Jason and his revolving door of twins, their similarities and differences

Post by WebberHardyLover »

Those of us who are long-term viewers of GH know that Susan and Alan had one child. However, later on, there was the infamous rewrite, giving Jason a twin named Franco.

Although the arc was too dark and violent for me, there were interesting neuro-psychiatric comparisons.
  • Jason had brain damage that altered his personality forever.
Jason killed for a living and was stone cold with a depraved indifference for human life, when doing the deed.
Franco killed and raped for a living also with a depraved indifference for human life, but unlike Jason, he gloried in those acts and taunted the surviving families.
We later learned that Franco had a brain tumor causing his own change in personality, but unlike Jason, Franco's was removable with surgery.

Franco always had an issue that his twin was considered the golden boy and protector through his killing while Franco himself was despised. He had a fascination with the twinning effect and comparison of the two.

Record scratch, back up, Franco was not his twin, he was a cousin. Drew was the twin.

Now Drew has a brain injury from his beating (I believe) and his personality is also altered. Whether it's altered forever has yet to be written.

But Drew does not kill. He just exhibits coercive control and cannot keep it in his pants. He is condescending and arrogant, but has not crossed the line into murder unlike his twin.

Yet once again, Drew is despised and Jason 'only kills bad people.'

If only the studies and contrasts could be written into the current show, I think that the episodes would be a lot more interesting.

I too believe all the twins will have some sort of brain damage parallel life . TPTB want Drillow to get a fabulous love story for the ages . One of the ways to do that is TBI Or mind mapping to get him out of this hole they've written him into . No one is routing for Drillow

Unfortunately, the writers aren't attributing Drew's personality shift to the beatdown in Pentonville. That is merely speculation on our part because we need something tangible to explain the drastic shift in Drew. They are doing the character and his history such a disservice by neglecting to address why Drew has undergone such a transformation.

The thing is, Drew's brain was damaged long ago when Helena and her minions played around with that memory mapping device that turned Drew into Jason. That means that Drew has the same capacity in him to kill as Jason, whether Drew acts on that or not.

Another thing the writers failed to address. What happened to all of Jason's memories when Drew "reverted" back to Drew Cain?

I'm still not sure that Drew is suffering brain damage. There's something very Shiloh-esque about Drew these days, especially his obsession with Willow. He is almost fanatical in his desire to be a family with her and the kids.
