Brennan is dead, but was it murder? Anna lured Britt to Sonny’s cabin in the woods where no one can hear Britt scream. Will Jason arrive in time to stop Anna? Let’s discuss that, and lots more in an all-new General Hospital commentary for the week ending September 4, 2026.

Evil was afoot on General Hospital, but no one heard the victim’s screams. After Danny and Charlotte left Brennan floating in the pool, Drew and Ava decided to cover their own tracks in the top spy’s untimely demise by taking Brennan’s body and burying it. Will a tick be their undoing?

Death of the Station Chief

Jack Brennan is dead. Was it murder? Yes, but how many killers had a hand in his death is yet to be determined. We know the first two guilty parties are Drew and Ava. Three, if you want to include Martin who supplied Drew with the drug that Ava used to sedate Jack.

Ava was right. Even if Jack fell in that pool and drowned, she and Drew would go down for manslaughter because they had conspired to drug Jack with a powerful sedative. But I suspect that’s not really how Jack ended up in the pool.

Who Killed Brennan?

My gut tells me that Jack’s death is connected to whatever the WSB’s interest in Jasper Jacks Enterprises is. We know that Hudson was at Trina and Gio’s concert at the time of Jack’s death, but we also know that Hudson is not working alone. Was it Hudson’s mystery partner-in-crime who killed Jack and left him floating in the pool? Possible. But there are others who wanted Jack gone, including Willow who has been known to resort to murder to deal with her problems.

Willow was quite cheery when she ran into her cousin Britt at Metro Court’s restaurant bar where the two had drinks and chatted. Yes, she had Jack on tape admitting that he made the incriminating evidence the police had against her in Drew’s shooting go away, but that recording also made Willow complicit in evidence tampering. It was not really the smoking gun (no pun intended) that she had hoped it was.

To figure out what happened to Jack, we will need to wait for his body to be found and for the medical examiner to do an autopsy. One thing is for certain. Jack might very well be alive today if not for Drew and Ava. The two of them are in big trouble, especially if Isaiah tracks that trick Ava picked up back to the patch of ground where Drew and Anna buried Jack.

Good Soapy Drama

As sad as it is to see Jack Brennan be killed off, I do love a good murder mystery. This one has all the makings of a juicy one with many twists. We already know that several people are likely to find themselves in the hot seat for a time. I look forward to all of it, especially watching Nina squirm. It’s about time that the tables are turned on her — and her wicked daughter.

But, as I said, it comes at the expense of Chris McKenna who is now out of a job. That sucks.

Thank You

I’m sad to see Chris go. He’s a wonderful actor who stepped into big shoes and managed to make the character his own. It took a while (I adored Charles Mesure), but Chris eventually won me over as Jack Brennan. I loved his mentor relationship with Josslyn, and I enjoyed that he was a good guy, but willing to do bad things when necessary. Like Valentin, Jack was a gray character. Those are always the most interesting to me.

If you haven’t seen the wildly hilarious reels that Chris McKenna and Andrew Hawkes film playing their alter egos Jack Brennan and Ross Cullum, you must. They are the best. Someone needs to cast these two in a movie together!

A Piping-hot Dish of Revenge

Back to the mystery unfolding in Port Charles. Drew framed Nina for Jack’s murder by planting Jack’s wallet in her car. That means, Drew fully intends for that body to be found, which is exactly why he decided to bury it near the Quartermaine estate. Ava is going to regret putting her fate in Drew’s hands. At best, it’s going to cost her a friendship with Nina, and at worst, she’s going to end up in prison right next to Drew.

The first red flag for Ava should have been Drew’s lame excuse that driving out to the Pine Barrens to ditch Jack’s body was too far and too risky because they might get pulled over. Drew is an ex-SEAL. He knows how to travel without drawing attention. The second red flag was the location that he selected. If you don’t want a body found, you take it far away from where people might wander. We saw just how close it was to the Quartermaine estate when Charlotte ran after Outback, who had quickly found the freshly dug grave.

Drew’s Revenge

Nina will be the first domino to fall, but Willow will be right behind her. Mark my words. Now that they’ve lost their fixer, there is no one to protect them from Drew. The only reason that Nina and Willow have gotten this far was because of Jack. I can’t stand Drew, but I love that he’s setting Nina up. She is no better than her rotten daughter. Nina was perfectly willing to murder Drew (by pushing his wheelchair — with him in it — into the lake), and she has enabled Willow every step of the way. There are no clean hands here, including Ava who is in this mess up to her neck.

Danger Danny and Charl<s>ott</s>ey Quinn

But Nina and Willow aren’t the only ones who are going to fall under suspicion for Jack’s death. Danny and Charlotte are in big trouble too because Charlotte’s bracelet got tangled in Jack’s jacket and is now laying right on top of the gravesite.

Folks, Jason and Valentin are terrible fathers. They love their kids, but they show no real backbone when it comes to their wayward children, and that just further fuels Danny and Charlotte’s reckless choices. Danny has taken two vehicles (a speedboat and Chase’s truck) without permission and damaged both. That’s not teens being teens. Skipping school, missing curfew, or going to a friend’s house instead of the library are typical teenage rebellions. Danny is firmly in juvenile delinquent territory. So is Charlotte.

Trouble and Punishment

I was shocked that Carly and Valentin were aghast that Jason had grounded Danny from operating any motor vehicles for six months, as if that was excessive. It absolutely isn’t. Danny committed felonies because he has terrible impulse control issues. He can see his friends at school, but after that it should be family only. And a therapist at least once a week. Let’s face it, Danny has been going down this road since before his mother died. Remember when he snuck out, got drunk, and smoked weed?

Danny’s behavior is a silent scream for help. Simply grounding him isn’t enough. He’s had so many tragedies in his young life. Losing his father (only for his dad to return from the dead), losing his mother, being kept from his sister, and always being last on the list of Jason’s priorities. That is, until recently. All of that takes a toll on a teen.

Apples and Troubling Trees

I’ve seen some suggest that Danny is following in Jason’s footsteps because he’s exactly like his father. I disagree. Jason suffered a traumatic brain injury that made him who he is today. It was the TBI that drew Jason to danger and speed. It was one of the few times he felt any kind of emotion. Jason loved and felt loyalty, but he saw things in black and white. He was not someone burdened with a guilty conscience when Sonny sent his enforcer to eliminate one of Sonny’s many enemies. Jason saw them as a threat to Sonny, and that was enough to justify the killings.

Granted, all were ruthless criminals, but the same could be said for Sonny.

Danny didn’t suffer a TBI. That’s not something a parent can pass down through their DNA. Prior to Jason’s head injury, he was a completely different person. He wanted to follow in his beloved parents’ footsteps and pursue a career in medicine. He was thoughtful, kind, and caring. The golden child. That Jason would never have stolen a car and gone joy riding. That Jason probably would have never owned a motorcycle.

Double Trouble

Now, Sam was a thrill seeker since birth, and someone who made impulsive decisions. If anything, Danny is his mother’s son. I see so many similarities between the two. She too tended to be self-destructive, especially when she felt cornered. She had a good heart, but she often acted without thinking things through which would backfire in spectacular fashion. Not always, like during the Metro Court hostage crisis, but certainly during the years she ran cons.

Sam enjoyed the adrenaline rush. It made her feel invincible when she cheated death, and she chased it like a junkie does their next fix. She wasn’t a bad person. Just the opposite. She had a huge heart and believed in fighting for those you love. That’s why she ran cons. She did what she had to in order to protect her brother Danny (Danny’s namesake) and give him the best life possible in an environment that catered to his special needs.

I want better for Danny than to follow in Jason’s footsteps. I want him to be his own person and the best version of himself, which I don’t see that happening as long as Charlotte is whispering in his ear.

The Trouble with Charlotte

That brings me to Charlotte. Danny’s sidekick. His Charley Quinn if you will. She too could greatly benefit from some therapy. I remember her going after that whole Victor brainwashing incident that led to her breaking into Anna’s apartment and getting shot, but it seems like that fell by the wayside. Too bad. Charlotte is arguably worse than Danny when it comes to finding trouble. Danny is, at his heart a good kid, but there’s a darkness in Charlotte that’s been there since an early age. Remember when she put that snake in Ava’s purse during Violet Finn’s birthday party?

That said, Charlotte comes by it honestly. Her family tree is filled with villains. Her grandparents were Helena and Victor Cassadine, her great-grandfather was Tim Spencer (an abusive alcoholic who tormented his family), and of course her father is Valentin. Don’t get me wrong, I love Valentin, but he’s done some twisted things over the years.

There’s no disputing that Valentin loves his daughter, but he also indulges her far too much. Rocco was right when he accused Charlotte of wanting to live with her father because Valentin lets Charlotte do as she pleases.

The Deep End of Trouble

Unfortunately, the teens are about to become the prime suspects in Jack’s murder. Charlotte will at least, but I’m pretty sure Danny will be right next to her. Will Ava be able to stay silent if two kids take the fall for Jack’s death? Drew won’t have a problem with it. In fact, I think he will take great pleasure in watching Danny be accused of killing the WSB station chief.

Trina’s Stalker

Gio and Trina performed at a bar no bigger than Charlie’s Pub, but to hear Simon talk, it could have been a gig at The Apollo or The Troubadour. I kept wondering why they didn’t just perform at The Savoy instead of that tiny venue?

I hate everything about this new direction for Trina. To me, Gio and Trina are completely mismatched. Gio is a gifted classically trained violinist while Trina never even hummed a tune until recently. Suddenly, she’s writing bluesy songs and Gio is backup on guitar doing something he doesn’t seem to have a passion for. Not like he did the violin. All of this feels so contrived. This stalker storyline could have worked without changing who Trina was.

Fame

The other issue I have with this storyline is that fame is a one-way ticket off canvas. If Trina and Gio truly do make it big, they will eventually have to go on tour, which means leaving Port Charles. I don’t want that to happen. I love Gio and Emma’s romantic chemistry and energy, and I don’t want to lose Trina. A part of me is always going to hold out hope that Spencer will be found alive and return to Port Charles and Trina. I feel like they have so much unfinished story left.

Of course, with Trina’s stalker in the mix, the potential is high for things to go badly. Career-ending badly. Will the stalker make a move that destroys Trina’s budding career as a superstar? The odds are high that General Hospital plans to go in that direction.

Stalker Vibes

General Hospital has given us two contenders for the person who is stalking Trina.

The first is Simon, the music producer, who is aggressively pushing Trina and Gio to pretend to be a couple. It’s for that very reason that I question if he’s the stalker. Would a stalker do that — or would a stalker insist that Trina appear to be single and push her to break up with Kai? Also, I’m still confused about his sudden shift in regard to Trina. Didn’t Simon originally try to sign Gio without Trina? And who exactly did Simon call to warn that they needed to keep a close eye on Trina? It sounded ominous, like Simon thought she would be a problem. Now, he acts like Gio is some mediocre musician (he’s definitely not) and Trina is the big star of the duo.

I think Simon is a creep, and he’s definitely working another agenda, but is he the stalker? He could be. But, as I said, there’s another suspect.

Quinn Enters The Chat

Quinn could also be the one obsessed with Trina, but I’m a bit confused about him too. Originally, he had an issue with Trina because he felt that Trina had pulled Kai away from football. The animosity was so strong that it caused a rift between Kai and Quinn. Then, many months later and seemingly out of the blue, Quinn popped up to reconcile with both Kai and Trina, and he recently began volunteering at the local animal shelter where Emma volunteers. Coincidence? On soaps, no. It’s either a deliberate misdirection or a clue.

Was Quinn hiding a secret crush on Trina back when he was trying to get Kai to choose football over Trina? Possibly, but why was Quinn so hard on Trina back then? He was not at all nice to her. If anything, he seemed more obsessed with Kai than with Trina. Is that what’s really going on here? Is Quinn’s interest in Trina rooted in hatred rather than admiration? That would make more sense to me — and be a much better sudsy twist.

Scarecrow and the Britch

As Friday’s (September 4) episode drew to a close, Anna lured Britt to a remote cabin in the woods. Luckily for Britt, Dr. Tristan has big ears and overheard where she was headed, so he let Jason know. Jason made a quick call to Sonny, who confided that Anna had expressed interest in buying Sonny’s cabin in the same exact woods where Britt was headed.

But is Jason too late to save Britt from Anna’s trap? When Britt asked about the remote location, Anna explained that it was chosen as the meeting place “so no one can hear you scream.” Next thing you know, Anna pulled out her gun and aimed it at Britt. On the ground, was a large tarp that Anna had laid out.

Jason To The Rescue

I have no doubt that Jason will arrive in the nick of time. But saving Britt will come at a cost. I’m certain it will be the end of Jason and Britt because Jason is about to find out that Britt had been keeping secrets. Again. After she had promised that she wasn’t hiding anything. I’m okay with that because for two people in love they have spent very little time together, and even less in bed together. They’ve barely shared a kiss since their declarations of love.

These days, Britt has more romantic chemistry with Lucas than she does with Jason.

Port Charles Potpourri

Some quick thoughts about other things going on in and around Port Charles.

The Beetlejuice Effect

Last week, I speculated that Jerry Jacks might be returning. This week, Carly said his name when Jason asked if Metro Court’s vault was secure. “Oh yeah. After that whole hostage situation with Jerry Jacks, I put the vault on a separate system, and I went and checked it myself,” Carly said. It’s a well-known fact in the land of soaps that if a character who hasn’t been on screen in ages is mentioned — especially multiple times — they will be back on our screens soon.

Pentonville Blues

To no one’s surprise, I’m sure, Jenz Sidwell turned out to be Curtis’ new cellmate. Naturally, Sidwell played his usual mind games and made veiled threats, but can he back it up? I don’t know, however prison hasn’t humbled Curtis one iota. If anything, he’s even more insufferable. Why do General Hospital’s writers make Curtis so unlikeable?

Baine of Josslyn’s Existence

General Hospital cast Alimi Ballard as WSB Agent William Baines. I have a feeling that he’s going to make Josslyn’s life miserable. Jack treated Josslyn like a favorite. Baines treats her like the low-level rookie agent she is. I like that. Like Curtis, Josslyn could use some humbling too.

Love Me Tender

During Friday’s episode, Rocco and Scout shared their first kiss. These two kind souls are so sweet together, but Drew is going to blow his stack because he’s a jerk and views Scout more as a possession than as a tenderhearted teen who needs nurturing. Plus, his hatred for Sonny extends to Sonny’s loved ones, including Rocco. I really hope Drew goes to jail, so Scout can go back to living with Alexis and Molly.

A Lifetime of Drama

Congratulations to Genie Francis who will be receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 53rd Daytime Emmys for her incredible career in Daytime television. What a tremendous honor. She is so deserving of it. Even before Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary), Genie was a star on General Hospital. With Luke, Luke and Laura became the first real supercouple, and their first wedding (November 17, 1981) still holds the record as the highest-rated soap opera episode ever. I love this for Genie.

Where’s Tamilu?

You may have noticed that it was Tamilu’s turn to write a column this week, but instead you got me. Rest assured that Tamilu is fine. She took some time off to enjoy life with her wonderful hubby (who doesn’t watch General Hospital), so I will be filling in for her, just as she did for me when I went to Hawaii in May. Worry not, our fabulous Tamilu will be back by the end of the month.

What General Hospital Viewers Are Saying

We love reading what other fans have to say about the show, so please scroll down to the Comments section and share your thoughts. He was a wonderful, multi-layered villain.” — Sasa

“When Brennan collapsed Valentin even asked Nina what was in that syringe. Can’t they put two and two together and figure out that Drew was drugged too? Then, make the connection that WILLOW did it and Nina had been helping her? WHY haven’t they said anything?” — SFan

“And it is always a great day when Natasha comes out to play. Alexis called Willow for what she has done and the realization that Wiley and Amelia will learn the truth about their mother. That scene was so great that I dug into the archives to re-watch Kristina Cassadine’s funeral again to see Natasha wearing the necklaces and mourn her beloved little sister. NLG is a great actress.
