It was all about the daddy drama this week as Michael and Willow battled for custody of the children, while Drew sank to new depths to ensure there wouldn’t be a last-minute compromise. Has Drew reached the point of no return? Meanwhile, Lucky said goodbye to Port Charles and took Aiden on a father/son trip to Europe, but was it too little too late? Let’s discuss in a new General Hospital commentary for the week ending June 13, 2025.
Yikes, it was an intense week. There was lots of friction between Michael and Willow, Lucky bid farewell to Port Charles and Sonny’s trouble with an ambitious ADA heated up. Let’s kick things off with the courtroom decision that had General Hospital viewers on the edge of our seats.
The verdict is in — and it was glorious
Our wonderful General Hospital scribes delivered big time when Michael was rightfully granted custody of the children. I couldn’t have been happier. Did I hear the collective whoops of joy from viewers across the land as the judge rendered her verdict? Yes. Yes, I did, and you can’t convince me otherwise. 😉
I felt no pity for Willow. None. In fact, her over-the-top meltdown was exceedingly satisfying to watch. Maybe it will serve as the wake-up call she so desperately needs to see how detrimental Drew’s presence has been to her once happy life. The kids belong with Michael right now because Willow has been sucked into the cult of Drew. I’m fully aware that Michael was just caught in a blast meant for his father, but Willow had no problem with the dangers of Sonny when she was Michael’s wife and growing their family. That only became an issue when she got the hots for Drew.
Nina has no room to talk either given her marriage to Sonny and her own sordid history with violent criminal behavior.
Drew is no better. Remember how Cameron nearly had his brains scrambled by Shiloh because Shiloh wanted to unlock Drew’s memories? That’s when Drew was a good guy. These days, he’s most definitely not. He has no qualms psychologically abusing children for his own ends, so I don’t want him around any children, including poor Scout.
Willow snaps like a twig at General Hospital
If someone had told had me that one of my children had overheard my significant other — or anyone else — say something absolutely horrible and blatantly untrue, I would have gone straight to my child and had a conversation with them. I certainly wouldn’t dismiss what they had said out of hand or downplay their truth before that conversation. Willow did. She just brushed the claim off as a misunderstanding or a lie fabricated by Michael.
Why would Michael make something like that up when it could be easily be disproven by Wiley? Does Willow think Wiley would lie to her? If so, that says quite about bit about how detached she’s become from her son.
Time and again, Willow has shown herself to be out of touch with her own children. Her head is so far up Drew’s — ahem — business, that she doesn’t even see how unhappy Wiley and Amelia are. And they are unhappy. Not only has Wiley confirmed this during conversations with Michael, but we also know that Drew has been putting insidious thoughts in Wiley’s head to undermine his relationship with Michael for some time. It stands to reason that he would do the same to Amelia.
Willow’s pain doesn’t move me
In so many ways, Willow is following Harmony’s lead, and she seems blind to it. Harmony lived and breathed for Shiloh. She put him above everyone, including Willow.
I don’t doubt that Willow loves Wiley and Amelia, but she clearly loves Drew more. How do I know that? When it mattered most, she couldn’t tell the judge that she would choose her children over Drew. It was an easy question to answer, but Willow couldn’t do it. She’s never been in a good mental headspace, which is one of the reasons that her relationships have ended badly and she’s made destructive choices like hiding her cancer diagnosis. Heck, when she first settled in Port Charles, she low-key stalked Lucas and Brad when she realized they had adopted her son Jonah. She even found a way to insinuate herself into their lives.
Will the verdict be a catalyst for a complete breakdown? It’s a soap, and the signs certainly seem to point to it. She’s been living in a delusional fantasy of Drew’s making for months, and now reality has cruelly shattered it. I would love for the writers to take Willow to the edge and shove her over by having her plunge a knife into Drew’s black heart.
We don’t have to see it happen. Let a good murder mystery unfold to leave the audience guessing for a bit.
Drew. Must. Die.
It’s time to put an end to this version of Drew. He’s taken the same path as Peter August and become completely unlikeable. This is not the heroic man of honor he was prior to his stint in Pentonville nor is he a villain with some redeeming qualities. He’s completely dark and broken. Is he Shiloh? Was his brain mapping triggered? Let’s get to the bottom of it because one thing is for certain, it has dragged on for far too long. We need an explanation for this dramatic shift in Drew.
To say that Drew is vile and beyond despicable would be an understatement. He’s utterly evil. This custody fight was never about helping Willow keep her children. It was about taking the children away from Michael. Willow and the children are just a means to an end and that end is revenge. But revenge for what? It’s not Michael’s decision to snatch Aurora Media away from Drew. This started before that happened. I also don’t buy the narrative that Drew is still miffed because Michael didn’t tell Drew that Nina had ratted Drew out to the SEC. This feels far more personal than that.
It always comes back to Shiloh
Shiloh was obsessed with Willow, and he despised Michael. Shiloh was also married to Nelle and their unholy union had been borne of hatred and vengeance for the perceived wrongs done by Willow and Michael. It wouldn’t be a big stretch for Shiloh to see Wiley as a replacement for Jonah, especially since Willow is now legally Wiley’s mother. Yes, Shiloh is dead, but any soap viewer can tell you that no one is ever truly dead. We will get to that later.
It also hasn’t escaped my notice that Shiloh’s name has been dropped several times in recent weeks. On soaps, that might be considered foreshadowing.
How far would Drew go?
There’s been lots of speculation that Drew was responsible for the firebomb. Until recently I had dismissed it because I couldn’t conceive that the man I once knew to take a bullet for his loved ones would stoop so low as to murder Sonny in such a reckless way. What if Avery or Donna had been there?
That was before I saw Drew do one horrible thing after another to tear Michael down and steal his kids from him.
The man who proposed weaponizing the medical proxy, who threatened to tear down the final resting place of his own family, who has been filling poor Wiley’s head with awful thoughts about Michael, who ruthlessly blackmailed Portia and aligned himself with Ezra Boyle and Jenz Sidwell is perfectly capable of removing an enemy with a bomb. That goes double if that man was secretly Shiloh.
Nina doesn’t get a free pass either
I tried really hard to give Nina the benefit of the doubt that she truly wanted what was best for her grandchildren, but her stunt with Ric proved that she only really cares about herself. Throwing Sasha under the bus to secure a custody win for Willow wasn’t about the children. It was about placating her idiot daughter, while keeping her own dirty secrets deeply buried.
Nina has always had the power to end Drew and Willow’s affair with the revelation that Drew had been shagging her, while seducing Willow. However, Nina’s fear of being cut off from Willow was greater than her desire to safeguard her daughter and grandchildren from Drew’s machinations. I hope Nina pays a high price for that because her cowardice helped set all of this into motion.
Willow certainly made her own choices, but she might have made different ones if Nina had been honest from the very start. I would rather my daughter stop talking to me than see her lose everything she held dear.
Lucky dips out — again
Liz extended a Get-Out-Of-Port-Charles-Free card and Lucky seized it. He couldn’t say his goodbyes fast enough. He even gave his pal Isaiah a cabin in the woods that once belonged to Luke, suggesting that Lucky has no plans on ever returning. As the sun set on Port Charles, Lucky jetted off to Europe with Aiden in tow, wrapping up Jonathan Jackson’s stint on General Hospital.
I wrote months ago that it felt like Lucky and Liz were in two different places in life. Turns out, Liz agreed. Lucky was in Port Charles for a good time not a long time. This is exactly why I didn’t bother getting invested in their rekindled romance. The writing had been on the wall from the beginning that the writers had no idea what do with Lucky That’s never a good sign for longevity.
It’s such a missed opportunity. I really wish the writers had used these precious months with Jonathan Jackson to have Lucky make amends to Aiden for being a deadbeat father. I wanted to see him put in the work and build a solid bond with his son rather than spend months trying to recapture a past that was long gone. Aiden seemed like an afterthought, which was unfair. Aiden deserved better, and so did Jonathan Jackson.
I’m sorry, but a summer trip around Europe doesn’t make up for 15 years of broken promises, sporadic video calls and infrequent visits. It’s insulting to suggest it does.
Kristina the succubus strikes again
Kristina hatched a plan to pay Cody to seduce Ava away from Ric. She seems to think her legal problems — and Alexis’ embezzlement — will magically disappear if Ava and Ric are no longer a united front. Kristina is a moron. So is Alexis for going along with this ridiculous plan.
Whether Ava and Ric are together or not, both will continue to blackmail Alexis. It’s in their financial interests to do so. Even if Ric has a change of heart Ava won’t. She’s not the type to get out while she’s ahead. She’s greedy and spiteful. If the money runs out, Ava will happily follow through on her threat to turn over the evidence against Kristina.
I don’t understand how Alexis doesn’t recognize that she is on borrowed time. Instead of letting Kristina be an adult and mounting a viable legal defense of temporary insanity, she has opted to give into blackmail. It’s so stupid.
At this rate, Molly will be raising Scout, which might not be a bad thing.
The blame game
I love Brook Lynn, but I hate how she is continually focused on the wrong things. Right now, she should be trying to figure out a way to help Gio get past the shock of learning that he was lied to by all the important people in his life. Instead of creating a circle of trust for her newfound son, she’s all about revenge and trying to hurt Lulu for exposing the deep dark secret.
I keep wondering. What if Brook Lynn and Lulu’s roles had been reversed? Would Brook Lynn have done anything different? No, she wouldn’t have. Brook Lynn would have wanted Dante to know about Gio because her loyalty is to Dante not Lulu. The truth is, Brook Lynn and Lulu are two sides of the same coin. Dante definitely has a type.
It was painful to watch Maxie’s valiant attempt to broker a truce between her besties because there was never any hope of it actually succeeding. For Brook Lynn, the wounds are still too fresh. For Lulu, it’s about Dante and his rights. Brook Lynn and Lulu will need a unifying event — something that shakes them both to the core and forces them to work together — to cut through the animosity. Maxie should know that since it took similar circumstances for Maxie and Brook Lynn to become friends.
General Hospital Quick Takes
I was heartbroken to see the news about Chris Robinson’s (Rick Webber) passing. There was a time that the love triangle between Dr. Lesley Webber (Denise Alexander), Dr. Rick Webber, and Dr. Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) dominated General Hospital and watercooler talk. Now, all three brilliant actors have left us within months of each other. It’s truly an end of an era. 😢
On a lighter note, news broke that Erika Slezak has joined the cast of General Hospital. Will she reprise her role as One Life to Live’s Victoria Lord Buchanan, owner of the Banner where Lulu Spencer just landed a job? I’m excited to see what’s ahead.
Will we have a miraculous return frpm the dead? Kelly Thiebaud is also on her way back to General Hospital! It’s unclear if she will be playing Britt Westbourne or a new character. Is that where Liesl Obrecht has been? Did Liesl reach out to Scott Baldwin for help? Has Mutter been off curing her beloved Tochter of Huntington’s Disease — or searching for her long-lost twin? There are so many wonderful soapy possibilities, and I can’t wait to see this storyline unfold.
Is this the end of the road for Natalia? Natalia was arrested for driving under the influence, which ADA Turner quickly used to her advantage. Turner threatened Natalia with five years behind bars unless Natalia gave Turner the goods on Sonny. When Natalia told Sonny, he offered to whisk her out of the country and set her up in the lap of luxury for the rest of her life. In exchange, Natalia would have to leave all her loved ones behind. For those keeping track, that’s her son Marco who barely tolerates her.
What General Hospital viewers are saying
We love reading what other fans have to say about the show, so please scroll down to the Comments section and share your thoughts. It’s at the bottom of this (and every) column.
Michael versus Willow
“I still remember the scene when Willow learned that her son had died and she was at his gravesite crying and it was Elizabeth that held her. All I could think back then was I really hope this girl gets some help, because she really needs it. But for the past five years, you could argue that her presence on this show has been a culmination of her own bad decisions and bad decisions people have made for her/on her behalf. However, through most of that, she still retained some common sense and empathy. Over the past year she has completely lost that, and I don’t even know how she gets that back at this point, or even to a point where the viewers would feel anything for her. I would not be surprised if she is headed to some type of eventual breakdown.” — Brittany

Kristina hatches another ill-fated scheme
A few more things before we go
A special shoutout to all the dads reading this. I hope you have a wonderful Father’s Day.
If you watch soaps other than General Hospital, please check out Dan’s latest Beyond the Gates commentary, Skankaroni and poison apples. And since we want to support the newest soap, please spread the word that Dan is back to writing about soaps.
If you are just a GH viewer, Tamilu has returned from traveling the planet and she wrote a new GH column last week. You can read that here.
Happy viewing,
Liz

You were spot on this week. The one thing I will add is that while I agree that Nina being a coward set this all into motion, I also think her hatred for Carly and Michael is part of why she kept her mouth shut. I was disgusted with Nina’s smug attitude last week when she said on the stand that Michael wants to punish willow for falling out of love with him. Then, she had the gall to imply this week that Michael is as responsible for all of this as drew is.
I wouldn’t say that Nina is a coward. It’s just Nina putting Nina first, just like “her daughter” puts herself first.
I definitely think that Nina’s decision to not tell Willow about her affair with Drew while he was wooing Willow falls along the same pattern of behavior as keeping “Mike” secret.
The judge actually made the best case for awarding custody to Michael rather than Willow and it was GLORIOUS, because she basically said that Willow is not a good mother. The judge made a better case for Michael than Diane and brought up Drews’ custody agreement which Diane did not.
Willow subsequest melt down showed that she is an unstable nut job. So what’s next for Willow? Will she go to the dark side” Will she become Nelle?
Actually, Diane DID bring up Willow giving guardianship of her kids to Drew if something were to happen to her. When Michael was testifying, Diane asked him if he was aware that Willow had filed that paperwork to that effect. Michael said he did not know about it.
Diane acknowledged it with Michael, but she should have questioned Willow about it. Willow should have been forced to justify *her* logic, since Michael was not dying, and she had any number of closer family members to select for temporary guardianship should anything happen to her before he returned, including her own mother. Moreover, Drew was actively engaged in public battles with his & Michael’s family, so if the guardianship had ever been triggered, there was a good chance that Drew would isolate Wiley & Amelia from the rest of their family, like he’s been doing with Scout.
Agree. I don’t think Diane was at her best during this hearing. She SHOULD have questioned Willow about giving Drew guardianship of her children to him should something happen to her.
Willow is obviously not a likeable character right now, but I am curious to see where everything is going for her. The next time we see her, will she have seen the light as to what Drew is costing her and dump him? Or is she going to go further into the crazy?
I kind of expect the second option. For one thing, she didn’t seem to get what the judge said about her neglecting her children’s wellbeing. So I’m not sure that sunk in enough to result in the necessary reflection to do better.
For another, if Willow just ends things with Drew because of the custody case, we will be cheated out of the payoff of having her see him for who he really is. I want her to find out he was banging her mother, that he interfered with her attempt to visit Michael in Germany, that he’s been filling Wiley’s head with cruel lies. Those are the reasons she should dump him not something practical.
And here’s a question: would an unstable Willow acting as a spoiler for Michael-Sasha be a better use of the character in the near term than straightening her out? Maybe because I don’t see who there is on the canvas to pair Willow with once she and Drew are finished. Of course, you push Willow much farther and her days are numbered. I’m not sure if that’s a problem or not.
Does it seem like Lucky’s been wearing the same wardrobe for the last twenty years.. or longer?
I find it impossible to have any empathy for Kristina and she (Lexi) used to be one of my favorites.
How low can Drew go? When Ric thinks you’ve gone too far… that is LOW!
I’ve come to the conclusion that there isn’t any hope for Cody. He’s a born loser and the writers clearly don’t know what to do with him.
You know, right!? When the guy who had just told a woman in labor to “cut the theatrics” finds your manipulation of a child off-putting, you might be a legit villain.
How can Natalia possibly know where the money for Sonny’s Deception investment came from? She never worked for Sonny and has no access to his financials which would be necessary to trace the money and she is not a forensic accountant. It ticks me off when the writers basically ask the viewers to be stupid.
Is this just another weak story line or are they planning something else? Why and where was Natalia driving her car when she lives in the Metro Court? Are they planning Natalias’ departure from GH? If so, why go to all this trouble and having Sonny offering to send her to Belize? TPTB disappear characters like the Chinese government, poof they’re gone, and no explanation for the viewers.
I can’t remember when I’ve enjoyed a scene on GH as much as I enjoyed watching the judge dress down Willow.
This Week on “Lying Liars Who Lie”
Did EwDrew just say, out loud, so Wiley could hear, “Now that Michael’s got the New Baby, he doesn’t WANT WileyWileyWiley and Amelia any more!!”
If anyone should have been Struck by Lightning at that moment,
EwDrew Must Die.
Even Peter August (Heiney) would never be so Cruel!!
Even Slic Ric thinks it’s awful.
And the look on NuMikey’s Face when Wiley said, “You don’t want Me and Amelia any more!”
Sonoma Beech.
And of course Brillo believed EwDrew when he told her he “Would NEVER do something Like That!”
Ew Drew Must Die.
They need to get Wiley on the stand.
And Brillo needs a Few Months in Shady Brook.
~~~
Ah, then there’s NutKrissy stalking Ava at the MCPool.
Of COURSE Ava would leave her Oprah Sunglasses behind.
Isn’t that how Brand-X got killed??
Returning someone’s Sunglasses?
Abandoned Sunglasses are Dangerous!!
Of COURSE Cooty would be Stupid Enough to go along with NutKrissy’s Scheme.
Because We Can’t Have Nice Things.
~~~~
Ok, Liz, Lucky said Good-Bye cuz you told him to.
Next?
Lucky Sez “Buh-Bye” to ShrewLu, and ShrewLu, predictably, Sez, “But I didn’t MEAN to Hurt anyone!”
Oh, then Lucky goes back to GH to give a Cabin to Isaiah, because Aiden didn’t want it.
So give it to Lulu to live in,
I’m sure by this time Everyone would be happier if ShrewLu went to live in a Cabin In The Woods.
Even better would be if ShrewLu were to slip Back into that Coma of hers.
~~~
Smarty’s Back!
I’m looking forward to More Shenanigans with Tracy.
~~~
Why didn’t Diane question Mikey on the stand about Germany?
~~~~
Well I certainly was Pleasantly Surprised at the Judge’s Ruling.
Even Ninny looked Outwardly Pleased for a Brief Moment there..
Weeping Willow just looked stunned.
Until she Totally Lost It.
Good.
You know what I could do with less of?
Ew Drew and his Wildly Flapping Giant Hands and his Beady Bug Eyes.
It’s really creepy and annoying.
He’s got these Tiny Little Round Rat Eyes and then he BUGS them out while Wildly Gesturing with his Giant Thin Fingered Hands.
He really is like one of those Used Car Lot Blow Up Wavy Men.
Too bad Brillo is such a Moron.
Maybe she and NutKrissy can be Room Mates at Shady Brook.
~~~
So. Anna wants to know why ADA Tuner took Molly’s Recused DWI case??
Stupid Spy Anna Strikes Again!!
She KNOWS Natalia and Sonny were In Cahoots, she KNOWS ADA Turner is after Sonny.
What’s to Figure Out?
Duh.
Speaking of “Duh”.
EwDrew whining to Tad, er, Marty about the Judge’s Decision.
Honestly, I’m hoping a Giant Anvil falls from The Great Beyond and lands right on top of EwDrew and flattens him like the Wile E Coyote he is.
Actually, Wile E. Coyote has Way More Integrity than Congressman EwDrew.
But I Digress.
~~~
And WHY is Dante being such an Insufferable Tool to Chase??
Oh, right, because He’s a Man and He Can.
Chase respected his Wife’s Wishes, and Dante should respect that.
~~~
Maxi looks TERRIFIC!!
Lulu needs to Shaddap.
When ShrewLu kept going on to Maxi how it was practically her DUTY to tell Dante BLQ’s Secret, I was hoping Maxi would Knock her into Next Week.
I know I wanted to.
Especially after she refused to apologize to BLQ.
Obviously, the writers are not finished with Drew. We STILL have to wait for Willow to find out about her mother and Drew, how Drew paid the person at the burn center in Germany to tell Willow that Michael refused to see her AND that Wiley DID overhear Drew say exactly what Michael told her he did. Plus, there’s Drew framing Tracy for drugging him knowing it was Nina and Portia, blackmailing Portia over altering Heather’s test results, AND this stupid business of the esplanade. Get it over with already! If they want to keep Cameron Matheson, then kill him off and find out it was really Shiloh. Bring the real Drew back so he can be redeemed. The real Drew would never have seduced his nephew’s wife.
Good column.
It feels like Lulu is getting off lightly for doing a horrible thing to Gio. This was all about punishing BrookeLynn. She needs to be held accountable.
I have no sympathy for Alexis enabling Kristina’s worst angels.I’d like Kristina to go away for a while to deal with the loss of her & Molly’s baby. Looking forward to the blowout when Diane finds out. I hope it’s epic because Alexis deserves it.
Drew gotta go. That’s it. Buh bye
Lucky was wasted on his return. Very disappointing.
Oh, and I love the new Michael.
I must be the only one that doesn’t care for the new Michael. He mumbles a lot and I can’t understand what he’s saying.
My favorite thing from the week: I did not know that Wiley’s middle name was Alan. I have two comments. 1. Awww and 2. Take that Carly, Sonny and Jason. It does not appear that Michael has given any of his three kids their names (Daisy’s middle name is maybe pending). So, ha!
I think one of the reasons GH has been really satisfying lately is it is giving viewers the payoffs we’ve been waiting for. Having the judge call Willow out for all the things viewers have been thinking (and saying on the internet) was fantastic. Before it was Lois. Lulu too though that one is more open for debate. Natalia’s on her way out. Next up has got to be Drew.
The one I can’t figure out what to root for is the Kristina/Ava/Ric/Alexis mess. Those people are all awful—well, maybe Alexis isn’t awful but she’s being so stupid right now, it’s ridiculous. I can’t for the life of me figure out why she hasn’t gone to Sonny for help rather than steal from her toddler grand nephew. And shut up about the car already. That is useless for evidence in a court case now that it has been shanghaied on Ava’s instruction. To say Chain of Custody has been broken is an understatement.
Anyway, I know Kristina is bad, I’m not supposed to like her. But my goodness she was funny this week. Raccoon, shiny new object, she was trying to shoot someone else. Hahahaha. I don’t know where all of this is going, but it may be entertaining. And if Cody sleeps with Ava and she finds out Kristina paid him to do it, I will laugh and laugh. That’s mean I know, but sorry, not sorry.
Liz, were you a fan of Elizabeth and lucky in the 90s before the fire happened?
I don’t remember Nelle and Shiloh being married. Nelle forced Julian Jerome to marry her during her custody battle with Michael and Willow over Wiley. It was after that Nelle slashed BLQ’s throat at the Nurse’s Ball, had Julian drug Monica and kidnap Wiley. That’s when Nelle went to the cabin with Wiley. Carly and Michael found her there, Nelle ran, and she and Carly fought. Nelle knocked Carly out with a rock and fell off the cliff to her soap opera ‘death.’ When did she marry Shiloh? I guess it must have been right before Shiloh was supposedly killed by Sam. Can someone explain?
