Have you seen any of the movies nominated for this year's Oscars? If so, which ones, and what are your thoughts about that particular film?

I used to be more current with the Movies but all I've scene this year is Wicked . I saw it on line in my home so no sing a long for me 😂. Maybe I'm old but it kind of reminded me of a mash up of mean girls goes to Hogwarts ! Not an AG fan & J Goldbloom basically played himself . There were some great numbers when they finally got to Oz . It was worth watching to see the 1) train to Oz 2) The flying monkeys origin story 3) Elphaba (sp) " get her suit " as I call it . I'm a mom of boys who watched a lot of super hero movies . I like watching when the super hero gets his suit

Don't get me started on Conclave it's horrible mockery of Catholicism. I've only read a synopsis to judge whether to watch or not . Plus with the Pope being ill just a Hard Pass from me .
I will watch Nosferatu before the Oscars if I can find it on line I heard Lily Rose Depp was stunning .
Also Saw a movie with Sebastian Stan in a supporting role . I may find that to watch on line . I enjoy his acting .

Forgot to add , Hubby & I are watching mostly for the In Memoriam . I like to see the make up hair & clothes worn by the attendees but the Osca's has lost it appeal to me ! .Possibly because we know way to much about their personal life .

Wicked is the only move I saw this year as well and I watched it because I loved the Broadway show so much. What amazed me the most is how much Ariana Grande transformed herself for the role. I enjoy her music, but am less a fan of her upper register. The sound almost sounds as though she's forcing it out of herself, although her low notes were gorgeous. But she studied and worked on that range and she was gorgeous! Her notes were operatic and clear as a bell and just sounded effortless. That is huge. Plus she completely transformed her image and even the way she speaks to 'become' Galinda/Glinda. I cannot imagine a huger transformation of an individual in the name of the role, and I am rooting for her.

I sort of compare it to seeing Henry Winkler in interviews after only knowing him as the Fonz. He's so cool and it appears so effortless when he plays Fonzie. Then you see Henry and his mannerisms are different, his way of speaking is different, and he has this shy sweetness. It is magnificent how he transformed himself for that role. He became Fonzie.

That's how I see Ariana.

@webberhardylover ! I thank you for your insight ! I'm so totally tone deaf . I can hear some variety of notes but I don't think I appreciate the subtleties at times ! So I appreciate your insight ! My beef with AG is mostly her brother Frankie who I first saw on Big Brother & he was so annoying not a great way to decide on someone & I realize it's wrong ! Plus over saturation in the media . The Oscars will be a spectacle & I will probably watch to see what happens !
