Her attempts to sex Bill to death were thwarted when Bill showed little interest in sexytimes. Well, at least with her. Now she’s had to go back to dosing his drinks – now in the form of a green smoothie — with her bosom poison. I don’t know if she’s upped the amount she’s giving him, if the cumulative effect is now kicking in, or if she’s added something new to the concoction, but now Bill is staggering all over town. And while he’s taken several tumbles, still he rises. Bill Hamilton is a living, breathing Weeble. He wobbles, but he won’t fall down. I dub thee WeeBill.

On top of that, Hayley got into a bit of a verbal tiff with coconspirator Randy when she badmouthed his maybe-boo thing Mona. We know that Randy likes Mona, but I am not sure if we knew the depth of his feelings for her until now. Maybe Randy didn’t even know. It’s interesting that Hayley believes that Randy is going to slip up and say something to Mona that he shouldn’t. To date, it’s been Hayley that’s been slipping up. The only mistake that I can remember Randy making was when he botched shooting KKKenneth.

Just a wildly random aside, the show really missed out on a chance to blow everyone’s minds by not making Mona the Impaler. Imagine Randy, worried that his “God fearing” church lady friend is judging him, finding out that his God-fearing church lady friend is a mobster. Heads would have exploded.

The Lies, The Lies, The Lies!

Back to Hayley, Randy dinged Hayley for being sloppy when she’s distracted. Well, she must be distracted because she is getting sloppy – and people are starting to notice. Hayley’s lies have been, until now, pretty good. She somehow managed to pull off a faked pregnancy even though everyone believed she was faking. Staging a public miscarriage was criminal mastermindedness at its best. Or worst. Well, you know what I mean. She was able to bob and weave (which isn’t all that much different than weebling and wobbling) when Lynette came to town and threatened to blow things up.

Now, though, Hayley’s throwaway explanations and lies are starting to come back to haunt her. I’m not sure if she believed that no one in her orbit would talk to each other or if she just believed that she was too good to be caught, but Naomi and Smitty’s impromptu tête-à-tête started to expose her lies. Smitty noted that Hayley was upset that Lynette vanished, but that wasn’t the story Hayley had told to Naomi. The timelines of when Lynette and Hayley first “met” also never aligned. June swooped in with the details about how the sweet Wesley “Sledge” Hammer had been wrongly pegged as Hayley’s attacker.

Two Lovers… It’s All the Rage

Let’s go back to Bill for a moment. It’s not just his gait that is all over the place. It was wild to hear him pitch the idea that he and Dani could continue to be friends with benefits (without elevators). Soaps have gotten a little watered down over the years so something like this seems decidedly risqué in a 2026 lens. On top of that, it’s not that I’m shocked that Bill was thinking about cheating on Hayley. I’m shocked that the words came out of his mouth. Bill definitely has a healthy sense of “self,” I’ll give him that. Perhaps he was inspired by Nicole’s not-torn between two lovers lifestyle.

Dani rejected the offer immediately, but I don’t know if her brain, eyes, and lips are in agreement. While Dani’s mouth said no to sexing her ex, her eyes looked like she wanted to jump him right there in the living room. I don’t get it. Yes, Bill is the father of her children and she loved him at one point, but Bill has shown repeatedly that he’s not a nice guy. Maybe his fierce loyalty overrides that. When I am over someone or something, it’s a wrap.

Two Fathers… It’s Becoming the Rage

Interestingly enough, Vernon also just can’t seem to quit Bill Hamilton. I would assume that the father of the woman you cheated on wouldn’t like you or want to hang out with you post-divorce. Of course, Bill and Vernon have a complicated relationship. I know that Vernon loves his daughters, but it’s pretty clear that he liked having Bill as a son. Ditto for the way Bill felt about Vernon.

I guess that I can believe that bygones are bygones when someone’s health comes into the mix. Bill supported Anita, so it’s not that unbelievable that Vernon might be concerned about Bill’s health woes. When Vernon started to talk about how unusual it was for someone’s Bill age to be having a health scare, I was really expecting him to hint that Hayley was responsible. He didn’t, but I wouldn’t have been upset if Vernon was the one to put the pieces together.

Who’s That Boy?

I didn’t need any spoilers or in-show hints to know exactly who the maxed-out credit card fella was at Orphey Gene’s. The moment I saw Nick Hagelin (Noah Rollins) I knew that he had to be Kial’s son. Okay, let me keep it totally real. I didn’t know it immediately. When I saw the actor, I thought he might be Greg Vaughan’s (Kial Rollins) real-life son getting some sort of walk-on cameo part. When the then-unnamed character spoke, I notice the guitar case and put two and two together. The Beyond the Gates casting director nailed this one.

That being said, I don’t quite understand why Noah was needed on the canvas right now. It’s clear that Deanna is taken by the young man, but it seems odd to give her a love interest right now when her purpose in the story is to cause trouble for Vanessa and Joey’s relationship. It’s not that I can’t story multitask – I mean, I had to keep track of the soapy shenanigans on over a dozen soaps in my previous life as owner and operator of Soap Central. I think it’s more that soaps tend not to give characters – particularly characters whose portrayers are not on contract with the show – more than one major story at a time.

It doesn’t look like Noah’s presence will cause trouble for Nicole and Kial – at least not in the traditional way. Noah is a little too grown to be doing the more standard, immature relationship meddling that we’ve come to see on soaps. Kial has a problem with his son’s begging for money. We don’t really know all the details of Noah’s financial woes. Yes, his credit card is maxed out. But how long has his dad been subsidizing his life? Could this be more than a starving artist storyline? Maybe there is some sort of dependency issue involved that we don’t know about. Maybe the friction between Kial and Noah will cause Nicole to see Kial in a different light.

The End of the Road?

As entitled as Noah may or may not be, that attitude did provide one of the funnier moments of the week. As Kial tried to figure out where Noah would live while in the DMV, Nicole mentioned that she had plenty of space in her home. “That works for me,” Noah quickly replied with a smile. That’s when Kial had to step in and explain that the room at Nicole’s house was for him.

Eyebrows were raised earlier in the week when Greg Vaughan made a somewhat cryptic post on Instagram. The post included Vaughan thanking “everyone who’s been part” of his journey before adding that he’s ready for “the next chapter.” Fans immediately questioned if the actor’s post was his way of revealing that his time on Beyond the Gates had come to an end. If true and Vaughan waited until after filming his final scenes, it will be well into the fall before we see his on-screen exit. Beyond the Gates films a little more than three months ahead of airdate. Vaughan made his debut in the recurring role on December 8, 2025.

Spelling Bee

I will admit that I was a bit surprised that a man whose name is spelled “Kial” allowed his child to have such a pedestrian spelling for his name. Noah? Really? I expected something like “Nowuh” or “Knowa.”

We are the Champagnes

Andre’s reaction to the mysterious, but expensive, bottle of Champagne is fascinating. He obviously knows – or strongly suspects – who sent it. First, I was a little concerned about the Unabomber-style way that the package was wrapped. Second, it did not look nearly protected enough to be sent via USPS. Third, if you are wondering, the Louis Broussard brand appears to be made up.

Remember back when Andre nixed appearing in the Forrester Creations campaign with Dani? We all thought it was because he was hiding from someone. Then everyone griped and groaned when he revealed that he was self-conscious about his looks because he is more comfortable behind the camera. What if that wasn’t actually true and we were all right to believe that Andre had a secret. The question is… what is the secret?

Secrets Are Meant To Be Kept

For the longest time I thought that maybe Andre’s parents did not die in a plane crash and were living somewhere in the Witness Protection Program. I’m not sure how I came up with that theory. It just felt right. Another twist on that would be that Andre is the one who is in hiding, though he’d probably not done the best job with that. Maybe the sender of the Champagne is pointedly telling Andre that he’s been found.

A less sinister and, admittedly, more soapy idea would be that the mystery sender is one of Andre’s old flames. We’ve heard that Andre had quite a list of lovers before settling down in the DMV. Maybe he married someone abroad and ran away from the marriage.

A really horrific idea – and one that is more in line with hoe social media “fans” claim the show writes – would be that Andre stole a bottle of Champagne from the vineyard and they are letting him know that he needs to settle his tab.

Obviously, the last idea is a little shady. It’s just my way of saying that some stories need time to breathe. Audiences seem to have become accustomed to wanting or demanding that big events happen when they want them. There is no longer the slow build that made soaps famous. By allowing whatever Andre’s secret is to marinate, it also gave rise to Dani having a secret of her own (the elevator romp). It makes it all a little messier if we just allow things to happen in their own time.

Beside, Behind, and Beyond The Gates: The Speed Round

Here are some of the thoughts and observations about other things happening on Beyond the Gates.

BRCA BRCA

I’ve been enjoying how Beyond the Gates has shifted the BRCA gene storyline from Anita’s battle with breast cancer to Naomi and Dani’s radically different approaches to their own diagnoses. I don’t think that there has ever been a story told on a soap that involved three different generations of women at the same time. Knowing the characters as we do, it’s not a surprise that Naomi has done research to come up with what she believes is her best course of action. As for Dani, I have to wonder if she’d have handled the news differently if she didn’t have a new husband and a career resurgence. Still, I know plenty of people who would prefer to be blissfully ignorant to everything and to focus on living each day to the fullest.

Thawthorne

I thought the Izaiah and Elon scenes at Orphey Gene’s were good drama. Elon really seemed to want to make things right with his son, but Izaiah came in with a really bad attitude. Somehow, things didn’t totally go off the tracks. Elon claimed that he had tried to raise his songs the way that his father raised him. That’s a story I’ve heard many men of a certain age tell. Unfortunately for Elon, he didn’t realize until it was too late that one size parenting doesn’t fit all.

There was a nice moment that involved June. When she seated the Hawthorne men, Izaiah said that he had no interest in menus or coffee because he wouldn’t be staying long. After a while, June returned and asked if she could top off Izaiah’s cup. It was a lowkey busybody way of trying to check on the two men.

The show actually does a really good job of using June in that capacity. I know that Jasmine Burke (June Hughes) received a Daytime Emmy nomination this year in the Oustanding Guest Performance category, but she’s the perfect example of a Supporting Actress. June’s interactions with young “I have Noah money to pay my check” Rollins is another example. She provided just the right amount of sass to frame the story. Her heartfelt conversation with Vanessa about motherhood was also really quite moving.

There was also a funny moment when Vanessa and Nicole watched the awkwardness of Elon and Izaiah’s lunch meeting from a nearby table. They were the Beyond the Gates equivalent of the Muppet Show’s Statler and Waldorf.

Reunited And It Feels…

With the rumors about Greg Vaughan’s Kial exiting, and Carlton not being seeing in weeks, might this be a hint that Nicole and Ted are going to get back together? If you need other hints: Ted never got his own place, so the show didn’t have to create a new set for him. And Shanice has repeatedly mentioned her fear of dating a guy who would dump her to go back to his ex.

Speaking of Ted and Shanice: I like Shanice and I like Ted… but I just don’t like them as a couple. I don’t know what it is and I also have similar relationship weirdness with Ashley. I like Ashley, but I have disliked her in every relationship she’s had.

Unwelcome Home

I don’t know that I needed Heather back in town. Her return does make sense since Smitty has been asking questions and publishing more articles. It was crazy that Heather suggested that Joey kill Smitty because it would, in addition to making her life easier, help Martin get reelected to Congress. Even crazier? There are probably real-life politics operatives who have pitched the idea of murder to help one of their candidates.

Meanwhile, Impaler or not, in the battle between Heather and Vanessa, my money is on Vanessa.

Health and Wellness

I thought Chelsea’s livestream was incredibly important. Using a fictional influencer to tell a very important real-life story about the importance of organ donation was a job well done. I hope folks watching at home really listened to the message.

It was also very touching to see Anita thank Laura for having talked her into getting a mammogram. That simple task, one that many personal assistants probably do on a regular basis, very well could have been the reason that Anita is still alive. How do you thank someone for saving your life? With a beautiful diamond necklace, naturally. All kidding aside, it was a really nice interaction.

Quick Takes

I’m pretty sure it’s illegal for a restaurant to take an unpaid tab out of a server’s paycheck. Maybe June was heaping on to make a point.

BTG: Behind the Graphic

Wondering what this week’s header graphic is all about? Well, you don’t need to watch an Instagram livestream to get the answers. The little toy is a Weeble, which I’ve decided is what Bill is… at least for now. The siren was mentioned when Vernon was trying to convince Bill to take his health woes seriously. The bottle of Champagne is the mystery bottle that was sent to Dani and Andre. And I also threw in a copy of Noah’s maxed-out credit card for good measure.

Beyond the Gates: Lines of the Week

The Beyond the Gates writing team seems to be having a little too much fun.
