It was just another week in Port Charles, as dirty deeds were covered up and bad actors seemed to rule the day. Is it time for Michael to return home and rescue his children from their mother’s poor choices? Will Ava prevail in her quest to solve her financial problems? Let’s discuss in this week’s General Hospital commentary for the week ending April 11, 2025.

Folks, I work part-time in retail at a department store. Several of my coworkers are tickled pink that I write about General Hospital because they are avid viewers. Nowadays, from 2pm to 3pm, General Hospital is on in the breakroom, and I will get updates from my coworkers about what is going on if I’m on the floor working. This week, everyone was talking about two things: Drew and Kristina. Sonny might be a mobster, but it’s Drew and Kristina who seem to have the criminal intentions these days.

Dawn of Drew

How do we know our intrepid General Hospital writers are intentionally writing Drew to be a Shiloh 2.0? They have characters make the same observations about him — and Willow — that we the viewers have made for months. During a conversation with Jason about Willow, Sasha cautioned Jason not to confront Willow about moving in with Drew. Sasha warned Jason that anything he might say to Willow would fall on deaf ears because Willow is now in the cult of “Dawn of Drew.” Sasha is, of course, right. Willow is beyond reasoning with as evidenced by her exchange with Carly on that very topic.

For Willow, up is now down, and Drew is a poor unfortunate soul who is unfairly treated by — well, everyone.

What’s not best for the children

I can’t tell you how much I hate that Willow has moved her kids into Drew’s home. Her divorce isn’t even final. What bothers me more than that is Wiley’s unrealistic reaction to it all. He was positively giddy over getting bunkbeds. This is the same child who — only a few months ago — was happily waiting for Santa to deliver presents one minute then ripped out of his bed in middle of the night the next minute to be taken to his grandmother’s place. His world was destroyed in the blink of an eye because his mom had an adulterous affair with his great uncle.

The last time Wiley saw his father, it was Christmas morning at a restaurant. They spent an hour over breakfast and opened presents. Weeks later, Wiley learned that his father had to go away without much of an explanation beyond that. Since then, Wiley’s creepy great uncle has been kissing and pawing Wiley’s mother every chance he gets. How could that not affect a kid?

The only logical explanation for Wiley’s easy acceptance of everything is that Willow has indoctrinated her son into the cult of Dawn of Drew. Is that what the writers are suggesting here? If so, that’s another strike against Willow’s fitness as a mother. She’s no better than Harmony was. Drew oozes malevolence and criminal intent. The idea of Mr. Hand-to-the-chest Cain playing replacement-daddy to those precious children sickens me. Shame on Willow if she thinks that’s okay. It’s not.

Grandma Bear to the rescue

Folks, for years I hated Carly with every fiber of my being, but in the past couple of years that has turned around. I know. Color me shocked too. The best thing to happen to Carly was getting out of Sonny and Jason’s orbit. Nina has grown on me too, but that’s for another column.

During Friday’s episode, I cheered Carly on like she was scoring the winning point of a final championship match. Carly’s verbal smackdown was a thing of beauty because it was so well-deserved. Willow looked pathetic and out of her league trying to match Carly’s energy. It was downright laughable. My favorite part was when Carly vowed to get those kids away from Willow and to make certain that Willow never saw them again. The cherry on top was Jason dragging a snarling Carly out. Soapy deliciousness at its finest.

I am rooting for Carly to find a way to keep those promises. If Willow wants to play “house” with Drew, then she should do it without the kids. Willow’s argument that there was trouble in her marriage before she and Drew started swapping spit is self-serving poppycock. The only problem that I saw was Willow’s inability to keep her hands and lips off of Michael’s uncle. Carly might have hit Willow below the belt with that reminder that Willow isn’t Wiley’s biological mother, but Willow is delusional to suggest that she’s putting her kids first. She hasn’t since July 04, 2024.

The prodigal son should return sooner not later

I loved Chad Duell as Michael Corinthos (sometimes Quartermaine). He did a magnificent job of transitioning Michael from rebellious teen to loving family man, but it would be unfair to keep the character in limbo until Chad can return to General Hospital. Michael is a core legacy character who has so much more story to tell. His absence from the canvas has left a gaping hole and so many loose ends.

I don’t care how many times Drew and Willow justify their selfish behavior by arguing that others have done wrong too. Whataboutism is a lame attempt at deflection. Two wrongs don’t make a right. I want them to pay for what they’ve done. Michael is no saint, but Willow is the one who cheated. As far as I’m concerned, Michael was a free man the second that Willow started talking about having feelings for Drew. She carried on an emotional affair for months. Michael did not owe her his fidelity, especially in a moment of weakness when he was reeling from her betrayal.

The affair blindsided Michael. He knew there was more than just a couple of kisses between Willow and Drew. Michael and Sasha had a one-night stand, while Willow and Drew carried on a torrid affair that continues to this very day. The two don’t compare.

General Hospital’s resident menace, Kristina

I can’t wait for Kristina to pay the piper for her latest deadly impulse. Her enablers need to go down with her. I don’t even feel sorry for Alexis and Lucky because both made their choices knowing good and well that Kristina had acted with criminal intent when she cut the brake lines of Ric’s car.

Kristina knew it was wrong too. Not only did she look around to make sure no one saw her before she grabbed those wire cutters, but she later had a change of heart. Kristina acted in a moment of anger. It was the same rage that fueled her confrontation with Ava in the hotel room all those months ago.

Kristina has been a reckless angry mess for quite some time, so this destructive behavior predates the pregnancy by years if not decades.

Alexis does damage control — again

I’ve come to the conclusion that Alexis has a gift for making a bad situation infinitely worse. She’s the poster child for what not to do if things go wrong. With the stroke of a pen on some commitment papers, she has betrayed two daughters and possibly jeopardized her career. Again. Neither daughter is going to be happy with her.

Why Alexis didn’t go to Sonny is a mystery to me. Sonny would have paid Ava the money and made sure to get his hands on all traces of evidence. Instead, Alexis turned to Diane. I’m not sure how appropriate it was for two attorneys to conspire to help someone avoid legal responsibility for some serious crimes by having her committed to a sanitarium behind her back. It feels unethical, and I honestly hope that both Alexis and Diane face some consequences for what they are about to do.

Alexis might be able to convince Kristina that she did it for Kristina’s own good, but Kristina is going to push back. That’s Kristina’s nature. She’s volatile and impulsive. It’s why I do agree that she needs intensive therapy. But she also needs jail time. Sending her off to a country club sanitarium and thinking that makes up for the attempted murder of three people is not justice. It’s bull*censored*!

This is exactly why Kristina is such an entitled trainwreck and rotten human being.

Ava’s folly is our gain

Ava acted with criminal intent too when she marched to Alexis’ office to engage in a little blackmail. It was a baffling move to me. Why not go straight to Sonny — the man with millions at his disposal? She would have walked out with a big fat bank account and possibly even a more favorable custody agreement.

That said, I loved the scene as Ava purred her threats while Alexis blinked like a scared little mouse. The expression on Alexis’ face when she saw that recording of Kristina with the wire cutters marching to the front end of Ric’s car was priceless. I had no pity for her. She and Sonny created that little monster.

Sidwell family drama

Speaking of criminal intent, I’m confused about Marco and Jenz’s relationship. Marco seems like an upstanding guy — at least I hope he is for Lucas’ sake — but he also appeared to be close to his father. How does that work? Does Marco know about Jenz’s dealings in Africa? I hope Marco and Lucas can get into that discussion soon. If anyone might understand Marco’s position, it’s Lucas, son of Julian Jerome. Lucas’ true dad will always be Dr. Tony Jones, but Lucas did grow to care about Julian.

I have to admit, one of my favorite scenes of the week was the conversation between Marco and Natalia at the Metro Court restaurant. I can’t stand Natalia. She is a loathsome creature with an ugly soul, and she’s been getting a free pass on all the hurt she caused when she first darkened our television screens. Hurt that ultimately chased her daughter away. I was pleasantly surprised and quite pleased when Marco (formerly referred to as “Eloi”) called Natalia out on her homophobic views and past.

l can easily forgive characters for their past ugliness, but I need to see the work and real growth. It’s that journey that wins me over. Natalia hasn’t done that. As I said in my previous column, all I’ve heard from her are excuses and justifications. She claims that she has changed, but we haven’t really seen that put to the test. Believe it or not, I’m rooting for Natalia to win me over. I love Eva LaRue and I feel bad that she’s been saddled with such an awful character to play.

Luckily, nobody does a redemption storyline better than General Hospital.

A new direction for Jordan

Jordan has a new man and a new mission. Let’s start with the new man, Dr. Isaiah Gannon. He’s good looking, has an impressive career, and most importantly, he’s into Jordan. I’m so happy for her. I hated seeing her secretly pining for Curtis, even though it’s been years since their divorce. Jordan is a gorgeous woman who has a lot to offer. She deserves to be understood, accepted, and loved. Curtis did the latter, but never the first two, which is why I always felt that he was not right for Jordan.

I have high hopes for Dr. Gannon, and I’m eager to learn more about his family in Llanview. Hint-hint, writers.

Now, let’s address Jordan’s mission to take down Jenz Sidwell. If it were anyone else, I would say it was a crazy plan. But Jordan is different. She’s a force to be reckoned with, and Sidwell appears to underestimate her. If he’d done his homework properly, he would know that. However, his arrogance will make it easy for her to find dirt on him.

Is it possible that Jenz is truly reformed? Of course not. On General Hospital, men like Jenz are never reformed. They always have criminal intent and inevitably act on it.

It’s for that reason that I am eager to see Jordan be the key to his downfall. What’s a little malfeasance between friends (Jordan and Laura) if it helps take down a bad guy? Maybe when this is all over, Laura will decide to retire from office and endorse Jordan to run for mayor.

I would love to see Jordan usher Port Charles into a new era.

General Hospital Quick Takes

Our newly minted spy Josslyn landed her first assignment — in Port Charles. Agent 99 has been tasked with spying on Professor Dalton at Port Charles University. What could the WSB possibly want with a college professor? Also, does Super Spy Vaughn own any other type of clothing besides active wear?

Kai’s parents need to show up at least once for their son. It’s downright cruel that they haven’t so much as popped in for a weekend. Nothing short of me dying would have kept me from my kid’s bedside if either of them had been seriously injured like Kai was.

I saw more chemistry between Lulu and Cody than I have Lulu/Dante and Cody/Molly combined. This is the soapy relationship the writers should explore. Dante might have moved on from Lulu, but he won’t like seeing her hooking up with his childhood bestie.

Has Charlotte snatched Ace and run away to the Quartermaine mansion? She moved into Grandma Laura’s place and vanished right along with her little cousin. Now that I think about it, Kevin appears to be missing too.

And just like that, I’m rooting for Portia and Brad to get to the bottom of what is going on with Drew. Will Brad find evidence that the man calling himself Drew Cain is in fact Shiloh Archer? I want frequent updates between these two

What General Hospital viewers are saying

Re: Lucky covering for Kristina

Lucky is choosing his ego over Elizabeth, like he always does.
