Let’s discuss in this week’s General Hospital commentary for the week ending March 07, 2025.<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Dear readers, after five decades of soap viewing, it\u2019s rare when a soap can surprise me. But General Hospital did it when they launched the plot twist of Joss becoming a WSB agent! I am thrilled with this idea. Kudos to the writer who dreamt it up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

General Hospital’s next generation spy games<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The WSB has been a mainstay on General Hospital almost since I started watching. But now, all the WSB agents, like me, are getting up in years and if the citizens of Port Charles are going to continue to have WSB related storylines, it only makes sense that they need to recruit some younger agents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joss has been a pit bull over the years. A fiery mini me of her mother, so seeing her as a woman with the potential to be a badass spy is easy. We know she is fearless and relentless in her pursuit of truth.  I hope Eden McCoy is as giddy about this as I am. She is a tremendous young actress, and I think this career change for Joss opens up a lifetime of storylines for her, just as it has for Anna and Robert over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agent Handsome<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Although I know I am opening myself up to having Dan J Kroll call me a hussy for the 100th<\/sup> time, I am willing to risk it. Joss\u2019 WSB handler is a honey. I saw the news articles<\/a> announcing Bryce Durfee\u2019s addition to the General Hospital cast and my heart said, \u201cYes, please.\u201d Of course, the last time I was smitten with the new recast Jagger Cates, he was dead in a blink, so let\u2019s hope that Vaughn has a longer lifespan. He\u2019s pretty. Here’s hoping he’s this generation’s version of Frisco Jones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joss has already lost Oscar to cancer and Dex to a serial killer, and she\u2019s only a sophomore in college. Can she catch a break? Joss and Vaughn have a lovely ring to it, right? Maybe instead of Frisco, he and Joss will be the new Robert and Anna for this generation?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chris McKenna wins me over<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Carly thinks Joss is happily in the Canary Islands, and NuBrennan hasn\u2019t uttered a word to change her mind. I was so sure I would not like the recast, but I do in fact like him. While I still miss Charles Mesure, I am delighted to see that Chris McKenna has great chemistry with Laura Wright and I think he will be a solid recast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some recasts I never truly get over, (Here\u2019s looking at you, Lexi Ainsworth,) but others slip into their roles seamlessly and a month in I already accept Mr. McKenna as Jack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are Jack and Carly doomed?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

But what will become of Jack and Carly\u2019s budding romance once she learns Brennan recruited her daughter into a life of danger? I doubt she will be pleased. But Joss comes by it honestly. She is related by blood to the Spencer and Jacks clan, and was partially raised by Sonny Corinthos, so she\u2019s got danger flowing through her veins from all angles. Watching her with her handler today, Joss seems poised to be a pretty badass spy if the writers continue down this path. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carly told Jack that their lifestyles weren\u2019t compatible and seemed sad when he walked out. Was she hoping he would try to change her mind? If she lived with Jason and Sonny and the mob all those years, it seems the WSB would be a day at the park for her. I\u2019m still hoping those two keep trying. But the Joss factor? That\u2019s going to be an issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

General Hospital’s runaway football player<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Joss\u2019 bestie Trina is trying to turn football jock Kai into an art lover with seeming success. Did you ever see Runaway Bride where Julia Roberts can\u2019t decide which type of eggs she likes because she has always just said she likes whatever her current boyfriend likes? Yeah, well, I am wondering if Trina left town tomorrow if Kai would ever walk into another art gallery. I think he is falling for art because he is falling for Trina, and he wants to love what she loves to be close to her. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am glad Trina has someone, because once it comes out that Portia lied to everyone about Heather\u2019s tests, and it will, I think Trina will need a shoulder to cry on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diagnosis: Blackmail<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Trina\u2019s mom Portia is in hot water at General Hospital thanks to Brad caving in to Aunt Selina\u2019s blackmail. He gave his aunt the info he was holding over Jordan. I was so enjoying watching Brad and Lucas rekindle their love story and then Brad had to go and confess to Lucas. Okay, it was the honorable thing to do, to tell the truth, but Lucas didn\u2019t seem moved by Brad\u2019s honesty. Instead, he turned on Brad again and our happy reunion only lasted for two scenes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brad only got a trip to Miami with his blackmail, but Drew, or whoever the jerk calling himself Drew actually is, had more nefarious intentions with his blackmail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What’s really going on with Drew<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Readers, my friend and co-writer Liz Masters<\/a> speculated about this, but somehow, I missed it. There is an online debate about what is up with Drew. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have read three theories: <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

1) Drew is secretly Shiloh and that\u2019s why he is obsessed with Willow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2) Drew is still under some sort of Helena implanted mind control and someone is triggering his programming and making him do awful things<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3) Drew was beaten so badly in Pentonville that he had a traumatic brain injury that altered his personality completely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A noticeable change in Drew<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For months people have been saying, \u201cDrew just doesn\u2019t seem like his old self.\u201d Ever since he was released from prison. Of those three options, the Shiloh angle is my absolute favorite. First off, imagine Willow discovering she had been duped by Shiloh — again! For all we know, she has a new lower back tattoo. That would also mean our creepy cult leader had seduced Nina, too. No matter who Drew is, I hate him SO much right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remember that Harmony\u2019s last warning to Willow was not to trust Nina. We never discovered what that was about. What if Nina helped Shiloh get plastic surgery to resemble Drew to try and pry her away from Michael? I know this all seems very far-fetched, but if Drew is<\/em> Shiloh, I will sing the praises of the General Hospital writers for such a clever unexpected soapy twist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You know things are bad when Carly and Nina team up together, it\u2019s clear that they both hate Drew more than they hate each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will Michael be home sooner than later?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Carly mentioned Michael to Sonny during Friday’s episode. It made me wonder if Chad Duell will be back after the summer, or if a recast is on the way (despite the claims they wouldn\u2019t recast) — or if we will just occasionally hear about some invisible version of Michael out there. Chad Duell\u2019s photo is still on the mantle, so that\u2019s something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sasha’s squirly choices<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

But the Sasha situation is driving me nuts. So, Sasha will NOT take money from Michael\u2019s trusted uncle Jason who Michael asked to help Sasha, but she WILL take money from creepy Sidwell who held her hostage? Why on Earth does she think that is the better option? Would she rather owe a favor to Jason who is kind and wants to help her, or Sidwell who would happily kill her if she got in his way? I don\u2019t understand her logic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jumping bail and saying goodbye <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Jason is off trying to track down Charlotte, despite the fact he\u2019s not supposed to leave town and is out on bail after being arrested for Cyrus\u2019 disappearance. But hey, it\u2019s General Hospital. Next week\u2019s previews indicate Valentin will say goodbye and let Charlotte go. That makes me sad. Charlotte and Papa belong together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I really want James Patrick Stuart back on canvas. He\u2019s my current favorite. If all the other criminals in Port Charles can get away with their crimes, why not Valentin? Sure, he would have to get a new place since Sidwell is at Wyndemere and Sonny bought his last place of residence, but he can afford it, right? We need more Cassadines. I\u2019m still bothered that no one is visiting Nikolas in prison or rarely even mentioning him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Laura does have her hands full though. Finding out that Cyrus tried to kill both of her children and did kill Sam and Dex must be a heavy burden to bear. It\u2019s also odd to me that Laura is taking business meetings with a man who held Lucky hostage. It\u2019s times like these when I doubly miss Luke!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sidwell’s web of deceit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sidwell called Alexis to Wyndemere to offer her the lovely gift of the dagger used to slit her mother\u2019s throat. What the heck is up with that? Is Sidwell somehow connected to Helena and the twisted will she left behind? Did the dagger float out of the harbor and back to Wyndemere like a magical Excalibur knife? I don\u2019t get it but it\u2019s super creepy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, dearest readers, please forgive me if Natalia is your favorite, because she\u2019s so boring to me that every time I write I have to go and Google \u201cBlaze\u2019s mom on General Hospital\u201d because I don\u2019t care enough about her character to learn her name. Anyway, making Natalia the ex-wife of Sidwell doesn\u2019t really make her any more interesting to me, now she\u2019s just in twice as many scenes and I\u2019m doubly bored. Again, this is no slight on Eva La Rue, she\u2019s a delightful actress, it\u2019s just that the entire trajectory of this character never caught hold in my heart. I just don\u2019t care about Natalia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If they wrote Natalia out tomorrow, I wouldn\u2019t notice she was missing until someone said, \u201cHey what happened to that chick that used to work at Deception?\u201d Maybe this new storyline will intrigue me and change my mind, but\u2026 not yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Things are heating up between Ava and Ric<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I am intrigued by Ava and Ric. I like that pairing a lot and I think they have long term potential. First, it will irk Sonny to no end if Ric ends up as Avery\u2019s stepdad, and second, Rick Hearst and Maura West shine in their scenes together. I know Ric is still smitten with Liz, but she\u2019s smitten with Lucky, so Ric is better off pursuing Ava.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gio and Great-Granny Q<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Across town at the Q household, Tracy and Gio are bonding before they even discover they are Great Granny and grandson. How is it that Jane Elliot is so charismatic with every single scene partner? I have watched General Hospital since the 70\u2019s and I have never seen Jane Elliot in a bad scene. Never once did she have a throwaway scene. Her seemingly effortless onscreen chemistry should be studied in acting schools. She is a soap goddess. To me, every scene with Tracy is must-see TV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poor Gio! He is related to the Corinthos family, the Quartermaine family, and the Cerullo family. He is related to both Lois and Olivia. Both Ned and Sonny are his Grandpas. This is going to be the ride of a lifetime when it all comes out. And, if Lulu\u2019s threats are genuine, it will be coming out sooner rather than later. So, Rocco will gain a brother. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will Anna think so kindly of Gio dating Emma when she finds out he is part of Sonny\u2019s family? Man, this is going to be good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does Sonny know?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The part I could not decide after Friday\u2019s episode is if Sonny knows that Gio is his grandson. I can\u2019t decide if he and Lois are in on this together, or if Sonny is also in the dark that Gio is his flesh and blood. Has he been paying for his school all these years just because he\u2019s a nice guy, or is it more?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dante and Brook Lynn are growing closer as Dante mourns Sam and BLQ tries to support him. Will that all blow up once he learns that Brook Lynn lied to him for years, or will he understand? Will Chase be able to live with the fact that his pal Dante is Brook Lynn\u2019s baby daddy? There are endless possibilities in this storyline. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cody and Lulu have been buddy-buddy but when Cody realizes that Lulu pumped him for information, will that be the end of their friendship? Or will it be the opposite? Will Lulu run to Cody for comfort?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Martin’s file satchel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

So, Martin keeps all his confidential client files in his hotel room in a satchel? I used to work in HR, and I had to take very long and boring classes on proper documents retention requirements, so I can speak with expertise. That\u2019s not okay. There are certain documents, especially those that contain confidential medical information, that have to reside in a locked file in a locked room that cannot be accessed by anyone but the responsible party. 
But hey, it\u2019s a soap opera, so suspension of disbelief and all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jordan and Isaiah sizzle<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Hey! We actually got to see where Jordan Ashford lives for the first time since Tanisha Harper took over the role. I love Jordan and Isaiah together and I hope their clandestine romance continues despite the ruse that she is pretending to be interested in Sidwell. I feel like the writer\u2019s kind of want her to be a cop again, but also the deputy mayor because she dances the line between those two jobs. But as long as she and Isaiah keep dating, I\u2019ll go along for the ride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What will happen tomorrow dear readers? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Will Sasha sell her soul to Sidwell and let him in the door of Deception with\u2026 deception? Will Liz and Lucky continue their path back to one another with no more hospital stays? Can Lulu stop behaving like she\u2019s still BLQ\u2019s high school rival? How will Tracy react when Gio calls her “Great Granny?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will Joss use the Cobra Kai Crane kick to take out Vaughn? Will Sonny get his pacemaker before he has a heart attack when he finds out he has another grandkid? (IF he doesn\u2019t already know!) Will Lois and Olivia have a hair pulling fight when Olivia realizes that Lois kept Olivia’s grandson from her? Will everyone forget Cyrus died and just never solve the murder like they did when Sonny killed Jagger? What will Charlotte do when he comes home? Will she stalk Sonny\u2019s kids because they are in her old house and she\u2019s still kind of cuckoo? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only tomorrow knows dear readers and I will tune in tomorrow as long as there are tomorrows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
