General Hospital Commentary: Put a sock in it

General Hospital Commentary: Put a sock in it

The focus was all about family this week as Tracy and Ronnie made peace, The Davis girls spent time together, and Wyndemere got a couple of new residents. However, trouble is brewing in Port Charles. Who snatched Anna? Will Carly and Valentin succeed in taking Brennan down or will their efforts end in disaster? Let’s find out in an all-new General Hospital commentary for the week ending November 7, 2025.

Dear readers, arenโ€™t we lucky to be in the world in a time where we can watch Daytime Legends Jane Elliott and Erika Slezak play together on our screens? The face-off between Ronnie Bard and Tracy Q was exhilarating to watch. The raw emotion they brought to each scene made me feel every feeling they expressed. Theyโ€™ve both been doing this for decades, and they have honed their craft to perfection. General Hospital viewers reaped the rewards.

While Erika Slezakโ€™s time at General Hospital is over, I am so glad she came on after Leslie Charlesonโ€™s death and gave us one more Monica related storyline. When Ronnie blurted out, โ€œPut a sock in it!โ€ to Tracy, Tracy’s face visibly shifted. Tracy had recognized the familiar phrase and asked why Ronnie had said it. Ronnie explained it was something that she and Monica had said as kids. Tracy instantly softened and finally believed Ronnie about her love for Monica. It was a phrase Monica used on Tracy often, and hearing Ronnie say it was almost a little gift that Monica had sent to Tracy from beyond. As if to say, โ€œYes, this woman is mine.โ€ I just loved the writing for this scene.

I may rewatch it ten more times.

Until we meet again on General Hospital

Another bonus to Tracy and Ronnie making peace is that it opens the door for Erika to pop in again, maybe for a good old fashioned Quartermaine Thanksgiving pizza. As for Tracy, she is now the official matriarch of the Quartermaine clan. But I want more for her. I wish they hadnโ€™t killed off Gregory Chase, because Tracy deserves a late life romance. Sheโ€™s lost her entire core family — parents, brother, beloved sister-in-law — and she needs to have someone in her life to share her heart with.

Iโ€™m thankful that the writers made the Q family apologize to Tracy when they came back home. They didnโ€™t back her up or support her at all, and Tracyโ€™s hunches were right. It was important that her family made things right instead of just pretending their hurtful behavior didnโ€™t happen.

Tracy’s instincts were spot-on

Like Tracy, I am blessed — or cursed depending on your POV — with being able to spot a snake a mile away. Tracy knew in her bones that Monica would not leave the house to a total stranger, at least not without warning the family or telling them about Ronnie. Tracy was absolute in her belief. But the Qโ€™s piled on because Tracy has a combative nature and they automatically assumed she was just being spiteful.

So, I was thankful that each Q offered a mea culpa to Tracy and let her know they regretted not standing up for her. Especially Olivia, who wouldn’t allow Tracy to book a hotel room in the Metro Court! Brutal. Thank goodness for the kind heart of Lulu and allowing her living room to become a storage unit.

Home for the holidays

Iโ€™m also glad that Gio is slowly but surely integrating into the Q family. When the casting directors chose Giovanni Mazzi for this role on General Hospital, I thought he was just prop casting so weโ€™d have a lovely violin number at the Nursesโ€™ Ball. Iโ€™m so happy I was wrong. He is such an emotive and soulful actor, and his romance with Emma and relationship with Tracy have captured my heart. I was so moved by the scene when Gio told Tracy that โ€œready or not,” she is the head of the Quartermaine family now. So beautiful.  hope that by Christmas Day he is right there in the mix of things.

An honorable mention

And I canโ€™t comment on this weekโ€™s events without a shout out to my girl Outback. Watching her run off with the house paperwork while Drewโ€™s face turned purple was one of my favorite scenes of the week.

I am so weary of Drew not getting his comeuppance. We have so much of that in real life now that when it happens on my soaps too, I feel enraged. The daily headlines are filled with horrible men doing horrible things with no consequences whatsoever.

At least on General Hospital, can you give me some satisfaction? Can we please watch Drew lose? I donโ€™t care which way โ€“ he can go to jail, lose his seat in Congress, lose Willow or die, but he needs to lose, and he needs to be held accountable for his crimes.

The most upsetting part of this for me is how wonderful the original Billy Miller version of Drew was. Billy’s Drew was kind, heroic, generous, warm. He was the version of Drew that Monica accepted into her family. Not the monster the writers created when Cameron Mathison took over the role. And I will never understand why the powers that be did it.

But I could rant about Drew all day, so letโ€™s move on.

One character in Drewโ€™s orbit I love very much is his daughter Scout. Cosette Abinante is a delight. I loved the scenes of Scout with the Davis girls. In particular the scene with Scout and Kristina as they reminisced about Sam. Readers, I didnโ€™t imagine that I would ever fall in love with the recasts of Molly and Kristina, but I finally have. I miss the originals, for certain, but the recast Davis girls have wormed their way into my stony old heart.

New aunts

Ever since Kristina and Ava buddied up to kidnap Ric, and Molly fell for a certain cowboy, I have found myself enjoying their scenes and the warmth they bring to the table. I’m looking forward to the holiday episodes. Let’s hope Drew is in jail or the morgue by then so Scout can be with her family for Christmas.

Big brother

Spoiler alert: Skip the next three paragraphs if you are spoiler free

And then thereโ€™s Scout’s brother Danny. I have heard a terrible rumor that the writers intend to kill Danny off, and I pray that isnโ€™t true. In fact, let me make a plea right here. Please General Hospital writers, we donโ€™t want another dead kid Christmas. Just donโ€™t. According to the rumor, Danny will get caught up in part of Carlyโ€™s plot to get revenge on Jack Brennan. Danny will end up in the wrong place at the wrong time and die, thereby breaking up the eternal bond of Carly and Jason. Jason will hold Carly firmly responsible for Dannyโ€™s death.

I mentioned this week on X (formerly known as Twitter) that itโ€™s time for General Hospital to recast the role of Jasper Jacks. Ingo canโ€™t come back to ABC, but the character needs to be on canvas. There is no way that Carly wouldnโ€™t want to reach out to Jossโ€™ dad and say, โ€œOur kid is in trouble and she needs you, please come home.โ€ Many of my followers threw out names of potential replacements for Jax, and frankly, Iโ€™d give anyone a whirl at this point. The character is needed to give this storyline depth. And if Carly really is responsible for Danny dying, sheโ€™s going to need someone.

Take with a grain of salt

Normally, I shrug such rumors off, but the source of the rumor is the same source that said Sam was going to get killed off. I initially thought โ€œNo way. That canโ€™t be true.โ€ And then Sam was killed off. So, I am taking it with a grain of salt but hoping against hope that it is wrong. First off, Asher Antonyzyn has grown into a wonderful young actor and his scenes with Steve Burton (Jason) are so beautiful. I donโ€™t want to lose him. Of course, if he is like Nicholas A. Chavez, and was scooped up by Hollywood for some big project and leaving on his own accord, thatโ€™s a different story. Sure, then give him a big soapy ending. But if thatโ€™s not the case, then, just donโ€™t.

Our other young adults are going down a dangerous road. Emma and Gio asked Rocco to lift Brittโ€™s lab keys. Unfortunately, Rocco doesnโ€™t know how deep and dark Brittโ€™s secrets are. Professor Dalton is merely a cog in the machinery of Sidwell and his mystery bossโ€™s plot. Now that Pascal has showed up at Wyndemere as Sidwell’s apparent manservant. It just keeps getting weirder and weirder.

We have heard Faisonโ€™s name so many times on General Hospital lately, I have to ask if he is actually coming back. I hope so because I adore Anders Hove and his portrayal the dark and dangerous Cesar Faison. When Anna was taken, we heard his voice. But it’s possible it was AI generated just to scare Anna. Otherwise, Cesar is in fact, the man behind the curtain.

People keep saying itโ€™s a clone. However, Anders Hove is 69 years old, and clones donโ€™t wake up the same age as their original, do they? I mean I saw on the news that Tom Brady cloned his old dog, but the dog is a puppy, not an old dog with a gray muzzle.

Too good to be true?

Itโ€™s all so bizarre. I am delighted to have Nathan West back. All I want for him is for Maxie to wake up and come home and for James to call him daddy and run into his arms. But there is still something Britt knows about Nathan that we donโ€™t know. Was he experimented on? Is he brainwashed somehow? Is he under control of Faison or Peter August? There are so many soapy possibilities. But Ryan Pavey is such a likable actor, I immediately trust him.

The Britch

As thrilled as I am with Nathan being back on General Hospital, I am not as happy with Brittโ€™s return. At first, I was thrilled, but I anticipated a Jason/Britt romance, and itโ€™s been too slow coming for my liking. I wrote an entire column not too long ago about botched returns, and I want to add this one to the list.

When Britt left, she had grown. She was softer. She was heroic. Now, the General Hospital writers have leaned into the old โ€œBritchโ€ persona and erased all the progress she made over the years. Maybe there is a reason. Maybe sheโ€™s trying to protect Jason, Dr. O and Nathan by keeping them at armโ€™s length. But if thatโ€™s the case, why get so close to Rocco, making it clear that heโ€™s your soft spot? I donโ€™t understand the way itโ€™s all playing out, and patience is not my strong suit.

Happy to have Kelly Thiebaud back, but I want them to speed up to when Britt and Jason reconcile for real.

Today, while Felicia took an extended personal call at work, a shadowy figure, played by Swedish actor Peter Stormare. lurked behind her, listening in and taking note of all the personal details that she was sharing. I had two thoughts:

1) If someone is after Nathan, maybe they intend to use James as a bargaining chip to make Nathan do something for them.

2) The secret overlord is Peter August and heโ€™s coming for Bailey Lu.

I hate both of these theories, but why else would some villainous man be interested in Felicia talking about the daily schedule of her grandchildren? And what was that giant file he left on her desk? Was it a folder of blank pages, or something dire they hope Felicia will investigate?

Danger is also high at Wyndemere, and poor unsuspecting Lucas is about to move in. Did he really buy the story that Sidwell was selling about Britt being a Royal Pains-like concierge doctor? It doesnโ€™t really matter, but I feel bad for him. Lucas is a good guy and heโ€™s apparently a liar magnet because he always ends up in relationships with guys who have a loose grasp on honesty. He will be crushed when he discovers that Marco is a liar lips fibber face just like Brad. I hope Brad comes back and gives Britt the dirt she needs to blackmail Portia. No way that Brad didnโ€™t keep a copy of the evidence before he gave it to Drew.

Carly has waded into danger, too, by partnering with Valentin and suggesting that Jack bring Valentin back to the USA. If the WSB has a supermax prison in the US, why have they always sent their prisoners to Steinmauer in the first place? It will be wonderful for me as a viewer to have more Valentin, but danger follows him. Also, if Valentin finds out that the WSB or someone they are working with have taken Anna hostage, he will somehow escape to save her. Mark my words.

Sidwell is interacting with everyone these days. He vaguely threatened Laura in the mayorโ€™s office, has Lucy as his real estate agent and useful gossip, and today, pretended to be interested in art with Ava to dig for dirt on Sonny.

I love Maura Westโ€™s style and the way she leans in with a gleam in her eye when she has some especially juicy tidbit to share. Itโ€™s sly and sexy and it always makes me smile. Maura’s Ava is like a femme fatale from the old movies. She trades info and alliances freely to stay on the good side of every gangster. She can be friends with Sidwell and Sonny and give them both dirt on the other all while keeping enough distance to never get caught in the crossfire.

Here’s my problem. Sidwell is a villain opposing Sonny, and Sonny isnโ€™t going to lose. But I love Carlo Rota. Iโ€™d much rather keep him than Drew, but I donโ€™t think Sidwell can be redeemed. Also, Carlo Rotaโ€™s real-life wife, Nazneen Contractor plays Acting District Attorney Justine Turner, and sheโ€™s also deep in Sonnyโ€™s orbit. If there is a battle between Jenz and Sonny, which one will she save? I mean, Sonny took her axe throwing and made her a lasagna, soโ€ฆ

Jason and Sonnyโ€™s โ€œWe want to kill Sidwell, but hereโ€™s why we canโ€™tโ€ฆโ€ scene on Friday was fun. Everything is so intertwined and so many people would be impacted by any move they make. They are trying so hard not to resort to murder, but Jenz is making it hard for them to keep that commitment.

When Sonny went to see Alexis, I was screaming at my TV. Alexis was being so judgmental about Sonny trying to protect Michael by offering up Portia, after every crime she has committed to save Kristina this year including embezzlement and kidnapping.

Alexis hired Felicia to look into Portiaโ€™s alibi, which will be hard because Felicia works for Portia at General Hospital, and they are friendly. What will Felicia do if she uncovers the fact that Portia faked Heatherโ€™s medical tests to keep Heather locked up and that Drew knew and was blackmailing Portia?

Unpopular opinion

Everyone is mad about Jordan telling Curtis that Portia is pregnant. But you know what? I agree with Jordan. If I had a male friend and I knew his wife/girlfriend/partner was pregnant and keeping it from him, I would totally tell him. No one in this scenario knows yet that Portia cheated with Isaiah. Jordan only knew that Portia was pregnant and keeping it from Curtis just like Portia did when she was pregnant with Trina.

Jordan assumed Curtis was the dad, and knowing Portiaโ€™s track record as a liar, decided to tell her friend. The really rich part is Portia showing up at Jordanโ€™s door yelling, โ€œYouโ€™re not taking my baby!โ€ Like why did she think Jordan wanted her baby? I feel like now Portia will lie and say the baby is Isaiahโ€™s just to keep Jordan away from it and then five years from now, Curtis will find out he has a kid again.

Will anyone bring an Eckertโ€™s bakery box to election night party? Will Spencer show up alive to steal a ballot box for Grandma again? Is Outback going to get a doggy Christmas stocking from Granny Tracy for being such a good girl and accidentally helping save her house?

Will Jason remember the conversation he had with Anna about her eerie feeling that Faison was alive and go looking for her? Will Pascal have to fetch umbrella drinks for Britt like he did at the pool at Five Poppies? Is Cody going to teach Nathan to ride a horse so Nathan can be a cowboy, too?

Will Martin really skate free and pay zero consequences for forging Monicaโ€™s will? Will everyone in Port Charles live through November Sweeps?

And finally, will you be sure to check out Dan J Kroll’s latest Beyond The Gates commentary?

Only tomorrow knows dear readers, and I will tune in tomorrow as long as there are tomorrows.

    Greetings and Salutations!
    Random Thoughts, jotted down during the week while viewing:
    I’m telling you, OutKast needs to be in the Opening Credits.
    (I like calling her OutKast because I dig their music…”Heeeyyyy-Ya…..!”)
    Anyway, Dogs are Awesome and I love that she Saves the Day.
    More Critters! No more Crooked Politicians!
    Now we need Dorothy (Molly?) to throw water on Congressman Jazz Hands so he melts, yelling “You Cursed Brat! And your Little Dog, too”
    Then OutKast should get the Daytime Emmy.
    The look on Mikey and Ronnie’s faces when she grabbed the papers and ran off was Classic!!
    I love dogs so much, anyone who really knows me can tell you.
    And this Doggo is no exception.

    Okay, I know it’s Hokey and Ridiculous, the entire situation, but who wasn’t Totally Verklempt when Tracy found and read Monica’s Note along with the Will?
    Now get that Real Will to a Real Attorney!!

    I have to say, that while Tracy was harsh, I couldn’t blame her for feeling as if her Family abandoned her.
    They did.
    I really couldn’t blame her for being angry.
    I wanted to slap all their Smug Faces myself.

    I really wish TPTB would lighten up on Britt a bit.
    Stop making her always be the Mean Broad.
    I do like her with Jason.
    He balances her out a bit.
    I loved the Anti-Emma warning Dalton “…She’s a Pathological Liar and Embryo Stealer!”
    Britt: “Don’t forget Baby Doll Griller!”
    HA!
    I’d nearly forgotten about that myself!
    That was pretty mean.
    But funny.

    I kind of like the idea of Porthole being “Pointed to as a Suspect” as Sonny told Diane.
    She’s such a Friggin Hypocrite.
    And don’t get me started on Curtis and Jordan.
    And Where’s Taggert???
    You know, Trina’s FIRST Real Father??

    Next, on “Hair Disasters”.
    Anna’s hair looks terrible.
    Not only that, she’s Stupid.
    What Stupid Spy/Police Commissioner casually enters their car in a Dark Garage, talking on the phone, and doesn’t Check The Back Seat for Abductors?
    Like, Duh.
    She actually deserved to be Taken Hostage.
    Now, while Anna is handcuffed to that chair, can they send in a Good Hairstylist to fix that Catastrophic Hair Disaster?

    Okay it’s still Halloween in Port Charles and why has nobody gone to visit Maxie on her Birthday?
    They’re talking about her, why aren’t they visiting her?
    Folks go from Port Charles to Switzerland in Five Minutes, they can’t figure out how to get to Boston?
    ~~~
    Speaking of Instant Travel, why is Pascal still alive?
    Rhetorical Question.
    ~~~
    This Week, on “The Anti-Avengers!”
    Oh, Happy Day!
    It appears Agent Barbie has Graduated!!
    She’s gone from Brown to Black Clothing!!
    Dig the Emma Peel Catsuit, but Joss ain’t no Emma Peel.
    And NotJagger Jingelhiemer II the Sequel ain’t no John Steed.

    Why does Ava have a Bad Painting of what appears to be a Lantern Fly (without spots) on her Mantle?

    I don’t give a Rat’s A$$ about Sonny and ADA Turner and their Hatchet Throwing/Lasagna Expedition.
    More Boring Filler.
    However.
    I’m not Crying, You Are.
    And Tracy.
    Jane Elliot is Sublime.
    (So shoot me, I never was a Viki Lord Fan.
    I still don’t like Ronnie.)

    ~~~
    Carly and her Dorky Glasses and Even Dorkier Wig are suddenly back in Switzerland.
    And where is Anna?
    Not that I really care at this point.
    ShrewLu STILL hasn’t made the Opening Credits.
    ::Fascinating::
    Sonny buys Piers in Rochester.
    I know people in Rochester.
    A bunch of My Family have lived in Lockport since 1975.
    Just saying.
    Sonny to Jason re: Sidwell wanting “The Piers”, ”
    “And…I don’t use them for anything ILLEGAL anymore….”
    I thought that was fairly amusing.
    ~~~
    So is James going to be Kidnapped by this Creepy Dom DeLuise Wannabe?
    Fleas is Conveniently Announcing his Evening Plans loudly to whoever she’s yapping to in the middle of the Hospital, and he seems to be Taking Note of Every Word.
    Before he dozed off, that is.
    Fabulous PI Skills.

  2. CeeGee

    That rumor about Danny better not be true! I’m so sick of the downright cruel storylines involving children, and even more, why bring a permanent end to a character with so many family ties in Port Charles who has a real shot at being a core character for the future?

    Killing these characters off is such an unimaginative, lazy move. If there’s some reason that a character like this needs to be off canvas for a bit (if a talented actor is moving on, for instance, or they just have a storyline they feel needs it) there are plenty of dramatic events short of death that could be written and could set up that character having to leave town, with a conflict between other characters if they need to have that.

    Having said that, I hope hope hope this rumor is false, because the actor who plays Danny is incredible, and his scenes with Jason as well as so many others are fantastic

  3. Ryan

    Hi, Tamilu. What did you think of martin and Lauraโ€™s scenes this week?

  4. SFan

    I read that Asher Antonyzyn (Danny) has chosen to leave GH for mental health reasons. If that is the case, I wish him well and pray he gets the help he needs. However, if the rumor is true that GH is killing off Danny, I will EXPLODE. If the actor needs to leave, he can be sent to visit Jake, his half-brother or off to boarding school for a while to keep him safe. ANYTHING but killing him off. I agree with CeeGee, I do not want to see yet ANOTHER child killed off or injured either emotionally or physically. That’s why I absolutely HATE what they are doing to Scout. She lost her mother, has a despicable man for a father and is being kept away from her family more often than not. Then there’s James. He will eventually accept and love Nathan, but if it turns out Nathan isn’t REALLY Nathan, he will be crushed. The cruelty toward children is unrelenting and disgusting. Look at the emotional hell they have put Wiley through. NO MORE. Get this story line resolved already.

  5. Alyce

    About the mystery man, I read he was on as a promotional crossover for a video game, so I would not read a lot into his presence.

    I am however, not happy with the idea that Danny would be killed off. Enough with the torture. They went from torturing Sasha, to finally giving her sort of a happy ending, to torturing poor Scout. If that child loses her big brother, it would just be cruel on top of everything else. If the actor wants/needs to leave, send him away, the reintroduce another actor later, but he is a legacy character with too many ties to waste him and deprive the future of GH of this incredible young character.

    • MAF

      Some kind of way Nathan is Faison. There’s something very much off about Nathan.

  6. JDF

    I thought they did a pretty good job of clearing up Monica’s will mystery. The note that Monica left Tracy about the will did the trick. I do have to take issue with Martin saying that he found Monica’s will online. That is seriously ridiculous. I guess we can all go “online” looking for wills that might interest us.
    *****
    I’m not a fan of Portia but she is right about Curtis. No one can live up to his standards, least of all himself.

    There are research groups all over the world working on fusion and cold fusion. What makes Dalton’s research so nefarious and what does animal testing have to do with fusion research? At least Vaughn pointed out to Brennan that they have no idea what Faison’s last project is or what Dalton is working on.

    I’m tired of Brennan threatening to charge everyone with treason, especially since he is the one screwing things up. Who’s fault is it if the WSB can’t keep secrets or their spies can’t maintain their cover?
    Joss is awfully chippy with Brennan. I wouldn’t tolerate that with a very junior agent.

  7. JDF

    Anders Hove could have been on the set to do the voice overs that Anna is hearing.
