General Hospital Commentary: A family affair

Michael is back and taking charge! Can Drew keep his promise to Willow that she won’t lose her kids? Will Nina blow up the court hearing with a bombshell about Sasha? Meanwhile, Gio’s world has imploded, and Lois is facing the music for her choices. It’s all about family affairs in this week’s General Hospital commentary for the week ending May 30, 2025.

Family drama was front and center this week on General Hospital and I loved it. Wow. There were so many powerful performances, and every episode was a must see. I can’t remember the last time I was this excited to tune in each and every day. I’m not alone. Several of my friends and co-workers who watch General Hospital were equally eager to see what would unfold next. No one was disappointed, and almost everyone agreed that Drew needs to be taken down. Let’s start there with Michael’s long-awaited return. It’s been glorious from the start.

Michael came out swinging and reminded Willow that their children come first — not her fickle heart.

I have loved every single scene that Rory Gibson has been in since his first appearance at the Nurses Ball. He has jumped into Michael’s shoes and taken off running. It’s not often that a recast fits in so seamlessly, but it honestly feels like Rory has been playing Michael for years. He has a natural chemistry with everyone, and his scenes have been fire.

The writing for Michael deserves accolades too. It feels like the writers have heard our complaints about Drew and Willow and they’ve given us someone to dispense the justice that we’ve been asking for. It’s been thrilling to watch, and I have high hopes for the upcoming hearing. Hopes that I didn’t have when Carly was leading the charge to get the kids away from Willow. Michael has proven to be a worthy adversary, and I’m delighted to see that he’s ten steps ahead of Drew.

Not only did Michael wisely secure temporary custody of his children, but he also made prior arrangements to have Amelia picked up and taken to Carly’s mansion. Michael also had Jason on standby to stop Willow and Drew from making a scene when Michael took Wiley home. It was so satisfying to watch that smirk disappear from Drew’s smug face.

Willow is finally coming to the realization that she doesn’t have the upper hand or an inherent right to primary custody of the children simply because she is Wiley and Amelia’s mother. That pleases me immensely. It’s also nice to see someone truly holding her feet to the fire and calling her out for putting her own needs ahead of her children. I applauded Michael for giving Willow an ultimatum because it turns out the kids weren’t as happy with their new living situation as Willow had led everyone to believe.

Kudos to the writers for finally addressing that too.

From the start, Michael has put the kids first. Willow has not. It’s why she was surprised when Michael shared that Wiley had been unhappy living at great-uncle Drew’s house. The fact that Willow had been oblivious to her son’s distress spoke volumes. Drew has dominated her attention, and Michael is done indulging her. “It’s time to choose, Willow. Who do you love more — Drew or our kids?” Michael had asked.

Cold, but necessary. Drew is not a good guy, which Willow would know if she would just open her eyes. Unfortunately, she refuses. For the life of me, I just can’t understand why. As a mother, I wouldn’t hesitate to choose my kids. Every day, all day. From what I can tell, Willow barely considered it. She slid into the passenger seat of Drew’s car looking for a reason to choose him. Drew obliged by painting a bleak picture in which she was alone and vulnerable without him.

An honorable man would have stepped aside.

That brings me to Sasha.

Nina has figured out that Michael is likely the father of Sasha’s unborn child. Nina is certain that she could secure Willow full custody of the children by dropping that little bombshell in court during the divorce hearing. I disagree. As much as Nina would like to pretend otherwise, Michael was not the first to betray his wedding vows. That dishonor belongs to Willow, and Willow alone. Infidelity isn’t about just about sex.

Michael and Willow’s marriage became irrevocably broken when Willow began an emotional affair with her husband’s uncle months prior to her being caught doing the nasty with Drew in the nursery. Drew and Willow had shared two passionate kisses and embraces during that time, as well as confessed their romantic feelings for each other. It was the discovery of that betrayal that had sent a brokenhearted Michael to the bar to drown his sorrows.

Luckily, Nina sees the folly in giving Willow that win in court. As hard as it might be to watch, Nina realizes that it might be best for Willow to lose custody of the children. She hopes it will make Willow see how bad Drew has been for Willow and finally leave him.

Still, Nina could end Willow and Drew in a heartbeat with the revelation that Drew has a dirty secret of his own.

Nina is a coward — and an idiot. I have no idea why she’s been so afraid to tell Willow that Drew was knocking boots with Nina long before he began sniffing around Willow. That reflects badly on Drew not Nina. Nina was unaware that Drew had been stealing kisses with Willow. She learned about that after the affair between Willow and Drew began.

Drew lied to both Nina and Willow. Even if he were to try to accuse Nina of pursuing him, he still shagged Nina while making crazy eyes at Willow. I get that Nina is afraid Willow will be mad because Nina didn’t speak up sooner, but that’s the price she will have to pay to get Willow out of that toxic situation. Once Willow sees Drew for who he really is, she will forgive her mother.

Will Nina tell Ric about Michael and Sasha’s love child? I hope not because Willow is deep in the cult of Drew. She’s going to have to hit rock bottom before she can break free of him and his manipulative ways. And there’s no doubt that Drew has nefarious intentions because we learned during Fridays’ episode that Drew had been talking to Wiley about Michael. What other insidious things has Drew planted in that poor child’s head?

Normally, I would root for parents — even on soaps — to work together, but Willow has been blind to all the red flags floating around Drew’s head. I know what a vile creep he is, so as a viewer I have no desire to see the kids near Drew’s wicked ways.

Michael is no saint, but at least he’s honest. I appreciated that he took responsibility for some of the cracks in his marriage by acknowledging that he had held a part of himself back. Michael had tried to show Willow only the best parts of himself because he thought she was darn near perfect. That’s a big self-own. One that I haven’t seen from Willow. She’s always the victim in her narrative.

The cult of Drew

Willow has exposed Wiley and Amelia to months of instability by bouncing them from one home to another. She’s made selfish choices starting with taking Wiley on an out-of-state trip with her new lover without so much as letting Michael know. She also used a medical proxy as leverage to keep Michael’s family away from him when he was in critical condition. Now, we’ve learned that Wiley has been unhappy at Drew’s house and Willow had no clue. That’s not a mother putting her children first.

I also notice that Willow keeps referring to Wiley and Amelia as “my kids” or “my children” when talking to Michael. Not Michael. He always says, “our kids.”

Until Willow gets away from Drew, I’d rather see Wiley and Amelia with their father.

In other family matters, Gio is reeling. He has learned that his whole life was built on a lie. It’s a gut-punch, but in time, the shock and anger will subside. His musical talent might not have come from Camilla, but she recognized it in him and nurtured it. They might not have shared DNA, but they did share a deep love for the violin. That is the gift she gave him, and nothing can take that away from him.

Once again, our General Hospital scribes delivered soap gold.

Giovanni Mazza has been absolutely incredible since Gio learned the truth about his birth. His scenes with Tracy have been some of my favorite. He held his own with a powerhouse like Jane Elliot and had me ugly crying as Tracy tried to get through to a devasted Gio. Tracy’s reaction to the news that Gio was her great-grandson was everything. Touching, heartbreaking, and beautiful all at once. I saw the exact moment that Tracy fell completely and utterly in love with her great-grandson. The pride in her eyes was unmistakable.

I can’t wait to watch Gio and Tracy forge a bond. It’s going to be wonderful, and Lois will soon see just how wrong she was about the Quartermaines.

Lois infuriated me this week. Her pain meant nothing to me. She wanted absolution, but she showed little remorse except for being caught. She betrayed everyone by putting her own wants and needs first. I say this because all I heard was a bunch of selfish excuses to justify her choices.

What Lois did was wrong. She had no legal right to make decisions about the placement of Brook Lynn’s son. The argument that Lois had feared the baby would end up with the Quartermaines is poppycock because Gio would have gone to Dante if Brook Lynn didn’t want to raise him. Even if the Qs had taken Gio in, they would have loved and protected him. Ned would have made sure of it.

I’m also annoyed that Lois clearly called her mother for reinforcement to pressure Brook Lynn into forgiving her. I hope it backfires, and Brook Lynn gives them both the boot. Lois and Gloria need to spend some time in Bensonhurst reflecting on the error of their ways. They have some nerve judging the Qs when they spent decades lying to Brook Lynn and Gio.

Watching General Hospital this week was such a treat. We got some epic showdowns including the confrontation between Olivia and Lois. It was sooo good, which surprised me a little. I felt worse for Olivia than I did Ned.

Lois insisted that all she did was support Brook Lynn’s decision like any good mother would, but Olivia saw through the lie. “You did what was best for you. You set it up so that you could keep your grandson close and not have to share him with anyone — not even his mother. Shame on you” Olivia spat. Later, Olivia asked the question that many of us have been wondering. “Did you ever even talk to Brook Lynn about the possibility of keeping her baby?” As Olivia pointed out, no one is ever ready to be a mother, especially a scared teen. Lisa LoCicero was brilliant in these scenes.

Naturally, Lois tried to throw Olivia’s teenage pregnancy back at her, but it fell flat. Sonny was a mobster, so it was a matter of safety to keep Dante’s paternity a secret. With Gio, it was about Lois keeping him close.

I love General Hospital, but I have an issue with how fathers are often treated on this show. It’s as if their rights take a back seat to the moms. There are a few exceptions like Sonny and Jason, but pretty much whenever a mother faces a choice with her unborn child, a father doesn’t get a voice. Dante appears to be no exception.

Dante is full of regret because he now realizes what a complete turd he’s been. It’s a bit of a shame that it took learning that Gio was his son for Dante to come to that realization, but he gets a pass right now because I feel so bad for him that he was never given an opportunity to be a part of Gio’s life. As he told Brook Lynn, he never had a choice in the matter because Brook Lynn took it away by not telling him about the pregnancy.

Brook Lynn had every right to decide not to be a mother, but she also had an obligation to be honest with her baby’s father. Dante could have — and likely would have — raised their son as a single father.

Who else hit rewind when Mac stopped by Carly’s house to talk to Michael and Jason about the kidnapping accusations that Drew and Willow had made? I thought I had missed a scene when Mac had seemingly vanished into thin air without explanation only to turn up at the police station with answers for Willow.

Speaking of missed scenes, when exactly did Portia tell Curtis about her plot with Nina to drug Drew? That was a pretty big confession that I would have liked to have seen.

Drew has some nerve. He snatched up Lila’s ring like he was Gollum himself and reminded Willow that he was Lila’s grandson. This is the same grandson who just a few weeks earlier was ready to toss Lila’s coffin out in the street and tear down her final resting place. I hope every dead Quartermaine haunts him.

My dearest readers,

I am finally back from galivanting around Europe, and all caught up on a month’s worth of backlogged soaps. Next week, I will be back at the helm to talk about General Hospital. Not just a weekly update, but why I think General Hospital is the best soap on TV right now.

I wish TV viewers of other soaps realized what they are missing! Port Charles is filled with intriguing plots, exposed secrets (and some still laying in wait) and more interesting storylines than all the other soaps combined. I can hardly wait to get into it.

See you next week! – Tamilu

    I can give Michael credit for taking responsibility, but it made me sad to hear him put himself down the way he did. He may not be a saint, but heโ€™s a much better person than he gives himself credit for.

    I still remember the scene when Willow learned that her son had died and she was at his gravesite crying and it was Elizabeth that held her. All I could think back then was I really hope this girl gets some help, because she really needs it. But for the past five years, you could argue that her presence on this show has been a culmination of her own bad decisions and bad decisions people have made for her/on her behalf. However through most of that, she still retained some common sense and empathy. Over the past year she has completely lost that and I don’t even know how she gets that back at this point, or even to a point where the viewers would feel anything for her. I would not be surprised if she is headed to some type of eventual breakdown.

    Has Nina ever just come out and told Willow that she hates Drew and doesn’t think she should be with him? She is always dancing around it to somewhat stay in Willow’s good graces but I wonder if she would have just come out and say those words if it would have mattered. I’m assuming the truth about Sasha and Michael is going to come out this week, but I hope Nina sticks to her original plan and doesn’t tell Ric. Nina needs to remember that Sasha and Cody know about her relationship with Drew and that’s not including Curtis, Maxie, Tracy and Ned who also know. It’s possible Ava could tell Ric but I’m not sure Ava knows how many people are already aware about Drew and Nina. Carly could also expose that Nina was involved with drugging Drew but the only thing that would save her is Carly doesn’t actually have proof of that.

      Interesting points on Willow. I find myself often wondering where things are going with this character. She obviously needs counseling and to take some time to figure out what her problem is. But soaps don’t often take time to do that. And for what end? What would you do with her after that.

      We also know Willow is great at avoiding responsibility for things, and there are two big things that are going to give her excuses to keep doing that. 1. That Michael fathered Sasha’s baby is going to feed into her story about how their marriage was flawed before she started her affair with Drew and 2. When she sees Drew for who he really is, everything is going to be his fault, and Willow will be his innocent victim. So I’m not optimistic this character is going to be turned around. Because of the kids, she’s not just going to move out of town. The options after that are killing her off, sending her to prison or incapacitating her either physically or mentally.

      As for Nina, we totally know she’s going to tell on Sasha. It’s like the SEC thing with Carly–she won’t be able to help herself. Nothing is more important to her than sucking up to Willow. Before this week, I was more sympathetic to her being in a bind. If she takes too hard of stand on Drew, Willow is going to shut her out. Which is great for Drew because he wants–needs–for Willow to be as isolated as possible. Even telling Willow about Nina’s affair with Drew is risky at this stage. Drew can spin pretty much everything, and Nina could end up on the outside as the bad guy who tried to break them up.

      But, no, that’s not what Nina is keeping her mouth shut. It was clear from her conversation with Maxie that her actions are just self preservation. Not strategic thinking about what is best for her daughter. Can’t wait for that to blow up in her face.

    Hey Liz! Thanks for the Shout Out! I miss those on the “old” site.
    Howdy Folks!!
    My Random Thoughts, jotted down as I viewed.
    Isn’t it About Time May Sweeps acted like May Sweeps??
    However.
    Why does BLQ look like Liberace’s Penguin?
    And it looks as if Lois and Trina had the same Tearless Crying Soap Coach!!
    Geez Louise.
    ~~~
    “The Role of Michael Corinthos is now being played by [a Fellow who looks like he really could be AJ’s Son!!]…!”
    NuMikey is cuuuuute!! Sasha seems to think so, too.
    Cannot wait to see him up against his Slimeball Uncle.
    ~~~
    It’s nice they let Amelia out of the Attic.
    Maybe Leo will make an appearance before he starts College.
    ~~~~
    Once again, Jane Elliot was Brilliant!
    The scenes with Tracy and Gio and The Anti-Emma were terrific.
    Tracy (well, Jane) really knows how to Tug at my Heart Strings.
    Who else can make me laugh and cry in the time span of about Five Seconds?
    ~~~
    Not to be nasty or anything, but ShrewLu really looked like a Hag when she was sitting on the porch lamenting to Cody.
    It must be the Lighting, or the Personality.
    And that Beer in her hand was Real Classy, especially for a Broad who recently had a Liver Transplant.
    Duh.
    The Awful Red Lipstick doesn’t suit her complexion, and her Personality is Just Awful.
    Can ShrewLu slip back into her Coma now, please?
    She can come back as Original Recipe Lulu (JMB) and everyone would be better off.
    *Editor’s Note: I noticed several scenes later ShrewLu suddenly had a different, lighter shade lipstick, while never moving off the porch.
    The Beer must have washed it off.
    ~~~
    Omg. Do we HAVE to be subjected to Trina’s Chicken Peck Kissing AGAIN???
    Talk about a Snooze Fest!!
    Oh, come now. Ninny is Clever, but she’s not clever enough to figure out that Sasha and Mikey Bumped Uglies and Sasha is now carrying his Spawn?
    Or is she.
    I still say she should ::Confess:: her Rug Rash Anger Sessions with EwDrew to Brillo.
    Funny how Ninny’s pic of NuMikey is a publicity shot at the Ball. When the heck would NuMikey have had his pic taken, let alone pose for one?
    Sooooo….is Brillo going to mention her trip to Germany to Mikey?
    I sure hope she does.
    Well Thursday we got treated to not One, but Two Readings of the Riot Act, first Dante to ShrewLu, and then NuMikey to Brillo!
    More, please!
    Perhaps Brillo will Drop Drew after all?
    But, no.
    Willow, after a brief conversation with Shiloh, oops I mean EwDrew, suddenly reverts to Stepford Wife Mode,
    Oh, and EwDrew is keeping Lila’s Ring??
    I cannot wait to hear what Tracy has to say about that!!
    And what ever happened with that Vial of “Vitamins” (sure, Willow, these are Vitamins you IDIOT) that EwDrew had planted in Tracy’s car?
    Evidently Porthole told Curtis about the Ketamine and the Prostitute Scheme, and he knows Drew set Tracy up, but do the PCPD Clown Squad know?
    Or have they forgotten already.
    ~~~~
    Gio and the Anti-Emma were Real Cute on the Famous Footbridge and everything, but I can’t help but notice how low that railing is.
    I’m surprised more people don’t fall Headfirst into The Abyss Below.
    I was a bit relieved when they decided to leave.
    Perhaps Drillow will decide to visit the Footbridge, where they can BOTH Plunge Headlong into the Abyss!!
    Wouldn’t that be Delightful!!
    Ah, EwDrew would probably survive and find some way to blame Tracy and Jason.
    ~~~
    In case anyone was wondering, or even cares, ShrewLu STILL hasn’t made the Opening Credits!!
    I find that Fairly Amusing.
    ~~~
    Speaking of Amusing.
    NutKrissy to Lucky: “Thank you…for Believing that I NEVER intended to kill anyone!”
    Yeah, right.
    Except for Ava!!!
    Talk about Delusional.

    I would LOVE IT if Ric would bring ME Yogurt Parfait and Dragon Juice!!
    They both looked Wonderful.
    And, Slic Ric is Fairly Easy on the Eyes as well.

  4. JDF

    Good catch Liz, I noticed that Willow always says “MY” children, kind of like how Nina always says “MY” daughter, but didn’t realize that Michael always says “our’ children.

  5. JDF

    Willow tells Drew that Michael won’t let her see the kids unless she breaks up with Drew. Drew’s response is “well, that’s never going to happen”. That’s supporting your woman Drew!! Then when Willow takes off Lila’s ring, Drew says that he has as much right to it as Michael. No Drew, it belongs to Monica, Alan gave it to her! I think that shows where Drew’s mind and prorities are.

    I like new Michael. He’s a little young, especially since there are characters in his orbit that had been SORASED along with him over the years and played by older actors but he definitely comes off as “older” than his actual age. In my opinion, a better actor as well. He is a more mature Michael.

    I always thought it was really dumb for Sasha to ask Jason to pretend to be her baby’s father and that has been proven with Nina some how miraculously putting it all together. However, I don’t see how one drunken night together with Sasha after finding out that Willow betrayed him is going to give her sole custody after months of her public affair with Drew. It’s like it only matters when Michael does something wrong but Willow thinks she has a life time get of jail free card.

    • Kathie

      I see two potential problems with the Sasha’s baby for Michael’s custody situation. The biggie is that Michael has a child on the way that he outwardly does not appear to be taking responsibility for. To a judge, that could make him look like a flaky parent.

      The other would be if Diane bases her whole case on Willow’s infidelity. That doesn’t work if Michael knocked up another woman. I’d be surprised if she goes that route though. First of all, Diane is aware Michael got Sasha pregnant isn’t she? I seem to recall either Michael or Jason (maybe both) discussed it with her around the time of the fire. So a smart lawyer would not focus on the infidelity but make her case about who Willow was unfaithful with. It may be very foolish for Nina to throw Sasha under the bus when Sasha is also aware of Nina’s affair with Drew–a point Nina didn’t seem to think of when weighing her pros and cons. We could very well have dueling courtroom reveals. I also think if they get Drew up on the stand and push his buttons, his nasty side will emerge in quick order.

  6. I believe that Nina has decided to keep her suspicion that Sasha is pregnant with Michaelโ€™s child out of the courtroom to give Michael a better chance at full custody. She sees it as the only way to get Drew out of Willowโ€™s life. HOWEVER, she told Ava who will tell Ric to help him win his case! I hope Sasha turns the table by revealing that Nina was having sex with Drew while also sneaking kisses with Willow. Hopefully, that will counteract the supposed baby theory she has.

  7. Kathie

    Question for viewers who pay better attention than I do: Has GH specified how Gio’s mother died? Or when? I thought Lois was saying it was around the time Sonny found out Dante was his son. Which was 15 years ago!

    I like Gio’s mom I think. She raised a great kid. Everything Gio has ever said about her is good. One thing that makes me uncomfortable about people like Tracy and Olivia questioning whether or not Lois pressured Brooklyn into giving her baby up is the idea that the adoption was a mistake. I don’t like that. Adoption is a generous act all around. Sure, every new parent is scared and most step up and do a good job. But not everyone is able to, and I have no problem with Brooklyn realizing her limitations and wanting her baby to have a better life than she thought she could give him. I don’t disagree that Dante should have been given a chance to raise the boy or agree to the adoption. But when there were no ideal options, Gio went to a woman who loved him and was a great parent. It’s hard to argue that worked out badly.

    However, the lying was not a good choice, and I’m afraid Camilla shares some of the blame in that. If she died when Gio was quite young, I can understand why she had withheld certain information he would not have been able to process. I can also understand better if she died suddenly. If she died of a slower moving illness, well, I don’t get why she would keep quiet if she knew her son would functionally become an orphan in short order.

  8. Humor Me

    Dear Liz – wonderful column! You paint Nina too nicely for my tastes.

    Nina has demonstrated in her scenes with Ava as her listening post that she can hold true affections for someone other than her blood relative and yet be as selfish as she always has been.
    She demonstrated that she was willing to put Sasha’s needs over those of her own daughter.
    Sasha’s deserves happiness – everyone knows this and NIna was aware of this. She could not hurt or see Sasha hurt in front of everyone.
    Yet NIna was willing to allow her daughter who desperately fears losing her children to experience that very event IF it meant she would leave Drew Cain. And yet NIna is unwilling to share the fact that she, willow and Drew were in a triangle for a few months because Willow could take it the wrong way and leave NIna in the dust, again.
    Carl spoke the truth – a mother is willing to sacrifice herself to ensure her child is happy and safe. Nina is not willing to do that for fear she loses the relationship she covets. Yep – NIna has demonstrated that she is willing to see her own flesh and blood daughter suffer rather than endure rejection at Willow’s hands from learning the truth of her and Drew. NIna is – at this moment in time – placing Sasha’s needs ahead of Willow. Because she is afraid of the truth and the way Willow will see her actions. Nina has not changed one bit since she rolled into PC, and that is sad.

    I really didn’t think I could accept anyone other than chad duell as Michael, but I was dead wrong. From the second Rory stepped into the role, I was very impressed. I’m very quickly loving Rory more and more. I loved chad in the role very much, but Rory is killing it.

    • Liz Masters

      Me too! I love Rory in the role.

  10. JDF

    I have to give credit to CM in that scene with Willow when she takes off Lila’s ring. For that split scecond when the ring comes off and he reaches for it, you can see that the ring is the only thing on his mind and it’s like Willow is not even there.

  11. JDF

    Liz Masters, I loved your “Gollum” reference about Drew and the ring. Drew looked like he was going to say “my precious”.

  12. JBJ

    I am going to be the Devil’s Advocate regarding Lois, or at least give her some grace. I believe that Lois genuinely thought she was threading the needle of compromise between what Brooklyn said she wanted at 15/16 years old and what she and Gloria wanted for their grandchild. BLQ didn’t want to know who adopted her child, and she didn’t! They wanted to be a part of his life, so they satisfied the letter of BLQ’s intent: good family, lots of love. Dante was a hoodlum in training, which is why he had been sent to the camp in the first place. So, I am very cynical about claims that he could have handled raising the child himself.

    That said, I do think that Lois & Gloria dropped the ball by not telling at least BLQ the truth when Camila died. At that point, it would have given Brooklynn time to decide what to share with Dante and what kind of relationship they would like to have with their son, without necessarily adding fresh trauma to Gio’s life. Then, once they felt Gio was ready, they could share the truth together. Quite frankly, telling him at 16 might have even helped Gio grasp how not ready they were to be parents, but their presence in his life would prove that they truly cared.

    I also grasp Lois’s concerns about the Quartermaine influence. She literally fled Port Charles with Brooklynn to shield her from their drama! Olivia has no leg to stand on, because not only did she keep Dante’s paternity a secret (since Sonny was a low-rent hoodlum who was in love with Connie Falconeri, not because Dante could be weaponized against a capo), she actually dated Sonny as an adult knowing that it was even more important than ever to protect her son’s safety! Sonny shot Dante in the chest because he’s a vindictive criminal, not because she kept a secret. I can completely understand Lois wanting to take advantage of the benefits of Gio’s familial connections without the drama.

  13. JBJ

    I’m not a parent, but I was 30 when I discovered (from someone else) that my mom gave up a child when she was in college. She never talks about it (around it sometimes, maybe, if I listen), but it definitely haunts her artwork. Her late aunt, to whom she was shipped to hide the pregnancy, apparently kept track of him for years without her knowledge, and I keep expecting a random familial match on Ancestry. It’s weird watching this play out on screen with her sitting in the chair next to me. So, again, I would like to give Brooklynn, Lois & Gloria some grace for trying to make the best out of an incredibly fraught situation.

  14. JBJ

    And lastly (I promise๐Ÿ˜‡), I hope that once Gio has fully processed the truth, he feels blessed that this crazy crew embraced and loved him for him, without knowing just how close they really were. Tracy once affectionately called him family while simultaneously trashing her nephew Drew! I hope that one of them gifts him a new violin, with the reminder that Camila loved him with her entire being and that they do, too!

  15. Evaine

    As an adoptee myself, with my birth mother being my mom’s youngest sister, I just wish they’d all recognise that Camilla is Gio’s mom and will always be Gio’s mom. I always knew I was adopted but not who my birth parents were. My Mom and Dad were that couple who adopted me, always and forever.

    • Kelly B

      Iโ€™m also a adoptee and I feel exactly the same way. I met my birth family when I was 30 and theyโ€™ve been in and out of my life for 30 years. Though Iโ€™m glad theyโ€™ve been a part of my life; my mom and dad will always be the parents who loved and raised me from infancy.

  16. Ryan

    Liz, I was looking at the message boards and Iโ€™m curious what you think about a couple of things Iโ€™ve read on there:
    1. Some people point out that Michael has done far worse things than willow (like covering for his familyโ€™s crimes), so willow should get the kids.
    2. Some people think that Michael is in Sonnyโ€™s cult when it comes to his loyalty to Sonny. Basically, the argument is that while willow may be in a cult led by drew, then Michael is in a cult led by Sonny.
    What is your response?

    Good column.

    I’d like to take a minute to express how disgusted I am with Alexis. She’s risking her freedom, her law license, her practice & potentially her friendship with Diane. All to protect Kristina who is mentally unstable and impulsive. Alexis has been a long time favorite but this storyline is not sympathetic. She protects Kristina perhaps because she sees the same self destruction in Kristina that she also has.
