would try to kill him first and THEN try legal means to take over his territory. It should be the other way around. Jason even mentioned the bomb Sidwell used in the warehouse to kill him, and Sasha was NOT the same one used at the penthouse. That got me to thinking maybe DREW is the one who had the bomb planted at Sonny’s penthouse to try to kill him AND Jason. Michael was just collateral damage.
Thanks for coming over to my new site to read Liz’s column. I’m hoping some of my other writers will be joining us in the weeks ahead.
Dan Kroll, I am waiting for a column on the bunny whisperer moniker. I have a bunny that could have really used a whispererโbut after 9 years, itโs probably a lost cause, hahaha
Thank you!
Yeah, Willow’s decision to keep her cancer a secret is when I started disliking her. She did it because she assumed that Michael would want her to terminate the pregnancy and start treatment. Maybe he would have, maybe he would haven’t. We will never know because Willow never gave him the chance to have any say.
I positively love this column – especially its title!
Thank you so much! It was the first thing that popped into my head when Drew tossed Jason under the bus.
Liz, I love your posts so much. Everything you said about drew and willow was spot on.
Thank you, my friend. ๐
Another Fun, Frustrating Week!
This Week, on “Hypocrite Junction!”
BLQ to Lois:
“Ma!! I told Chase about my Bastard Love Child!!”
Lois:
“Did you tell him his Best Friend Dante is the Baby Daddy?”
BLQ:”Yeeeewwww…No.”
And how’s Gio gonna feel when he finds out, and you know he will, that these folks have been lying to him for the past 21 years?
~~~
I cannot wait till Stone Cold finds out that Joss blew Smiley away.
So now Anna’s going to arrest Jason for what?
“Disappearing” Cyrus?
Got Proof?
Nah!! This is the PCPD Clown Squad!!
We don’t need No Stinking Proof!!
Once again, Weepy Anna makes EVERYTHING about HERSELF!!
“You went against ME you went against MY FRIENDSHIP! Waaahhh Waahhhh Waahhhh…”
Shaddap!!
So, who planted Jason’s Hair in Smiley’s Secret Safehouse (that used to be AGH’s Not So SafeHouse)?
Droopy Dawg Brennan set Stone Cold up? Carly will be Livid.
Is Joss gonna Fess Up?
How is Jason being charged with Murder by the New Clown Squad ADA, anyway?
There’s NO Body!!
And why is everyone Assuming that Smiley is dead??
We know he’s dead, Joss and Droopy Dawg (NotBrennan) know he’s dead.
But nobody in Actual Law Enforcement saw him Dead.
So why are they so sure?
~~~~
Ric and Ava look sooooo good together!!
They remind me of a Decadent Souffle.
~~~
Everyone’s checking out Drew’s New Digs.
I was waiting for Alexis to exclaim. “Drew you IDIOT!! Why did you buy the Dawn Of Day House???”
Oh Look! It’s Ninny and Brillo!!
Is Ninny finally going to reveal that she and EwDrewQ were Bumping Uglies Fairly Regularly while he was chasing Willow?
Maybe Maxi will let it slip.
C’mon, Maxi!!
Spill!!!
And what’s this about Curtains for the “Morning Room”? Shouldn’t Y’All call it the “Dawn Of Day Room”??
Speaking of Lousy Rotten Traitors, why does Jason think his Idiot Brother’s gonna vouch for him?
I’m sure EwDrew will claim, “I NEVER saw Jason last night between 11Pm and Midnight!”
Just wait.
But, hey, how can Jason be charged?
Where’s the Deceased??
No Body.
“What?? We don’t need NO STINKING BODY!!!”
~~~
While I ADORE Lydia Look, why do we have to watch Brad getting sucked in by Anti-Selina again?
I’m no fan of Brad, but I can see where he MIGHT be Redeemed.
This gambling thing is frustrating and aggravating.
Especially since it was Cooty Bell, the Port Charles Village Idiot’s doing.
I much prefer The Dragon Lady when she’s messing with Sonny’s head.
So Brad gave Anti-Selina the Lab Results that Porthole altered?
Does he WANT to get fired??
I TOLD Y’All that Finn would be a Sperm Donor Candidate.
A few of us predicted this weeks ago.
And I agree it’s a Lousy Idea.
But they’ll probably do it anyway, because the Writers Have No Original Thoughts.
~~~
I hope Joss shoots EwDrew ( NoLongerQ per Tracy)!
Say, why has there been no mention of Joss’s Dad, Jax?
Is he no longer involved in his daughter’s life?
~~~~
I thoroughly enjoyed Ric’s Altercation at Bobbie’s with Sonny and NotKrissy, but Ava really should have just stayed with Ric and had Coffee.
Of course Alexis has to jump up and “Rescue” NotKrissy, leaving Molly High and Dry.
Thanks, Mom!!
~~~
Oh this Sidwell Thing.
Do the Writers even know where they’re going with this?
I cannot wait until Sonny discovers that Mami Dearest and Sidwell were “Married”.
That should be fun.
This “Deception” Special Mineral BS?
SnoozeFest.
Now perhaps if Erika Kane were to pop into one of these “Deception Meetings” with Tracy present we could have some fun.
Did you know that there is such a thing as zincite? It’s not rare and it’s a byproduct of zinc mining and some is actually produced in NY state.
Lucy can’t make a deal without Tracy signing off on it since she’s the majority owner of Deception. Why do the writers forget these little details? They made up all these details.
The Writers seem to forget everything from one week to the next.
What annoyed me about Lucy trying to get recruit Sidwell is that Tracy and Brook Lynn get the final say. Why were they left out of the conversation? They have controlling interest in Deception, not Lucy or even Maxie.
Pretty much everything about Sidwell requires the abandonment of all logic. I donโt think this is unprecedentedโremember how Jerry Jax lived free for years after he held a hotel full of people hostage?โbut the writers are pushing their luck
Everything annoys me about Lucy!!
Argh, don’t get me started.
So good to “see” you!
BTW, Liz, I literally *just* got your message on Twitter (X-whatever) from September, as I rarely go there, especially since the New Regime has inserted themselves into everything.
I’m so glad you and Tamilu are still writing, but I do miss the old format. โฅ
I’m not surprised Brennan framed Jason for Cyrus’s disappearance. The police would have kept looking for Cyrus if they thought he had just disappeared, but they clearly didn’t want the trail to leave back to Josslyn for his murder, so they had to frame somebody who would be obvious. However, I agree that the ADA believing that she could convict Jason on that minimal evidence, which is clearly planted is ridiculous. Despite the fact that Cyrus was headed in that direction and happens to have had a relationship with Paul’s and Gavin holds does not prove he was ever at that cabin. And the fact that the place was fully cleaned, yet Jason’s hairs were left behind, clearly screams frame job. But even if you wanted to believe it was real, it still doesn’t prove that Jason did anything except be in that house, which again, we can’t prove Cyrus was ever in.
I’m curious as to what assignment they sent Jocelyn on already. It’s surprising that Carly and Trina just accepted this sudden trip so readily, without a goodbye in person. Also, When Brennan was explaining some of the qualities that would make her a good spy, which included her beauty, I’m surprised she didn’t think of the fact that they might want her to seduce people. I mean, look at Anna and her sister Alex.
I really hope when everything comes out about Drew for Willow, it really blows up in her face. I don’t want anybody feeling sorry for her and coming to her aid. They need to let her soak in her mistakes and make up for the crap that she did. She will definitely try to play the victim, but other than Nina, I do not want anybody to accept her as such. And while she would have a right to be upset with Nina for keeping her relationship with Drew a secret, she still wouldn’t have a moral high ground to stand on, so she better get over that quickly.
Are Carly and Nina still working together to take down Drew? I haven’t seen them come up with a plan since they agreed to do this about 2 weeks ago. Hopefully now that Drew clearly lied about Jason’s alibi, and Nina was trying to snoop into Drew’s safe, they will get together again with whatever Nina was hopefully able to find. I also hope that Curtis’s plan with this other congressman will work in his favor, and cause significant problems for Drew.
Joss was sent for training not on assignment yet.
I do not understand the jump to railroad Jason. If I recall, when he came to the show 2 times ago, it was known that as identical twins, Jason and Drew have the same DNA. Why is everyone assuming the hair is Jason’s. It could be Drew’s.
My main issues are actors are being put in stories they cannot carry and their lack of acting skills are showing. Eden Mccoy may be a lovely person irl, but she cannot act. Not once did I believe she was in love with Dex. Her “grief” for dex was cardboard. She’s just a cardboard actress. Same with Cameron, who’s spent so many years hosting morning show and game show that his delivery is very much that of a game show host. Even when he was with Carly it felt very much game show host.
The writers have done molly and tj wrong on so many levels. They rushed the endometriosis diagnosis of Molly, they rushed the infertility story and made Irene’s death all about Kristina who takes no ownership for her own actions and her parents feeding her delusions don’t help. Having Alexis ignore molly and paint ric as the bad guy is dumb move.
Someone on X said that the writers are changing the characters to fit the storylines instead of letting the characters tell the story. That is so true.
I respectfully could not disagree more about Eden McCoy, I think she is a wonderful actress with incredible range. And I thought she and Evan were great onscreen together with real chemistry.
I am not a fan, though, of this latest storyline for Joss, though. Seems dumb and not a good use of her talents.
