Sonny, Jason, Sidwell, and even Valentin have committed murder. Now, Willow is doing her best to join their ranks. Will justice ever prevail? Let’s discuss that and more in a new General Hospital commentary for the week ending February 6, 2026.

General Hospital has always had a very loose relationship with justice, but lately, it’s gotten out of hand. What is the point of having a police department if they never solve crimes — unless Sonny and Jason help them out? Now, we have them looking at innocent people when they fail to convict the criminals. That’s not justice.

Is this really what viewers want to see? I sure don’t.

Killow is just getting started

Willow got away with attempted murder, which seems to have emboldened her. Rather than make the most of the second chance she’s been given, she’s leaning into all her dark urges. She jabbed Drew with a syringe filled with a drug that induced a massive stroke and now keeps him locked in his body unable to move except for his eyes. He’s entirely at the mercy of his new demented bride. Judging by the gleam in her evil eyes, she has big plans for him, none of which will actually be good for Drew.

If Willow’s malevolence was just reserved for Drew, I’d pop some popcorn and enjoy what the General Hospital writers have in store for us. Unfortunately, Willow is also on a mission to get the kids away from Michael. During a break at Alexis’ office, Willow took the opportunity to plant a key to Drew’s house on Michael’s keyring. A keyring that Chase found.

Just the facts

Chase is certain that Willow is as innocent as the day is long. He points to her acquittal as proof. Just to be clear, Willow was found not guilty because the jury didn’t see all of the evidence against her. Thanks to Jack, who foolishly cut a one-sided deal with Nina, the camera footage of Willow driving down Drew’s street right before the shooting vanished. That key piece of evidence, combined with the gun found in her possession, her false alibi and her lie by omission when the police questioned her painted a damaging picture that the jury was never privy to.

Chase has never been objective about this. He went in certain that Willow was innocent and that Michael was guilty. Any evidence that didn’t support his theory was either ignored or dismissed, and that, my friends, infuriates me. A good detective would never do that. An investigator keeps an open mind and lets the evidence speak to them. Chase has never done that with this case.

Brook Lynn needs to run

I think it’s time for Brook Lynn to cut her losses and run. Chase checked out of their marriage when he learned that he couldn’t father children. Since then, she and Chase have drifted apart. When the truth about Willow comes out — and Chase realizes just how incredibly wrong he’s been about everything — he’s going to be more of a mess than he was when Dante rightfully demoted him. Brook Lynn doesn’t need to clean that mess up, especially after she repeatedly warned him that he was headed down a dangerous path.

In recent weeks, the distance between Chase and Brook Lynn has been even more glaring. He continually prioritizes Willow over his wife. Has he spent any significant time getting to know his stepson? No. He’s too busy swinging punches at Michael and questioning Dante’s — his close friend– ethics.

Karma will come calling on General Hospital

Willow can’t continue like this for much longer. Too many people know about her dirty deeds. Michael spoke to Dante months ago about Michael’s suspicion that Willow had been behind the unsettling incidents with Daisy. Kai, Trina, Alexis, and Suzanne know that Willow shot Drew. Soon, I suspect Nina will too.

Using that key to Drew’s house as any kind of proof of Michael’s guilt is laughable. Not only did Tracy have it made (which means there’s a record of it), but Martin can testify that she gave it to him, and he in turn gave it to Willow. Furthermore, Tracy admitted to Chase, Brook Lynn, Gio and Emma that she had made the key. Chase suddenly finding it on Michael’s keyring is not evidence. Diane could easily argue that anyone – including Chase – could have planted it there. Why would Michael be stupid enough to keep such incriminating evidence on him?

Here’s hoping Alexis has a security camera in her reception area and it caught Willow planting that key. Then again, Wiley could always testify that he saw Chase put those keys under the counter where they will no doubt eventually be found.

Our love’s in jeopardy, baby

Despite Willow’s good fortune in court, she continues to do bad things. She nearly got busted by Chase on Friday when he ran to her rescue after hearing her slam a tray on the floor. Oddly, she never questioned what Chase was doing uninvited in her home — or did I miss that? The scene where Willow confessed all to Drew, and why she shot him and put Drew in a paralyzed state was riveting. Katelyn MacMullen was fantastic. However, Willow is unraveling, and the more desperate she feels the harder it will be to hide her true nature.

Kai stands guard

Kai has decided that he must be Drew’s protector, since Drew is unable to defend himself. How long before Kai realizes that Willow had something to do with Drew’s stroke — or worse catches her in the act of doing something terrible? Will Kai live to share the proof of Willow’s crimes with the police? I have to admit that it would make for a great twist if Willow ended up killing Kai to protect secrets.

Truthfully, I’ve never been a fan of Kai and Trina’s romance. From the very beginning, I have felt that the writers dimmed Trina’s light to make her romance with Kai work. She props him up and seems to always acquiesce to his wishes. Their recent conversations regarding Willow’s guilt are perfect examples. Kai never takes Trina’s advice. Instead, he always pushes back until she capitulates. Even then, he’s been known to change his mind, but always on his terms never Trina’s.

It’s frustrating because if they had listened to Trina from the start and called 9-1-1 following the shooting, all of this could have been avoided. But no, Kai insisted it was a bad idea. Now, a would-be killer is walking free.

Innocent pawns

If there weren’t any children involved in this storyline with Willow, I’d probably enjoy it — while still rooting for Willow’s downfall. Seeing Drew get his just deserts sounds positively divine after watching him wreak havoc on everyone’s lives for nearly two years. But I can’t ignore the kids and how they fit into this sordid saga.

Scout lost her mother. It’s a loss no child — young or old — ever recovers from. They just live with the pain. If the loss of a mother wasn’t bad enough, Scout essentially was dealt a second blow when she was barred by her own father from seeing her beloved brother. In fact, Scout has been a pawn in her father’s twisted agenda for the past couple of years. Remember when he tried to ship her off to boarding school without discussing it with Sam? Scout was never his priority.

In a perfect world

If I could spend a day as a General Hospital writer, I’d have Molly march to the courthouse and file for custody of her niece. That’s who Scout should be with. Molly is the only decent family member in the bunch. Alexis’ ethics check out when it suits her, Kristina has homicidal tendencies, Drew is pure evil, and Killow is as bad as her twin, Nelle.

Mommy dearest

Wiley and Amelia are in a far more precarious situation than Scout because everyone believes that Willow is a wonderful mother. Even Michael foolishly believes that Willow would never hurt the children. At least not intentionally. But the viewers see the real Willow, and that woman is off her rocker. She is unstable, unpredictable, and desperate. It’s a dangerous combination.

Children being used as pawns in their parents’ war is not new, not even on soaps. However, I really don’t have any desire to see Wiley and Amelia walk in on their mom torturing Drew or witnessing something equally horrific. I know they aren’t real children, but it’s not something I want to see. General Hospital is my escape. Something that I watch for the adult drama, not the kid trauma.

Brotherly love

That brings me to Sonny and Ric. These two brothers have never been close. Ric was raised by a man who taught Ric to hate his brother. Trevor Lansing filled Ric’s head with lies about how Sonny pushed Adela down a flight of stairs because Sonny had hoped his mother would miscarry her unborn child – Ric. It was nonsense of course. Sonny was a child himself and dearly loved his mother. The fall was an accident, and Trevor was bitter because Adela chose her son over him. He used his considerable wealth and power to keep Ric from her as punishment.

When Ric first came to Port Charles, he was on a mission to take Sonny down and to make him pay for taking Adela away. In time, Ric learned the truth but by then the damage between the brothers had been done. Ric had crossed a line that no man should. He kidnapped Sonny’s pregnant wife and locked her in a panic room. Over the years, Sonny and Ric would reach tentative truces, but they were usually short-lived mostly because of Ric’s poor choices. Despite that, I always held out hope that one day a true peace would take root.

It’s never too late

In recent months, General Hospital has slowly moved Sonny and Ric to a reconciliation, and I am thrilled. I feel like this is so long overdue. These two are brothers, and even though they weren’t raised together, their lives have become intertwined. I’m so ready to see where things go from here.

It looks promising. Both brothers might even find love in 2026.

Sonny and Lady Justice…err, Justine

I must confess that I rolled my eyes when it became clear that Sonny and Justine were being chemistry tested. Every woman who has ever come to town to take down Sonny inevitably ended up in his bed. Hannah Scott, Reese Marshall, Angel Ellis, Claudia Zacchara, etc. Wash, rinse, repeat. I was certain the same would happen with Justine Turner.

To my surprise, it hasn’t. Not yet anyway.

We’ve gotten to know Justine as a person, and it seems like she’s actually an ethical attorney. She wants justice, but not at any cost. I like that about her. I also like that she’s willing to keep an open mind. Is she falling for Sonny’s charm, dimples, and fabulous cooking? Yes, but I don’t see her compromising her morals to be with him. Sonny has killed people and gotten away with it. Most recently, a federal agent. She realizes that there are shades of gray to Sonny, but she hasn’t lost sight of the fact that he’s a criminal and he will eventually do illegal things.

For the first time in a very long time, I’m actually interested in where things go between Sonny and our new acting district attorney. Before Sidwell blew into down, Sonny was talking about retirement. I would love for that to happen after Sidwell is vanquished because that might be the only way Sonny can be with Justine without her having to compromise her values.

Ric and second chances

Things might be looking up for Ric too. Liz was surprised by the beautiful bouquet of flowers that Ric sent to her at General Hospital, and she agreed to go out with him. Are there sparks? Yes, there have always been sparks between Liz and Ric, but there’s also a lot of history and quite a bit of it is bad. Liz is the love of Ric’s life, but he is not hers. There might also be some competition waiting in the wings.

I saw a distinctive spark of something between Liz and Dante during Friday’s episode when she offered him advice about Britt and Rocco. The way that Dante smiled at Liz wasn’t strictly platonic. Maybe I misread things, but this is a soap. What better way to test Ric and Sonny’s newfound brotherly love than to have Sonny’s son swoop in and sweep Liz off her feet and away from Ric?

Love and friendship

Dante certainly won’t be reconciling with Lulu anytime soon. That door was slammed shut during the blizzard.

Nathan and Lulu have developed feelings for each other. They have bonded over their recent experiences. Both woke up one day to discover that they had missed years of their lives. Their loves had moved on, their children grew older, and life proceeded without them. I can’t imagine going through something like that, so I get why these two leaned on each other. They each continue to struggle with finding their footing. When Maxie wakes up, she will be in a similar boat, so maybe Lulu and Nathan can offer her some advice.

Oh, wait, no they can’t because Maxie won’t want anything to do with either of them.

Best friends forever

I’ve never been in a position where I developed feelings for a close friend’s husband, boyfriend, or partner. I know it happens, but in most cases, there is a cost. Usually, it’s your friend because most see it as a betrayal. I would, which is why I would nip things in the bud at the first sign of trouble rather than betray a friend.

Maxie lost Nathan years ago, and she moved on. She ultimately found happiness with Spinelli, and together they built a life around their children. But make no mistake, Maxie mourned Nathan and she was reminded of him whenever she looked at her son. She had no choice in the matter. Nathan was dead…or so she thought.

When Maxie wakes up from her coma – and she will because this is a soap – she is going to be deeply hurt when she learns that in the months — months not years — she’s been in a coma Lulu and Nathan found comfort in each other that went beyond friendship. How can that not feel like a betrayal?

A fast track to love

Nathan and Lulu went from commiserating to locking lips, without anything in between. I would like to have seen them each at least try to fight their feelings for the other. There had to be a moment prior to the kiss when they each felt an attraction, so why not try to do the right thing for Maxie by putting distance between themselves? Instead, Nathan and Lulu had an attack of conscience after their faithless lips left the barn.

Maxie is going to wake up, and by the looks of it General Hospital plans for that to happen in the very near future. That’s what the kiss is really about. I’ve seen it coming since Lulu and Nathan sat on her porch talking about how no one understands what they’ve been through. Not Laura who suffered from a fugue state for years, not Sonny who had amnesia for nearly a year, not Nina who spent two decades in a coma and unknowingly gave birth to twins. Not any of the half dozen people in Port Charles who have come back from the dead over the years, including Jason and Anna. Just Lulu and Nathan.

I’m Team Maxie in this. Unless, of course, Nathan is not Nathan.

Did Peter rear his ugly head?

I’m sure many of you caught that story that Nathan shared about his father – businessman Dan Reeves – forcing Nathan to memorize the periodic table as a child as a form of punishment. What utter poppycock. That sounds exactly like something Cesar Faison would have done to Heinrik. Coupled with a recent incident when “Nathan” broke the chain of custody (by leaving evidence unattended), I’m more certain than ever that we have a switcheroo coming up.

My theory has always been that Maxie was poisoned because she could easily unmask an imposter posing as her beloved Nathan. No one knew Nathan better than she did. If Peter is passing himself off as Nathan, Maxie would know right away. If that’s the case, I prefer that he remain in Lulu’s orbit. Maxie’s children are too young for Faison/August shenanigans, and both Bailey Lou and James would be in too much danger near Peter.

If Peter is indeed back, then he is in league with Cullum and Sidwell. I have no doubt about that.

Port Charles Potpourri

Some quick thoughts about other things going on in and around Port Charles.

Romancing the man-child

Seriously, how stupid is Cody? I understand that he might not have ever read a romance book, but has he never seen a romance movie? Heck, any movie where a couple start out as foes and end up in love? Molly deserves better than an idiot who reads a paragraph of two of her book and takes it as a personal insult to him. At least, read the whole thing before you judge.

The beginning of a beautiful friendship

Did General Hospital’s blizzard do what none of the peace brokering characters could? It feels like Martin and Tracy turned a page in their adversarial relationship. I hope so. I always felt that Martin would make a good love interest for Tracy. At the very least, they would be interesting friends.

A little Fizz to spice things up

Of all the dogs that I pictured Sonny adopting, a cute little fluff ball is not one of them. That said, I’m so happy that he took in one of the rescued pooches from Dalton’s lab. My own sweet Cleo (a Pibble/Border Collie mix) came from a local shelter five years ago and every day with her has been a blessing.

All aboard General Hospital’s time portal

I cracked up at how Felicia, Mac, and Emma hopped on a plane to France, drove straight to the sanitarium where Anna was being kept, and met with Anna’s doctor in the courtyard. Will those chemicals dissipate and her rational thinking return or did it induce some kind of psychosis?

One thing is for certain. When Valentin finds out what happened to Anna, he’s going to know exactly who is behind it. It’s really looking like Valentin and Jack will have to team up to take Sidwell, Cullum (and Peter?) down.

Performer of the week

Braedyn Bruner did an outstanding job during her scenes with Finola Hughes when Emma reunited with Anna in France.
